Operating Instructions
Connect to a power source: Plug one end of the power cord or car charger
adapter to the charger’s power input. Plug the other end of the cord into a
wall outlet.
Insert batteries: The i8 features 8 charging slots, which is capable of
charging the battery in each slot independently. (The i8 is capable of
charging Li-ion rechargeable batteries or 1.2V, Ni-MH/Ni-Cd rechargeable
batteries only. See above for a description of battery sizes.) After battery
installation, the i8 automatically activates and detects batteries. The red
power indicator will illuminate during charging. The green power indicator
will turn on automatically once charging has been completed.
NOTE:
- Recommend to put batteries on the same side in order to charge them at the fastest speed.
- When charging batteries of small capacity, the i8 will charge at the rate of 500mA. (For batteries of which lengths are less than 60mm, the i8 automatically identifies as small capacity batteries)
Active Current Distribution (ACD)
The ACD technology allows the i8 to actively distribute its power among 8
slots in an orderly manner. For instance, when a battery is almost fully
charged, the charger will divert a portion of its current to charge other
batteries.
USB output: the i8 supports USB output during charging, which max USB
output current is 2.1A. As shown in the diagram, 8 slots are considered as 4
sets. When any 1 or 2 sets are charging, i8 supports USB output
simultaneously; while more than 2 sets of battery is charging, i8 will charge
batteries first.
Battery Activation
The i8 is capable of activating depleted Li-ion batteries with a protective
circuit. After battery installation, the i8 will test and activate the battery
before charging. Note: Do not charge over-discharged (zero volts) UNPROTECTED
Li-ion batteries. Charging Li-ion batteries without a protective circuit may
cause fire or explosion.
Overtime Prevention
The i8 has overtime protection. It will individually monitor the elapsed
charging time for each battery slot and if a particular slot exceeds 20 hours,
the i8 will automatically stop charging and the green power indicators will
illuminate to indicate the completion of the charging process. This feature
reduces the risk caused by batteries of lower quality.
Reverse Polarity Protection and Short Circuit Protection
If there are batteries inserted with polar reversed or short-circuited, the
red indicator of the relevant channel will blink quickly to notify users.
Cautions
- The charger is restricted to charging Li-ion, IMR, and Ni-MH/Ni-Cd rechargeable batteries only. Never use the charger with other types of batteries as this could result in battery explosion, cracking or leaking, causing property damage and/or personal injury.
- The safe operating temperature for the charger is between -10~40°C, and the safe storage temperature is -20~60°C.
- Please charge batteries in accordance with the specifications on the back. Do not charge a battery pack with the charger.
- Observe polarity diagrams located on the charger. Always place the battery cells with a positive tip facing the top.
- Do not leave a working charger unattended. If any malfunction is found, please terminate the operation immediately and turn to the user manual for instruction.
- The charger is designed for adults. Use of the charger by kids under age must be under supervision. The operation, using or cleaning of the charger may NOT be done by kids aged 8 years or younger.
- Never attempt to charge primary cells such as Zinc-Carbon, Lithium, CR123A, CR2, or any other unsupported chemistry due to risk of explosion and fire.
- Do not charge a damaged IMR battery as doing so may lead to charger short-circuit or even explosion.
- Never charge or discharge any battery having evidence of leakage, expansion/swelling, damaged outer wrapper or case, color change or distortion.
- Use the original adapter and cord for the power supply. To reduce the risk of damage to the power cord, always pull by connector rather than the cord. Do not operate the charger if it appears damaged in any way.
- DO NOT store or use the product in an environment where the temperature is extremely high/low or changes rapidly, or in a confined area with a high temperature.
- Please operate the charger in a well-ventilated area. Do not operate or store it in damp areas. Keep all the inflammable volatile substances away from the operating area.
- Avoid mechanical vibration or shock as these may cause damage to the device.
- Do not place metal wires or other conductive material into the charger in case of explosion or other accidents caused by a short circuit.
- Do not touch hot surfaces. The rechargeable batteries or the device may become hot at full load or high power charging/discharging.
- Do not overcharge or over-discharge batteries. Recharge drained batteries as soon as possible.
- Remove all batteries and unplug the charging unit from the power source when not in use.
- Opening, disassembling, modifying, or tampering with the unit may invalidate its guarantee, check warranty terms.
- Do not misuse in any way! Use for intended purpose and function only.

Warranty Details
Our authorized dealers and distributors are responsible for warranty service. Should any problem covered under warranty occur, customers can contact their dealers or distributors in regards to their warranty claims, as long as the product was purchased from an authorized dealer or distributor? NITECORE’s Warranty is provided only for products purchased from an authorized source. This applies to all NITECORE products. To be qualified for a warranty, please refer to the “IMPORTANT WARRANTY NOTICE” section on top to validate your product. Any DOA / defective product can be exchanged for a replacement through a local distributor/dealer within 15 days of purchase. After 15 days, all defective/malfunctioning NITECORE® products can be repaired free of charge for a period of 12 months (1 year) from the date of purchase. Beyond 12 months (1 year), a limited warranty applies, covering the cost of labor and maintenance, but not the cost of accessories or replacement parts. The warranty is nullified if the product(s) is/are:
- broken down, reconstructed, and/or modified by unauthorized parties
- damaged from wrong operations (i.e. reverse polarity installation, installation of non-rechargeable batteries), or
- damaged by batteries leakage.
