PREPARATION
NOTE: The torch is supplied without butane gas. Before use, it must be fuelled as follows:
GAS REFILLING
- WARNING! Extinguish any nearby naked flames or sources of ignition. Use only high-quality butane gas (lighter fuel).
- Ensure the ON/OFF adjustment knob is in the OFF position.
- Shake the gas container several times to warm the fuel up.
- Insert the container nozzle vertically down into the gas filling valve at the base of the gas tank.
- Use a pumping action to obtain the best results (fig.1).
- After filling, allow a few minutes for the gas to stabilise.
- NOTE: Before refilling, ensure that the filler valve and the probe on the can of lighter fluid are clean and free from dirt and debris.
- Check that the correct filling adaptor is fitted to the lighter fluid refill can.
- Ensure that the torch and the can of lighter fluid are at room temperature before commencing refill.
- WARNING! Lighter fluid is highly flammable – refill in a well-ventilated place, away from any sources of ignition.
- Fill in conjunction with the operating and safety instructions found on the can of lighter fluid.
- If any spillages occur during the refilling process, allow plenty of time for escaped gas to evaporate before allowing sources of ignition in the vicinity.
- Once full, check the torch for leaks by listening for a hissing noise. If the hissing persists, do not ignite and remove the torch to a well-ventilated area until the gas has escaped –do not allow any ignition in the vicinity of the tool.
OPERATION
WARNING! Ensure you have read and understood the safety instructions in Section 1 before using the torch.
LIGHTING THE TORCH
- Turn the adjustment knob counter-clockwise until escaping gas can be heard (fig.2).
- Press the ignition button and the flame will ignite (fig.3).
- If the flame does not ignite, check and adjust the gas/air mix by rotating the air control sleeve (see fig.A). Press the ignition button again to ignite.
TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT
- Using the adjustment knob, regulate the length of the flame to approximately 10-25mm.
- NOTE: An excessively long flame will waste gas.
- Adjust the temperature by rotating the air control sleeve and varying the size of the air inlet.
- Large air inlet = high temperature.
- Small air inlet = low temperature.
TURNING THE TORCH OFF
- Turn the adjustment knob clockwise to shut off the flame (fig.4).
