Product Usage Instructions

Safety Precautions
Before using the Speed Bench Mobile Workstation, make sure to read and understand the operator’s manual and all safety labels affixed to the tool. Some key safety points include:

  • Always wear eye protection with side shields marked to comply with ANSI Z87.1.
  • Keep the work area clean to prevent accidents.
  • Avoid standing or sitting on the workstation to prevent tipping and serious injury.

Assembly
Refer to the assembly section of the manual (pages 5-7) for detailed instructions on how to properly assemble the Speed Bench Mobile Workstation. Make sure to follow each step carefully to ensure proper setup.

Operation
When operating the workstation, ensure that it is placed on a firm, level surface with enough room to handle and support your workpiece. Always check to make sure the workstation does not rock, slide, or move before use.

RULES FOR SAFE OPERATION

Safe operation of this tool requires that you read and understand this operator’s manual and all labels affixed to the tool.

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS

  • KNOW YOUR ACCESSORY. Read the operator’s manual carefully. Learn the product’s applications and limitations as well as the specific potential hazards related to this product.
  • KEEP THE WORK AREA CLEAN. Cluttered work areas and workstations invite accidents.
  • ALWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION WITH SIDE SHIELDS MARKED TO COMPLY WITH ANSI Z87.1. Failure to do so could result in objects being thrown into your eyes, resulting in possible serious injury.
  • ALWAYS GET HELP IF YOU NEED TO LIFT THE WORKSTATION. When lifting, hold the workstation close to your body. Bend your knees so you can lift with your legs, not your back.
  • WHEN HAULING THE WORKSTATION IN A VEHICLE, securely tie it down to prevent movement and possible damage.
  • Benchtop tools must be bolted or clamped to the tabletop of the workstation. Holes can be drilled into the tabletop to accept mounting bolts.
  • NEVER put the workstation where operators or bystanders are forced to stand with any part of their body in line with the path of any tool mounted to the workstation.
  • NEVER STAND OR SIT ON THE WORKSTATION. Serious injury could occur if the workstation tips. Do not store any items above or near the stand where anyone might climb on the stand to reach them.
  • MAXIMUM WEIGHT ON THE TABLETOP OF THE WORKSTATION MUST NOT EXCEED 400 POUNDS.
  • MAXIMUM WEIGHT ON THE SKID PLATE IN CART MODE MUST NOT EXCEED 300 POUNDS.
  • THE MAXIMUM WEIGHT OF ALL THE ITEMS PLACED ON EACH ACCESSORY RAIL MUST NOT EXCEED 15 LBS.
  • CHECK TO MAKE SURE THE WORKSTATION DOES NOT ROCK, SLIDE OR MOVE BEFORE USE.
  • PUT THE WORKSTATION ON A FIRM-LEVEL SURFACE where there is plenty of room to handle and properly support the workpiece.
  • SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS. Refer to them frequently and use them to instruct other users. If you loan someone this product, also loan these instructions.

TABLETOP
The tabletop includes angles, measurements, and mounting information to aid in completing projects.

SKID PLATE
The skid plate supports and provides a large area of trans-porting items in cart mode.

ASSEMBLY

UNPACKING
This product requires assembly.

  • Carefully remove the product and any accessories from the box. Make sure that all items listed in the Loose Parts List are included.

WARNING: Do not use this product if any parts on the Loose Parts List are already assembled to your product when you unpack it. Parts on this list are not assembled to the product by the manufacturer and require customer installation. Use of a product that may have been improperly assembled could result in serious personal injury.

  • Inspect the product carefully to make sure no breakage or damage occurred during shipping.
  • Do not discard the packing material until you have carefully inspected and satisfactorily operated the product.
  • If any parts are damaged or missing, please call 1- 800-525-2579 for assistance.

TOOLS NEEDED

  • Adjustable wrench
  • Socket – (3) 17mm (x2), 13mm, and 8mm
  • Phillips screwdriver.

CAUTION: Be careful to avoid pinching your fingers or hands when installing all the sections of the frame.
NOTE: SCAN THE QR CODE ON THE FRONT COVER OF THE OPERATOR’S MANUAL TO VIEW THE VIDEO ON HOW TO ASSEMBLE.

ATTACHING THE HANDLE

Use hardware bag #2.

