Test before installation

Note: If the battery is installed incorrectly, the alarm will not work and may be damaged. When the alarm works as intended, the red LED flashes every 40 seconds.

1. Open the package and detach the base from the alarm by turning it counterclockwise.
2. Remove the batteries and the protective film. Insert the batteries.
3. Hold the test button down until the red LED light flashes and you hear the alarm repeat three short warning sounds every 1.5 seconds. This means that the alarm works.

Hush mode

When the alarm is on, press the TEST button in the middle of the alarm. The alarm will enter a silent mode for about 10 minutes. When the alarm is in silent mode, the LED indicator flashes approximately every 8 seconds. After 10 minutes in silent mode, the alarm will automatically resume normal functioning. If there is still smoke in the room after the alarm resumes its normal functioning, the alarm will continue normally. The silent mode can be turned on again until the smoke that caused the alarm has dissipated.

Installation

1. Choose a suitable location to install the smoke alarm. The smoke alarm MUST NOT be installed
   • in an area where the temperature may fall below 0 °C or exceed 40 °C
   • near appliances that may generate smoke, such as a stove or fireplace
   • in damp or humid areas
   • directly in front of windows or doors or near ventilation valves or radiators
   • within 50 centimeters of fluorescent or energy-saving lamps.
2. Attach two plastic mounting plugs for the smoke alarm base in the location you have chosen.
3. Attach the base into the plugs with screws.
4. Make sure the battery is inserted and securely connected. You can test the operation by pressing the test button. Attach the alarm into the base by turning it clockwise.
5. Press the test button to test the alarm again.

Maintenance and operation

1. The smoke alarm should be tested weekly and every time the batteries are replaced.
2. If the product does not function as intended, follow the instructions in the Faults and troubleshooting section below. If it still does not work, contact the retailer. Do not open the alarm yourself.

Faults and troubleshooting

1. Fault: Nothing happens when the test button is pressed. Cause: the batteries may be installed the wrong way round. Solution: Make sure the battery terminals are connected properly.
2. Fault: The lower alarm tone (low battery) is heard every 40 seconds.

Cause: the battery voltage is too low.

Solution: Replace the batteries.

Safety instructions

• Do not install or touch the device with wet hands or in a humid environment.
• Do not disassemble the alarm.
• If the product is broken or damaged, do not use it. Instead, replace it with a new, intact product.
• The smoke alarm will not work if the battery terminals are not connected correctly. Incorrect installation of the batteries may damage the device.
