SAFETY INFORMATION

Please read and understand this entire manual before attempting to assemble, operate or install the product.

  1. Always disconnect the power supply prior to installing, servicing or removing the LED mirror.

  2. Installation work and electrical wiring must be done by a qualified person(s) in accordance with all applicable codes and standards, including fire-rated construction.

  3. Follow all local building, safety and electrical codes as well as NEC (National Electrical Code) and OSHA
    (Occupational Safety and Health Act).

  4. Electric service supply must be 120 volts, 60 hertz.

  5. This product must properly connect to the grounding conductor of the supply circuit.

  6. Do not bend or kink the power wires.

  7. When cutting or drilling into the wall or ceiling, do not damage electrical wiring and other hidden utilities.

  8. Avoid putting sharp or hard objects against mirror surface. Damage and/or injury may occur if punctured.

  9. Turn off product during storms or power surge situations to avoid damage to internal components.

PREPARATION

Before beginning assembly of product, make sure all parts are present.
Compare parts with package and hardware contents list. If any part is missing or damaged, do not attempt to assemble, install or operate the product. Contact customer service for replacement parts.

Estimated Installation Time: 30 minutes

Tools Required for Assembly (not included) : Tape Measure, Phillips Screwdriver, Hammer, Electric Drill, Drill Bits, Level, and Pencil.
Please follow all local electrical codes and consult an electrician when wiring this product.

IMPORTANT: 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection and Amazon Alexa account are required for full functionality.

WIRING DIAGRAM

Installation may vary depending on how the previous mirror was installed and the presence of the power source.
Supplies necessary for installation of your new mirror are not all included; however, most are available at your local home improvement or hardware store.

  • House wires may vary in color. Please be sure to verify actual house wires with a certified electrician before installation.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING: Turn off power at circuit breaker or remove fuse before attempting installation.

  1. Determine the midpoint of where the mirror will be installed and mark with a pencil. Place the Z-bar (DD) on the wall with the middle hole of the Z-bar (DD) positioned over the midpoint.

  2. Using a level, make sure the Z-bar (DD) is straight and mark the other two holes on the Z-bar (DD) located to the right and left sides. Remove the Z-bar (DD)

  3. Using a 7/32 in. drill bit (not included), drill holes in the wall where marked and insert drywall anchors (BB).

  4. Place the Z-bar (DD) on the wall and insert the mounting screws (AA) through the Z-bar (DD) and into the drywall anchors (BB).
    Tighten the mounting screws (AA) until the z-bar (DD) is securely attached to the wall.

  5. Using a level, mark the appropriate distance down from the center of the Z-bar (DD) depending on the size of the mirror. Drill a 7/32 in. hole at this location and insert a drywall anchor (BB).

  6. Drive the locking screw (EE) into the lower drywall anchor (BB), leaving 1/2 in. exposed.

  7. Connect the white wire from the mirror (A) to the white wire from the electrical box. Connect the black wire from the mirror (A) to the black wire from the electrical box. Connect the green ground wire from the mirror (A) to the ground wire from the electrical box.
    Cover and secure each wire connection with a wire connector (CC).

  8. Carefully attach the mirror (A) to the z-bar (DD), centering it and ensuring it is secure. The locking screw (EE) will align with the keyhole bracket on the back of mirror.
    Once the locking screw (EE) is aligned through the keyhole slot, move the mirror slightly to either side to lock it in place.
    Once the mirror (A) is securely in place on the Z-bar (DD), turn on the power at the circuit breaker or reinsert the fuse.

CONTROL PANEL OPERATION

  1. When power is off, there is no light on the control panel. When power is on, it will be dimly lit. When the control panel is in use, it will be fully lit.
  2. When the mirror is powered up, it will search for the Wi-Fi connection automatically. If the mirror finds a new Wi-Fi connection, use the Homewerks app to connect to the new Wi-Fi connection.
BUTTON DESCRIPTION ACTION
Light ON/OFF
  • Short press to turn light ON/OFF. The default color temperature will be 4000K cool white at 1000 lumens brightness.
  • The light will retain the last CCT and brightness settings when turned off and back on.

  • Short press to increase the brightness of the light. The light increases in brightness by 10% each time this button is pressed.
  • The light will retain the last brightness setting when turned off and back on.

| Decrease brightness|

  • Short press to decrease the brightness of the light. The light decreases in brightness by 10% each time this button is pressed, until it reaches a low of 10% of the light output.
  • The light will retain the last brightness setting when turned off and back on.

  • Short press to change the color temperature of the light. There are 4 color temperatures: 5000K daylight, 4000K cool white (default), 3000K soft white, and 2700K warm white.
  • The light will retain the last color temperature when turned off and back on.

  • Short press to activate Alexa.
  • Long press for 5 seconds to enable WPS or restart the Wi-Fi pairing process

  • Long press for 5 seconds to activate BLUETOOTH pairing.

  • The wake up light is activated during setup and when Alexa is actively engaged.

