SECURITY INSTRUCTIONS
Please read all the instructions carefully before using the appliance for the first time and keep them for future reference. FLAMA shall not be liable for any use that is not in accordance with the instructions. This appliance must be connected to an earthed socket. When placing the iron on its stand make sure that the surface on which it is placed is stable. The iron must be used and rest on a flat, stable surface. This appliance may be used by children aged 8 and over and by persons with limited physical, sensory or mental abilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they are supervised or have received instructions concerning the safe use of the appliance and understand the risks involved. Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning and maintenance must not be carried out by unsupervised children. Keep the appliance and the power cord out of the reach of children under the age of 8, when it is switched on or cooling down. Always remove the plug from the socket after each use and when cleaning. Do not remove the plug from the socket by pulling the power cord. Use only the water in the container without adding any other substance, as this may damage the appliance. It must be cleaned as indicated in the Cleaning and Maintenance instructions.
Please allow the appliance to cool down before carrying out with any cleaning or storage operations. Never leave the appliance unattended if it is switched on. The plug must be removed from the socket before the water container is filled. The filling hole must not be opened when the appliance is switched on. The iron must only be used with the stand that is provided. Do not use the appliance if it is not working properly, or if it is in any way damaged. Any intervention other than cleaning must be carried out by an Authorized FLAMA Technical Assistance Service. The appliance should not be used if it has tipped over and there are visible signs of damage or if there are leaks. Please contact the Flama Technical Assistance Service. Do not use the appliance if the power cord or plug are damaged. If the power cord is damaged, do not attempt to replace it. Have it replaced immediately at an Authorized FLAMA Technical Assistance Service in order to avoid a hazard. This product complies with the Low-Voltage and Electromagnetic Compatibility Directives. GENERAL INFORMATION
CAUTION
During operation or after ironing, never place the hot base on anything other
than the thermal insulation fixture.
Filling hole
Fill the water tank with water through the filling hole. Make sure that the
water does not exceed the maximum level indicated on the water tank. Use the
tank handle to handle the tank.
Temperature button
Turn the temperature button to set the ironing temperature based on the
fabrics to be ironed.
Min – Minimum temperature position.
- Indicated for synthetic fabrics and silk (70 °C<T<120 °C).
- Indicated for wool (100 °C<T<160 °C)
- Indicated for cotton (140 °C<T<210 °C)
- Max – Maximum temperature position – Indicated for linen (170°C<T<230°C).
Temperature indicator
When the appliance is plugged in, the temperature indicator light switches on.
As soon as the iron reaches the selected temperature, the light switches off.
The temperature indicator light switches on and off during the iron’s
operation, indicating that it is working properly.
Steam button
When the appliance has heated up to the selected temperature and the
temperature indicator switches off, gently press the steam button and steam
will be sprayed from the base of the iron.
Release the steam button for dry ironing, without steam.
Cleaning indicator button
The appliance should be cleaned when the cleaning button light switches on.
Before cleaning, prepare a container with capacity above 300ml to collect the
wastewater; then, place the iron inside the container and place the container
on a stable surface. An empty kitchen worktop can also be used instead of a
container. For more thorough cleaning of the circuit, check that the
temperature button is in the “Max” position before activating the cleaning
function.
NOTE:
The cleaning might not be as good or might not be carried out is in a position
other than “Max”. Press the cleaning indicator button for 2 seconds; an
audible alarm is emitted.
NOTA:
You should keep a distance from the appliance during the cleaning process so
as to prevent burns by high-temperature steam. The appliance enters into
cleaning mode and the cleaning indicator button light flashes. After
approximately 3 minutes, the cleaning is complete, and the appliance returns
to the operation mode. The cleaning indicator button light switches off.
Steam shot
A shot of steam can be activated by pressing the steam button twice in
succession.
Continuous steam
Press the steam button continuously for steam ironing.
Cable organizer clip
When not in use, the power cable and the steam supply hose can be tidied at
the base of the appliance, using the cable organizer clip.
OPERATION
Before first use
Remove any sticker, protective film or storage cardboard from the base.
Fill the water tank with water according to the “Steam ironing” section, heat
the iron to the maximum temperature, and iron a piece of damp fabric for a few
minutes to remove any residue from the base, according to the “Steam ironing”
section.
