Flooring Installation Kit – Instructions
-
Spacers (see figure 1A) are used between the wall and the flooring to allow for natural expansion of wood products. Each Spacer is 1/4″ wide at its widest point, so by placing two or more spacers together it is possible to adjust the amount of expansion space by simply adding another spacer.
One spacer will provide a 1/4″ expansion space, two spacers placed in opposition (see figure 1B), will make up to a 1/2″ expansion space. The spacers have “serrated” edges that lock them into the correct position once a board is placed against them. -
The hard plastic tapping block (see figure 2) is designed to be used with a rubber mallet to gently tap two pieces of flooring together to close joints for a tight fit. It can be used with both adhered and glue less laminate or hardwood floating flooring systems. Start by placing the long edge of tapping block against flooring. With a rubber mallet, gently tap the other long edge of the tapping block to push the flooring together to form a tight fit.
-
The pull bar (see figure 3) is designed to be used mainly on the ends of the flooring material when there is no room for a tapping block. The pull bar has a tall end and a short end. Place the short end of the pull bar down so the lip hangs down over the end of the flooring panel. With the tall end pointing up, use a rubber mallet and gently tap the tall section pulling the flooring together.
IMPORTANT
- Every wood and laminate flooring manufacturer has their own installation procedures. We strongly recommend you read and follow the manufacturer’s installation procedures for the flooring you purchase. It is important to realize that failure to follow the instructions supplied by your manufacturer, or failure to use their recommended products may void their warranty.