  • With the workstation out of the box and the packaging removed, place the tabletop face down on a flat surface. Be sure it is a clean non-marring surface.
  • Locate the edge of the workstation (Sticker Label A) with the attachment bracket at the front of the tabletop.
  • Insert the handle (Sticker Label D) into the frame as shown.
  • Align the holes in the handle with the holes in the frame.
  • Insert the bolt through the holes in the handle and the frame.
  • Place a nut onto the bolt and tighten it.
  • Use a phillips screwdriver and adjustable wrench to tighten securely.
  • Repeat on the other side.

ALIGNING THE SKID FRAME TO THE TABLE FRAME

  • Locate the edge of the workstation (Sticker Label A) with the attachment bracket at the front of the tabletop.
  • The tabletop frame tubing on the front edge of the tabletop attaches to the skid frame. (Sticker Label B)
  • Insert the skid frame into the table frame tubing.
  • The rubber feet on the skid frame should be facing up.

NOTE: Do not install any hardware at this time. Hardware will be installed once all the pieces of the frame are aligned.

CAUTION
Be careful to avoid pinching your fingers or hands when installing all the sections of the frame.

ATTACHING THE WHEEL FRAME TO THE TABLE FRAME

  • Locate the wheel frame (Sticker Label C).

  • The tabletop frame tubing on the rear edge of the workstation (Sticker Label A) attaches to the wheel frame.

  • Place the wheel frame in between the two sections of the table frame assembly.

  • The release lever with the Lock Icon should be facing up.

  • Align the hole at the top of the wheel frame with the hole on the inner table frame tubing.

  • Two spacers are used in between the tubing. The spacers curved edges face outward and align with the curve of the tubing.

  • Stack two spacers with curved edges facing the tubing and slide along the tubing to fit between.
    NOTE: The spacers will need to be pushed into the space between the tubes with some force.

  • Insert the bolt through the holes in the wheel frame, the two spacers, and the table frame.

  • Place a nut onto the bolt and hand tighten.

  • Repeat on the other side.

FINISHING THE FRAME ASSEMBLY

  • Carefully raise the table frame assembly pieces to align the holes on the outer section of the table frame assembly and the wheel frame.

  • Use a bolt on one side to pin the lifted pieces in the proper alignment so that the remaining hardware can be installed. NOTE: The release lever must be disengaged and free to complete this step.
    NOTE Do not add the spacers on the pinned side. They will be installed later.

  • On the opposite side, stack two spacers with curved edges facing the tubing and slide along the tubing to fit between.
    NOTE: The spacers will need to be pushed into the space between the tubes with some force.

  • Insert the bolt through the holes in the table frame, the two spacers, and the wheel frame.

  • Place a nut onto the bolt and hand tighten.

  • Carefully remove the bolt used as a pin.

  • Stack two spacers with curved edges facing the tubing and slide along the tubing to fit between.
    NOTE: The spacers will need to be pushed into the space between the tubes with some force.
    NOTE: Some slight adjustments may be needed to align the tubing, spacer, and bolt.

  • Insert the bolt through the holes in the table frame, the two spacers, and the wheel frame.

  • Place a nut onto the bolt and hand tighten.

  • Use a phillips screwdriver and adjustable wrench to tighten securely.

  • All four connection points that were previously hand-tightened should be tightened securely.

NOTE: All hardware including spacers from bag #1 should be installed.

INSTALLING THE WHEELS

See Figure 8, page 13.

Use hardware bag #2.

  • Slide the axle bolt through the wheel, washer, and then through the holes in the wheel frame.
    NOTE: The washer is in between the wheel and the frame.

  • Place a nut onto the bolt and tighten it.

  • Use a socket and adjustable wrench to tighten securely.

  • Repeat the process on the other side to install the second wheel.

NOTE : Wheels should spin freely when installed. If they do not, loosen half a turn on the bolt.

INSTALLING THE SKID PLATE

See Figure 9, page 13.

NOTE: The workstation must be rotated so that the tabletop is facing up. It should rest on the wheels and the handle in a low folded position. Ensure that the release lever is in the locked position before rotating the workstation.
Use hardware bag #2.

