Clearwater Lights Off-Road LED Light Kit Instruction Manual
General Information
Please be sure to read our instructions thoroughly before attempting installation.
About the Kit:
Thank you for purchasing Clearwater Lights for your JL! We have developed this LED light kit to be specifically for the 2018-2020 Jeep Wrangler JL models to be plug-n-play. The key features of this kit are:
Up to 30,000 Lumens of Forward LED Illumination
Fully Dimmable, On-Demand Controls
Vehicle Specific Light Mount
Vehicle Specific Headlight Jumper
Integrated High-Beam and Horn Feature
Removable Covers with Selective Yellow and Clear Lenses
About the Lights:
Clearwater Lights are high intensity LED auxiliary lights. The light projection is very useful on trails and mountain roads as it sends light far down the road as well as in the corners.
Do not use these with on coming traffic present unless the dimmer is turned down. Sevina lights work great for off road use due to the powerful light output and specific beam pattern they boast.
Clearwater Lights can be used in a “low” beam mode (dimmable 5-55% of max) and a “high” beam mode (100%). With the highbeam and horn feautes installed, the Clearwater Lights will automatically go to 100% when either the high beam or horn is pressed.
Note: Vehicle needs to be running before the lights will function properly.

Disassembly
First, park the vehicle on level, hard pavement or concrete to ensure it will
be stable during the installation.
Follow the manufacturers guidelines for disconnecting the battery(s). This is
important to prevent damage to the electrical system.
In order to mount the light brackets, the front grill must be removed first.
To do this, remove the six push clips located on the top lip of the front
grill that holds it in place. Using a small flat edge screwdriver or trim tool
may help. Once all push clips are removed, pull the top of the grill forward,
then pull the bottom of the grill out to unsnap the bottom clips.
Set the grill aside.
Mounting The Brackets
Gather the following parts for the Front Grill Mount:
Install the brackets along the cross-brace in front of the radiator using the
supplied carriage bolts, washers, nylock nuts and plates. The bolts go in from
the front. Then behind the brace, the plate, washer and nylock.
Loosely assemble the brackets on the cross bar to set the position.
Note: The brackets can be moved from side to side. Be careful not to block the slots in the cross bar, otherwise the grill will not be able to be reinstalled.
Once the position of the brackets are set, push down on the brackets while
tightening the nuts so that the top two bolts make contact with the crossbar.
This will ensure the brackets are secure and level. Tighten the brackets, and
again make sure brackets are level using a yard stick or straight edge to help
confirm the brackets are correctly seated.
Mounting the Lights
Mount the lights using the Clearwater Lights Mod Bracket and associated M8 and M10 hardware to the JL bracket. A dab of blue locktite or equivalent would be a good idea for the M8 threads.
Note: Use a level to ensure the lights are a couple degrees down from level with the ground so they do not blind oncoming traffic. If oncoming traffic is flashing you, your lights are pointed up too high and should be tilted down.

Installing Harness + Headlight Jumper
The harness should be mounted under the hood, located on the passenger side of
the vehicle between the battery and the fender well. Zip tie the harness in
place or use an existing bolt hole and bolt to securely fasten it.
Access to the passenger side headlight is required for a complete
installation. The air box will need to be lifted and moved out of the way and
can be done simply by pulling up on it to move it out of place. The headlight
plug can now be reached and unplugged. Insert the Clearwater Lights headlight
jumper in line between the headlight itself and the headlight harness from the
car.
Running Wires
Connect the the 24” and 40” light extension wires to the harness. Run them
from the harness to the radiator support bars/diagonal struts. Secure the
wires with zip ties to the frame or OEM wiring along the way. Be sure to keep
the wires away from sources of extreme heat and pinch points.
Plug the lights into the extension wires. Leave some slack in the light wires
so the grill has room to be reinstalled. Do not kink the grommet on the back
of the lights.
Connect the 8-pin data cable to the harness and run the cable clockwise around the perimeter of the engine compartment along the top of the firewall using the provided (4) zip tie clips to keep it in place. The data cable should be run through the driver side firewall access hole. Attach the dimmer control unit to the data cable inside the cabin.
Mounting the Dimmer & Switch
Find a good place to mount the dimmer and the switch in the dash or a panel of
your choice. You will need to drill two holes, one for the dimmer and one for
the switch.
To mount the dimmer, the star washer should be behind the dash, and the flat
washer, lock washer and nut should be in front. Tighten the dimmer nut and
push on the knob.
Switched Hot Wire + Horn Feature
There are two ways the switched hot wire can be installed, and will be based on your vehicle’s features/options.
For UpFitter Switch Enabled JLs:
Posi-Tap the Clearwater Lights switched hot wire (RED) to any of the available
UpFitter switch wires. The UpFitter wires should be located next to where the
Clearwater Lights harness was mounted, between the battery and the passenger
side fender-well. Note: The Clearwater Lights system uses the Upfitter
switches to send a only a small signal to a relay to turn our system on. The
full power of the lights will come directly from the battery, not the UpFitter
switch.
Horn Feature
Connect the WHITE wirefrom the Clearwater Lights harness to the GREY wire of
the passenger side horn using a Posi-Tap.
Last Steps
Connect the fuse/fuse-holder (attached to the positive power wire) to the positive terminal on the battery, and the black wire to the negative terminal on the battery. Reconnect the battery.
Test the lights and vehicle. Ensure that the Clearwater Lights dim when the vehicle is on low beam, that they go to 100% on high-beam and when the horn is pressed, and that the lights can be turned off with the dimmer switch. Once the lights are confirmed work-ing, reattach the front grill and air box. Congratulations, your Clearwater Lights have been successfully installed. Enjoy!
Aligning The Lights:
Clearwater Lights are designed as auxiliary lights, adjustment is up to the
user depending on his or her needs. Make sure the vehicle is on level ground.
Using a level, align the lights to be perpendicular to the ground, and then
down a couple degrees.
Do Not Kink The Grommet
To maintain the integrity of the water sealing grommet, do not kink, deform or
put pressure on the grommet when dressing the wires during install of
Clearwater Lights.
How To: Posi-Tap Guide
Posi-Tap:
- Unscrew the cap of the Posi-Tap (gray or large end).
- Slide the wire you wish to tap into through the slot in the cap.
- Re-attach the body of the Posi-Tap and tighten.
- Attach the other wire to the bottom using the same method as a Posi-Twist.