SETTING UP AND PAIRING YOUR ALEXA MIRROR TO THE HOMEWERKS CONNECT APP

Occasionally, there are updates to the app which may change the steps below.
If you are having any difficulty with the steps below, please go to HomewerksConnect.com/Mirror to check for updates.

  1. Connect your phone or smart device to a steady 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection that can be accessed where your mirror will be installed.

  2. Download the Homewerks Connect app from your smart device compatible app store.
    If you don’t have an Amazon Alexa account, download the Amazon Alexa app from the app store and choose “Create a new account”.

  3. If using IOS, open the Amazon Alexa app and log in to your Amazon Alexa account with your User ID and Password, then click “Sign In”.
    IMPORTANT:
    If using Android, this step is not needed.

  4. Long press the microphone button. The mirror wake up light will turn on.

  5. The mirror speaker will say “Now in set-up mode”. If you do not hear “Now in set-up mode” , long press the (  ) button on the mirror control panel for 5 seconds to enter set-up mode.

  6. Open the Homewerks Connect app on your smart device and follow the instructions provided in the app.

  7. In the Homewerks Connect app, select “Add device”, select “Mirror” and then click “Next.”

  8. If you have connected power to the mirror, click “Next”. If you have not connected power to the mirror, please connect the power supply to the mirror.

  9. Click “Indicator is Blinking” and the app will search for the mirror. Once the app has discovered the mirror, identified as MIRROR, click “Set up this device”.

  10. Set up Wi-Fi for the mirror by entering the password for the same 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signal your smart device is connected to and click “Next”. The app will then connect the mirror to Wi-Fi. Once the mirror is connected to Wi-Fi, click “Next”.

  11. The Homewerks Connect app will now search for and install the latest version of the firmware. Please be patient while the firmware is updated to provide you with the best experience.

  12. Now the Homewerks Connect app will need you to log in to your Amazon Alexa account. Click “Get Started,” then enter the User ID and Password for your Amazon account. Select “Keep me signed in” and then click “Sign In”.

  13. After logging in to Amazon, choose your preferred language.

  14. When the next Amazon Alexa screen says “Alexa is ready”, click “Next” and then “Next” again to initiate the pairing process.

  15. After pairing the mirror to the app, the commands in this step will activate the special skills needed to control functions of the MIRROR light. Click “Connect” on the next screen. Connect the Homewerks mirror skills by clicking “Link”. Then click “Link” again. To finish the process, click “Done” and “Done” again. IMPORTANT FOR ANDROID USERS: After clicking “Connect” and “Link” , the app will need you to log in to your Amazon Alexa account again.

  16. A list of available names will appear in the app and MIRROR will be selected as the default setting. Click “Next” in the upper right corner of the app screen.

You have successfully completed the set-up process and your Homewerks mirror is ready for use. You can now speak your commands or questions to Alexa, control the mirror via the Homewerks Connect app, or use the included control panel!
IMPORTANT: To operate the mirror using standard Alexa commands, Step 14 must be completed successfully. To activate the special skills needed to control additional functions of the mirror, please complete all steps. If the set-up process fails for any reason after Step 14, click the Gear icon ( ) next to MIRROR in the Homewerks Connect app. Then click “Amazon Alexa Settings” and select “Link skill”. Continue to pair the Homewerks Connect app to your Amazon Alexa. Please follow the Homewerks Connect app instructions until the Amazon log in and pairing process are complete.

OPERATING THE MIRROR USING ALEXA COMMANDS

The following commands can be used with Alexa in your mirror: If the device name is MIRROR:

  • Alexa, turn on MIRROR light.
  • Alexa, turn off MIRROR light.
  • Alexa, dim MIRROR light.
  • Alexa, brighten MIRROR light.
  • Alexa, change MIRROR light to daylight.
  • Alexa, change MIRROR light to cool white.
  • Alexa, change MIRROR light to soft white.
  • Alexa, change MIRROR light to warm white.
  • Alexa, turn on MIRROR night light.
  • Alexa, turn off MIRROR night light.

IMPORTANT: If you rename the mirror from MIRROR to a custom name, your Alexa commands will need to be directed to the new name. For example, if you renamed the mirror as LED, your command would be “Alexa, turn on the LED light” or “Alexa, turn off the LED light”.
You can also ask Alexa to do other things for you in addition to operating the mirror. Examples include:

  • Alexa, play music.
  • Alexa, play Amazon music.
  • Alexa, play Spotify.
  • Alexa, turn up the volume.
  • Alexa, turn down the volume.
  • Alexa, order more shampoo.
  • Alexa, what is the traffic on the way to work?
  • Alexa, what is the temperature outside?
  • Alexa, play Jeopardy!®.
  • Alexa, play news.

CONNECTING YOUR BLUETOOTH® DEVICE TO THE MIRROR SPEAKER

  1. To play your personal music files, you need a wireless BLUETOOTH device. After the firmware upgrade is completed during the initial set-up and pairing, you will be able to connect your BLUETOOTH device directly to the mirror speaker.

  2. Set your device to a midrange volume level before connecting to the mirror speakers.
    ● The optimal volume setting for the BLUETOOTH speakers is 70% or lower. Settings higher than 70% may cause sound distortion.

