Start-up
Prior to first use, clean the kettle thoroughly from the inside. To do so, open
the lid by pressing the button on the handle.
A mesh filter is fitted in the spout to hold back large limescale and calcium
deposits when pouring out the water.
The section of the power cable not in use can be wound up and stored on the
underside of the base. Connect the power plug to a shockproof socket.
Fill in at least so much water that the water level is visible on the water
level indicator, but no higher than the max mark. Close the lid. Only then
will the automatic boiling stop work reliably.
Set the kettle on the base facing in any direction. Only then push the ON
switch under the handle downwards.
When using the kettle for the first time, do not use the boiled water for
preparing food or beverages.
Automatic switch-off
Shortly after the water has started to boil, the automatic switch-off function
will shut down the kettle automatically. If the kettle is filled with only a
small quantity of water, the switch-off period will be increased.
If you require warm but not boiling water, the heating process can be
interrupted at any time by pressing the ON switch.
For functional reasons, a small amount of condensed water may run out through
the openings at the bottom of the handle and onto the rim of the base. This is
due to technical reasons and does not impair the safety of the appliance.
Safety system
If the kettle is accidentally operated without water, a thermostat protects
the kettle from overheating by switching off the appliance.
Make sure to allow the kettle to cool down before filling with water.
If the first thermostat should fail due to misuse, an additional temperature
limiter offers reliable protection.
Cleaning and maintenance
Disconnect the appliance from the mains and allow it to cool down. Never
immerse the appliance in water; simply wipe it over using a damp cloth with a
drop of washing-up liquid and then rub dry.
Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents.
The bottom of the kettle is made of stainless steel. If you notice rust stains
all the same, these are only deposits sticking to the surface. Remove these
immediately with a cleaning agent for stainless steel. The mesh filter in the
spout can be pulled off to clean when the lid is open. To remove, press up the
top lug. When inserting, place the mesh filter centrally against the bar and
then latch home to the front.
Descaling
Please descale your appliance regularly using a high-quality commercial
descaling agent. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions, particularly with
regard to the subsequent cleaning with clear water, which is essential!
Suitable descaling agents contain inhibitors that protect appliances against
damage to seals and surfaces, do not cause additional deposits and have no
taste. Do not use descaling agents that are unsuitable for your appliance
(such as substances based purely on vinegar or citric acid). Our warranty does
not cover damage caused by using unsuitable descaling agents or failure to
follow the descaling instructions. Please keep descaling agents out of reach
of children and make sure you do not inhale any of the steam given off during
descaling.
