Parts List and Bike Preparation

  •  Check the parts list supplied with your kit to be sure all parts are handy.
  •  First, park the motorcycle on hard pavement or concrete to insure the bike will be stable during the installation. If you can mount the bike on a stand with tie-down straps, this will help secure the motorcycle.
  •  Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for disconnecting the battery. This is important to prevent damage to the electrical system.

Note:
With the standard setup, your lights will stay on while the bike is on.If you want the ability to turn the lights on/off, you must connect the yellow wire from the trident adapter to the red wire on the wiring harness instead of the red wire shown. See pg. 4-5.Clearwater lights include a simple and high quality means of connecting to the motorcycle’s electrical system. “Posi” devices made by Posi-Products are used to securely and safely make electrical connections on the bike. You can view instructions on the proper installation of the Posi-Products on the manuals page of our website or on Posi-Product’s web site at http://www.posi-lock.com. They simply screw together and mate the wires.

Mounting The Lights / Fork Mount

  •  For R1200GSW: There may be reflectors on the fork tubes that interfere with mounting your Glenda / Darla lights. You will have to remove the reflectors. The best way is by using “DENTAL FLOSS”. We find that mint flavor wax floss works the best. (just kidding) Slide the floss back and forth to “cut” the foam tape behind the reflector.
  • Then clean any residue left by them and continue with the installation. Once your lights have been installed, use the provided double-stick tape to reattach the reflectors just above the Clearwater brackets.
  •  Attach the two clamp halves to the bottom of the machined fork tube using the supplied M3 x 10mm bolts as shown in the exploded view below.
  • Attach the universal bracket to the Glenda / Darla Light using two M6 x 14 bolts and two M6 flat washers.
  • Attach the universal bracket to the clamp with one M10 x 20 bolt and one M10 flat washer.
  •  Route the wires from the lights up the brake lines, making sure to leave a drip loop (see page X) at the light. Run wires to right hand side of the bike, leave loose behind fairing for now.

Aligning the Lights:
Ask an assistant to help you with this procedure. Make sure the bike is on level ground and have an assistant sit on the bike. With a right angle board or object, position the board on the floor and slide it up to the light. The goal is to adjust the lights so that the light is level with the ground.

Passengers and luggage may alter the alignment of the light, so further adjustments may be needed. You may find that a slight downward angle (5 degrees) is helpful.

Step 1: Parts List and Bike Preparation

  •  Some R1200GSW motorcycles have a TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) under the passenger seat while others do not. See pictures below for reference in deciding whether yours has this box or not.
  •  If you have a TPM, unplug the wiring harness from it and plug your Clearwater CANopener in it’s place. Then plug the wiring harness into the CANopener.
  •  If you do not have a TPM, you will find the wiring harness with the plug tucked into the right hand side of the compartment. It is secured with a zip tie to a clip that can be rather hard to remove. Once freed, remove the protective cap from the plug and plug the harness into your Clearwater CANopener. Plug the protective cap that you removed into the unused side of your CANopener to protect it and tuck it down into the compartment to get it out of the way.

Wiring: Non-TPM Bikes and 2016+ Bikes

Secure the CANopener to the plastic inner fender with provided Velcro strip. Be sure to clean any dirt or dust from area before affixing the CANopener. The Clearwater Lights harness should be mounted between the right side of the headlight assembly and the front-sub-frame (as shown above). Secure the harness in place with zip ties or a fastener or your choice. Connect the data cable to the harness and route it to the CANopener in the back of the bike. Plug the data cable into the CANopener. Route the power wires back to the battery compartment through the wire trough (as shown below). Connect the fuse /fuse-holder to the positive (red) power wire and use the battery ring terminal to connect to the battery.Route the light wires from the harness to the location of the lights. Use light extension wires if needed. Be careful to avoid suspension, steering components, pinch points and direct heat sources when routing wires. Connect the lights to the harness.Note: Bike engine must be running for lights to work.

Helpful Hints

To maintain the integrity of the water sealling grommet, do not kink, deform or put pressure on the grommet when dressing the wires during install of Clearwater Lights.