  3. Long press the ( ) button on the control panel to activate BLUETOOTH ( ).

  4. From the Home screen on your smart device, choose Settings > BLUETOOTH, to search for MIRROR or the custom name you created.
    NOTE: While your device can maintain multiple pairing records, it can only connect to one accessory at a time. This prevents your device from sending your data to the wrong BLUETOOTH accessory.

  5. Select MIRROR from the list of available BLUETOOTH device options. If MIRROR does not appear on the list,speak “Alexa, BLUETOOTH Mode” and then “MIRROR”.

  6. When pairing is complete, use the mirror’s BLUETOOTH speakers to play audio from your device.

  7. If preferred, you can also connect to your BLUETOOTH device via the Homewerks Connect app. Download and open the Homewerks Connect app and follow the steps in the prior section to pair your Alexa mirror to the Homewerks Connect app.

  8. To switch to a Wi-Fi connection, just speak “Alexa…..” and the device will automatically switch back to a Wi-Fi connection.

  9. To switch back from a Wi-Fi connection to BLUETOOTH, press play from your BLUETOOTH device

SPOTIFY CONNECT

Use your phone, tablet, or computer as a remote control for Spotify. Go to spotify.com/connect to learn how.

To enable and link Spotify:

  1. Open the Amazon Alexa app and click ( ). Select “Skills & Games.” Search for “Spotify” and click “Enable the skill”.
  2. Follow the pop-up page to enter your Spotify user name and password to link it to your Amazon account.
    After completing these two steps, you can speak the command “Alexa, play music on Spotify”.

CARE AND CLEANING

Clean periodically with a soft cloth and glass cleaner.
Avoid spraying glass cleaner directly onto mirror. Avoid abrasive cleaners and harsh chemicals as they may damage the surface of the product.

TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION
BLUETOOTH®  device will not pair with the mirror. Another device is already
paired. Make sure BLUETOOTH signal is turned off on other devices.
The Homewerks mirror cannot be discovered by the Homewerks Connect app. The
mirror is not in set-up mode. Long press the (  ) button on the mirror

control panel for 5 seconds to enter set-up mode. The mirror speaker will say “Now in set-up mode”. Follow the steps in the Pairing your Alexa Mirror to the Homewerks Connect App section on page 7.
The mirror and the mobile device are not connected to the same Wi-Fi network.| Ensure that your mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network that the mirror was configured on.
Alexa is not responding to your commands.| The microphone on the mirror is muted.| If the red LED indicator is illuminated on the mirror, the microphone is muted. Press the (  ) button on the mirror control panel to unmute the microphone. The red LED indicator on the mirror will turn off.
The mirror may have lost the Wi-Fi signal or the mirror is not paired to your Amazon account or to the Homewerks Connect app.| Follow all of the steps in the Pairing your Alexa Mirror to the Homewerks Connect App section on page 7.
The Amazon Alexa and Homewerks Connect apps are logged into different accounts.| Sign out of the Amazon Alexa and Homewerks Connect apps. Sign into each again using the same account.
There is no sound coming from the speaker.| A sotware problem has occurred.| Perform a factory reset by pressing the Reset (  ) button for 8 seconds. NOTE: This will delete all user settings. After the factory reset, the speaker will need to be set up again. Follow the instructions on page 7.
Volume is turned down or off.| Turn up or turn on the volume.
The mirror is having Wi-Fi connectivity issues.| There is an unsteady network connection.| Make sure that your mirror is within range of your Wi-Fi router and has a strong and stable connection.
Other devices are causing interference.| Check that your mirror is away from any other devices that cause interference, such as microwaves, baby monitors, or other electronic devices.
Wi-Fi is not connected because the password was entered incorrectly.| Verify you have the correct Wi-Fi password. If your Wi-Fi password recently changed, update your device’s Wi-Fi settings.
Network congestion is causing poor signal strength.| If you have several devices connected to your Wi-Fi network, try removing some of them to reduce congestion.
No Wi-Fi signal is being received.| The mirror is 2.4GHz Wi-Fi compatible. Please make sure your smart device and mirror are connected to 2.4GHz.

BLUETOOTH® SPEAKER – ONE YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY

If the BLUETOOTH speaker fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship at any time during the first year of ownership, the manufacturer will replace it free of charge, postage-paid at their option. This warranty does not cover products that have been abused, altered, damaged, misused, cut or worn. This warranty does not cover use in commercial applications. Use only manufacturer- supplied genuine warranty repair replacement parts to repair this mirror. Use of non-genuine repair parts will void your warranty. The manufacturer DISCLAIMS all other implied or express warranties including all warranties of merchantability and/or fitness for a particular purpose. As some states do not allow exclusions or limitations on an implied warranty, the above exclusions and limitations may not apply. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may have other rights that vary from state to state.
This warranty is limited to the replacement of defective parts only. Labor charges and/or damage incurred during installation, repair, replacement as well as incidental and consequential damages connected with the above are excluded. Any damage to this product as a result of neglect, misuse, accident, improper installation or use other than the purpose SHALL VOID THIS WARRANTY.
