Navigation (@4.2)
In the case of regular powering off the head unit, the system will unmount the microSD drive to reduce the risk of data loss. It is still required for proper handling of the microSD card by the operator. Avoid ejecting the microSD Card directly while the head unit is still powered on. It is recommended to eject the microSD Card 10 seconds after the head unit is completely powered off. To avoid data corruption on the microSD card, handle the microSD card outside the microSD reader with care. Do not touch the pins and avoid electrostatic discharge (ESD). At PC follow the best practices on external storage devices like safe eject etc.

Step: 1 Download SW and preparation of a USB flash drive for the update process:

  • Download the self-extracting archive update file (exe file) from the XZENT website.
  • Copy the self-extracting file to a USB flash drive (small capacity size, FAT32 format). See picture 1.
  • Double-click the EXE file and extract it directly to the root directory of the USB flash drive. See picture 2.

Attention: in some rare cases, the USB flash drive may not be detected by the XZENT device. If one step fails, please re-check files (re-download, re- extract) or use a different brand/manufacturer USB flash drive item and/or change the memory size (<1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB …). Do NOT download and execute (extraction) directly to the PC. Do not copy the multiple extracted files to your USB flash drive – copy the single archive file to the USB flash drive and extract it there.

Once the installation is complete, a success message is displayed and the installed DR sensor FW version is displayed, which is required for version check at step 5 (4). The DR sensor version can be displayed again later by performing a . This briefly restarts the IC and interrupts the GPS signal.

Customers with older DAB FW than v15 installed, please update DAB FW. The DAB FW update can also be updated separately. A separate, newer DAB FW can also be made available for this
purpose at https://www.xzent.com/support/software/. If a separate DAB FW is published, you will find customised instructions with the version.

Remarks / Troubleshooting

  • V4.3 can only be installed on v4.1 or newer. If an older SW is installed, update first to v4.1.
  • In v4.3 the APP/MCU SW installing process needs to be started via Settings > Others > Install Software.
  • The SW can only be completely installed if the USB-1 port is used. DAB FW and DR Sensor FW can be updated directly (see steps 3 and 4)
  • With the DAB FW update, a FULL SCAN can first be triggered on devices that have an empty station list. The
  • THE FULL SCAN dialogue and the DAB update dialogue can overlap here. You can cancel the FULL SCAN without any problems to see the installation progress better.
  • If an ERROR appears in a sub-step – the USB stick should be checked and replaced or redone (format, download, extract, copy).
  • In case of an APP installation ERROR, the device can restart in a continuous loop until a USB stick with a correctly readable APP update is found.
  • The device can be temporarily switched off or disconnected from the power supply until a working USB stick can be connected.
  • It can happen that the MCU update will not progress visibly and stay at 0%.
  • In case the progress bar does not advance after 1 minute, simply restart the device to try another time – in this case, completed APP updates will not repeat but the MCU update will be triggered again.
  • If the problem remains the same after 2nd try, please verify the updated files and repeat the USB stick preparations.