- NOTE: It is normal to smell a strange odor coming from the appliance upon first use. This odor disappears quickly.
- NOTE: It is possible that some particles leave the base when using the iron for the first time. This is normal. The particles are harmless and no longer leave the iron after a short period of time.
- NOTE: When plugging in the appliance, the appliance may emit a pumping sound. This is normal. The sound indicates that water is being pumped from the base to the iron.
- NOTE: A little steam may leave from base during the heating process, which stops happening after a few seconds.
Use
The appliance has two ironing modes. Dry ironing or steam ironing can be used.
Dry ironing Place the appliance on a stable and level surface. Always place
the iron on the thermal insulation fixture. Connect the power cable plug to
the wall socket; the appliance switches on. Turn the temperature button to the
intended setting, which depends on the item’s fabric; the temperature
indicator lights up. The iron begins to heat. When the temperature indicator
switches off, this means that the selected temperature has been reached. You
can now start ironing. WARNING: Never touch the hot base before it has cooled
down! Steam ironing Place the appliance on a stable and level surface. Always
place the iron on the thermal insulation fixture. Hold the water tank handle
and pull horizontally. Fill the water tank through the upper hole. We
recommend that you use purified water with less chalk particles (limescale).
The maximum capacity of the water tank is 1.2 litres and the water level
should never excess the “MAX” mark.
Place the water tank back in its correct position.
Connect the power cable plug to the wall socket; the appliance switches on. Turn the temperature button to the intended setting, which depends on the item’s fabric; the temperature indicator lights up and the iron begins to heat. When the temperature indicator switches off, this means that the selected temperature has been reached. You can now start steam ironing. Press the steam button gently, the steam will be sprayed from the base continuously, for steam ironing.
NOTE:
Water may drip during the spraying of the steam when the temperature is lower
than position 2 of the temperature button. This is normal. If you want to
activate the “Steam shot” function to remove difficult creases, continuously
press the steam button twice to produce a shot of steam.
CARE TO BE TAKEN
- Never touch the hot base at any time before it has cooled down!
- Never point the steam towards people!
- Do not activate the steam iron when the iron is placed on the base of the unit so as to prevent burns from steam.
After ironing, disconnect the power cable plug from the wall socket. However, the base will continue hot, so it should not be touched with your hands.
CAUTION
during operation or after ironing, never place the hot base on anything other
than the thermal insulation fixture.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Before cleaning, first disconnect the power cable plug from the socket and allow the appliance to cool. Clean the residues and any other deposits from the base with a damp cloth or a non-abrasive cleaning product (liquid).
NOTE:
Do not use chemical, steel, wood or abrasive cleaning products to scrape the
base.
Clean the upper part of the appliance with a soft damp cloth. Clean any water drops on the base of the unit and thermal insulation fixture with a dry cloth. Clean the inside of the appliance as specified in the “Indicator button” section.
NOTES:
If the cleaning indicator continues flashing and the appliance does not carry
out cleaning after the “Clean” function has been activated, check and make
sure that the temperature selector is in the “MAX” position. And the appliance
will continue to carry out the cleaning when the temperature button is turned
to the “MAX” setting. When not using the appliance for a long period of time,
empty the water from the tank, turn the temperature button to the minimum and
secure the steam supply hose and the power cable with the cable clip; then
store the appliance somewhere out of the reach of children.
ANOMALIES AND REPAIR
In case of malfunction, please take the appliance to an authorized Technical
Assistance Service. Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the appliance, as
this may be dangerous.
PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT
This symbol indicates the separate collection of electrical and electronic equipment. The main objective of the separate collection of this waste is to reduce the quantity to be disposed of, and promote reuse, recycling, and other forms of recovery in order to reduce its negative effects on the environment. When it is no longer in use, this appliance must not be disposed of together with other unsorted municipal waste. The user is responsible for delivering it free of charge to the selective collection facilities available for that purpose. Pieces of equipment that are no longer in use can also be taken back at points of sale, by purchasing new pieces of equipment that are equivalent and have the same functions. For more detailed information on collection points, please contact your City Council or a point of sale for this equipment.
