Universal Wheel Clamp and Magnetic Adapter
The user manual for the Wheel Alignment Turn Plates aims to provide clear
instructions for easy setup and safe operation of the turn plates.
Please read the instructions carefully before using the Turn Plates for wheel
alignment.
PRODUCT OVERVIEW
1.1 Introduction
Turn Plates are a reliable and essential tool for assessing and adjusting
front-end wheel alignment on compact cars and lightweight trucks.
Designed to provide accurate readings, these plates help identify whether
alignment adjustments are necessary. With a user-friendly setup and
compatibility with various vehicle models, the turn plates are a must-have for
technicians and enthusiasts seeking precise alignment measurements for optimal
vehicle performance.
1.2 Purpose
The Turn Plates are designed to indicate whether the front-end wheel alignment
of a compact car or lightweight truck requires adjustment. Proper alignment is
crucial for optimal vehicle performance, tire wear, and fuel efficiency.
1.3 Qualified Technician Recommendation
If the Turn Plates indicate a need for front-end wheel alignment adjustment,
it is highly recommended to have a qualified technician perform the service.
Qualified technicians possess the knowledge and expertise to accurately adjust
the alignment, ensuring precise results and preventing any potential damage to
the vehicle.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
3.1 Specific Product Warnings and Precautions
3.1.1 Weight Capacity and Dynamic Loading
- Do not exceed the weight capacity of the turn plates, which is 3,000 lbs. or 1.5 Tons per pair.
- Be cautious of dynamic loading caused by sudden weight drops, as it may briefly exceed the load capacity. Handle weights carefully to prevent any accidents.
3.1.2 Proper Surface and Positioning
-
Position the turn plates on a dry, flat, and level surface capable of supporting the weight of both the turn plates and the vehicle.
-
Ensure that you have a level surface available before starting the setup.
Uneven surfaces can affect the accuracy of alignment readings. -
Avoid uneven or slippery surfaces that may cause the turn plates to tip or slide during operation.
3.2 Before Starting
3.2.1 Alignment Plate and Weight Distribution
For optimal performance, it is recommended to use an alignment plate, such as
the ASWG008, under each wheel to distribute the weight evenly.
3.2.2 Tire Pressure
Ensure that the tire pressure is set according to the vehicle specifications
to achieve accurate alignment results.
3.2.3 Wheel Positioning and Locking
Before lowering the vehicle onto the turn plates, make sure the wheels are
facing straight forward and locked. This prevents the wheels from rolling off
the turn plates during the alignment process. For older cars, a brake pedal
stop can be used for this purpose.
3.3 Set-up
3.3.1 Place the Turn Plates
Position the turn plates on the ground, ensuring they are aligned parallel to
each other and perpendicular to the vehicle’s direction of travel. The scale plates
should face towards the front of the vehicle.
3.3.2 Lock the Turn Plates
Engage the locking mechanism on each turn plate to secure them in place.
This prevents any movement during the alignment process.
3.4 Lowering the Car
3.4.1 Wheel Positioning and Locking
Before lowering the vehicle, ensure that the wheels are still facing straight
forward and locked to prevent them from rolling off the turn plates. For older
cars, a brake pedal stop can be used for this purpose.
3.4.2 Wheel and Plate Alignment
Ensure all wheels and alignment plates are aligned with each other and facing
forward.
3.4.3 Proper Lowering Procedure
Lower the car onto the turn plates carefully. Avoid driving onto the turn
plates directly.
3.4.4 Guiding the Vehicle onto the Turn Plates
If driving onto the plates is necessary, enlist the help of another person to
act as a visual guide when driving the vehicle onto the turn plates.
3.4.5 Driving Speed and Vehicle Positioning
Drive onto the turn plates at the slowest speed possible. Stop the vehicle
when the front tires are centered with the scale pin
3.4.6 Suspension Settling
After lowering the vehicle onto the plates, settle the suspension by working
the wheels back and forth and pushing down on the car’s front end a few times.
3.4.7 Engine Shutdown and Rear Tire Blocking
Turn off the engine and engage the parking brake. Place the thrust blocks onb
each turn plate, aligning them with the vehicle’s tire tread. These blocks
will help stabilize the vehicle during the alignment process.
3.4.8 Transition Bridge
If necessary, place the transition bridge in front of the turn plates. This
bridge assists in smoothly guiding the vehicle’s tires onto the turn plates.
3.5 Alignment Procedure
-
Begin by removing the two locking pins from each Turn Table to ensure freedom of movement.
-
Turn the steering wheel of the vehicle as far to the right as possible.
While holding the steering wheel in this position, have another person take an accurate reading from the scale plate of each turn table. Make sure to measure the readings in degree increments. -
Compare the readings taken from both turn plates.
-
Next, turn the steering wheel of the vehicle as far to the left as possible.
Again, have another person take accurate readings from the scale plate of each turn table in degree increments. -
Compare the readings obtained from the scale plates with the recommended alignment specifications provided by the vehicle manufacturer or a qualified technician.
-
Assess the alignment based on the differences between the actual and desired values.
3.5.1 Alignment Assessment
- For most vehicles, if the comparison readings from the Scale Plate differ by only 0 to 5 degrees, it indicates that no front wheel alignment adjustment is necessary. In such cases, the alignment is within an acceptable range.
- However, if the comparison readings differ by more than 5 degrees, it is strongly recommended to have the front end wheel alignment serviced by a qualified technician. They will have the expertise and tools required to make the necessary adjustments.
- Please note that for precise alignment specifications and tolerance differences specific to the vehicle make and model being tested, it is advisable to consult the vehicle manufacturer’s manual and/or a qualified technician. They can provide the most accurate information regarding alignment tolerances for your specific vehicle.
3.6 Safely Removing the Vehicle
To remove the vehicle from the turn plates, lock the turn plates and reverse
the vehicle slowly. Ensure that the tires are aligned with the transition
bridge (if used) for a smooth exit.
3.6.1 Turn Plate Lock Release
Before storing the turn plates, engage the locking mechanism on each plate to
allow for easy removal and storage.
CLEANING, INSPECTION & LUBRICATION
Cleaning: After each use, clean the turn plates using a mild detergent
and water. Avoid using abrasive cleaners that may damage the surface of the
plates.
Inspection: Regularly inspect the turn plates for any signs of damage or
wear. Pay attention to the pins, scale plates, and locking mechanisms. If any
components are damaged or not functioning properly, discontinue use and
replace the damaged parts before proceeding with further alignments.
Lubrication: Apply a light coat of lubricant to the moving parts of the
turn plates periodically to ensure smooth operation. Use a lubricant
recommended by the manufacturer for best results.
