Package contents
- A. 1x IR Receiver
- B. 1x IR Transmitter
- C. 2x Power adapters…
- D. 1x Instruction manual
How does it work?
Point your remote control at the Powermid XL™ IR Receiver. The IR Receiver receives these infrared signals, converts them into RF signals and sends them onto the Powermid XL™ IR Transmitter. The IR Transmitter then converts these back into infrared signals and sends them to your HDD-recorder, set-top box, satellite decoder, audio set, etc.
Installation
IR Receiver
- Place the IR Receiver in the room/area from which you wish to operate your equipment.
- Point the front of the IR Receiver (with Marmitek logo) towards the point at which you want to use the remote control (maximum 6 metres).
- Connect the Power Adapter to the IR Receiver and insert this into the mains socket.
IR Transmitter
- Place the IR Transmitter in the room/area in which the A/V equipment you wish to operate is located.
- Point the front of the IR Transmitter (with Marmitek logo) towards the equipment you wish to operate.
- Connect the Power Adapter to the IR Transmitter and insert this into the socket.
Range
Range between Transmitter and Receiver depends on:
- The number of floors and walls through which the signal has to travel and the materials used.
- Other 433 MHz sources such as wireless headphones or wireless speakers can significantly limit the range of the Powermid XL™. The best result is obtained if these sources are switched off when using the Powermid XL™. The Powermid XL™ works fine with wireless telephones.
- Some satellite receivers must be placed closer to the Powermid XL™ as a result of the effect the two devices have on one another. Try the Transmitter at a range of locations in order to obtain the best range.
Optional accessories

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
Does the signal of the Powermid XL travel through walls and ceilings?
Yes. The Powermid XL uses RF signals with a transmission frequency of 433 MHz.
These signals go through walls and ceilings. Can I also use the Powermid XL to
control equipment in a locked cupboard? Yes. You will find an extra connection
(3.5 mm plug) on the back of the Powermid XL receiver. This can be used to
connect an IR Eye, which you can use to control equipment in a locked
cupboard.
How do I check whether the Powermid XL transmits the signal of my remote
control?
When transmitting the signal of your remote control, a red LED will light up
on both the transmitter and the receiver.
Can I transmit signals from my wireless keyboard using the Powermid XL?
If your wireless keyboard uses standard infrared signals (40 kHz), you can
extend this wireless signal. Contact the supplier of the wireless keyboard to
check whether your keyboard uses this frequency.
Does the Powermid XL also work with Bang & Olufsen equipment?
No. Bang & Olufsen uses a different infrared frequency. The Powermid XL does
not support this frequency.
Is it possible to use several IR transmitters with each other?
Yes, however, the IR transmitters will all transmit the same IR signal, which
is received by the IR receiver Do you have any other questions that have not