  • Push on the wheel frame to ensure the release lever is in the locked position.
  • Carefully lift and rotate the workstation so the unit is resting on the wheels and the handle.
  • The workstation should be in a low-folded position.
  • Insert the skid plate (Sticker Label E) into the frame as shown.
  • The skid plate should be facing upwards.
  • Align the holes in the skid plate with the holes in the skid frame.
  • Insert the wing nut through the holes in the skid plate and the skid frame.
  • Tighten to secure.
  • Repeat on the other side.

INSTALLING THE LINK™ ACCESSORY RAILS
See Figures 10-11, page 13.
The LINK™ accessory rails are provided to use in attaching LINK™ compatible bins to create a storage space for small items needed for a project. The maximum weight of all the items placed on each accessory rail must not exceed 15 lbs.RYOBI-STM202-Speed-Bench-Mobile-Workstation-

Use hardware bag #3.

  • Locate the attachment bracket on the tabletop.

  • Align the holes in the LINK™ accessory rails with the holes in the attachment bracket.
    NOTE: The LINK™ accessory rails should be mounted with the RYOBI name facing up. The two rails will overlap slightly to align.

  • Insert the screws through the holes in the rail and the attachment bracket.

  • Place a nut onto the screw and tighten.

  • Use a phillips screwdriver and adjustable wrench to tighten securely.

  • The LINK™ double organizer attaches between two of the raised octagonal patterns on the LINK Accessory Rail.

NOTE: The attachment bracket and the LINK™ accessory rails can be moved around the edge of the tabletop using the pre-drilled holes provided.

To remove and relocate:

  • Using a phillips screwdriver and adjustable wrench, un-screw the three screws that hold the attachment bracket to the bottom of the tabletop.
  • Locate the desired location based on the pre-drilled holes on the bottom of the tabletop.
  • Insert screws and tighten them to secure them in the new location. NOTE: There are four options for mounting the attachment bracket.

WARNING: Do not allow familiarity with this product to make you careless. Remember that a careless fraction of a second is sufficient to inflict serious injury.

WARNING: Do not use any attachments or accessories not recom-mended by the manufacturer of this tool. The use of attachments or accessories not recommended can result in serious personal injury.

OPERATING IN THE WORKSTATION POSITION

The workstation position can be moved and secured to complete projects away from traditional workspaces. The workstation opens to hold large tools and saws or a working surface for smaller projects. The tabletop will hold up to 400 lbs. Benchtop tools must be bolted or clamped to tabletop of workstation. Holes can be drilled into the tabletop to accept mounting bolts. The tabletop images can be used to measure, cut at standard angles and mount larger tools directly to the work surface.

Workstation position:

  • Hold the handle with both hands.

  • Stand at the wheel side of the workstation.

  • With your foot, press and push the release lever on the wheel frame.

  • The tabletop will release and swing upwards and unfold the workstation.

  • Raise until the release lever clicks into place when fully extended.
    NOTE: The wheels will rotate back slightly, be aware of the workstation when unfolding.

  • Press down to ensure the release lever is locked.

OPERATING IN CART MODE
See Figure 15-16, page 14-15.
The workstation can be used to transport items. storage bins, tools and other equipment needed to complete a project can be stacked and moved to the desired work area. In cart mode, the workstation will hold up to 300 lbs.RYOBI-

Cart mode

  • Hold the handle with both hands.
  • With your foot, press down on the release lever on the wheel frame. This will disengage the release lever.
  • Pull upward and the workstation will fold into cart mode.
  • Raise until the release lever clicks into place when fully folded.
  • Press down to ensure the release lever is locked.

MAINTENANCE

WARNING: When servicing use only identical replacement parts. Use of any other parts may create a hazard or cause product damage.
WARNING: Always wear eye protection with side shields marked to comply with ANSI Z87.1. Failure to do so could result in objects being thrown into your eyes resulting in possible serious injury.

GENERAL MAINTENANCE
Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use. Use clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc.

WARNING: Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-based products, penetrating oils, etc., come in contact with plastic parts. Chemicals can damage, weaken or destroy plastic which may result in serious personal injury.
Periodically check all fasteners for tightness. Retighten as necessary.

STORING THE WORKSTATION

  • The workstation should be stored on a stable flat surface in the cart mode position.
  • All LINK™ double organizer bins or accessories should be removed from the workstation before storing.

CAUTION: If the workstation will not remain upright, store in the workstation position. Failure to do so may result in falling, resulting in injury or damage to the workstation.
