HOW TO ASSEMBLE V-BRAKE?
To assemble V brakes, follow these steps:
- Start by attaching the V-brake arms to the frame or fork of your bike. Place the brake pads in the slots on each arm and tighten the bolts securely.
- Attach the brake noodle to the brake arm. The noodle is a metal tube with a bendable section that helps guide the brake cable. Insert the straight end of the noodle into the brake arm and secure it with the provided bolt or pin.
- Thread the brake cable through the noodle and pull it through until there is tension. Make sure the cable is properly seated in the noodle and is not frayed or damaged.
- On the brake lever, locate the cable anchor bolt or pin. Loosen it enough to allow the cable to pass through.
- Thread the cable through the anchor bolt or pin and tighten it so that it holds the cable securely in place.
- Pull the brake lever to make sure the brake arms move inward towards the rim and that there is proper tension in the cable. Adjust as necessary by tightening or loosening the cable anchor bolt or pin.
- Check the positioning of the brake pads. They should sit flat on the rim and be aligned with the braking surface. Adjust the angle or positioning of the pads if needed.
- Test the brakes by squeezing the brake lever. Make sure the brake pads engage the rim properly and provide enough stopping power. Adjust the tension or position of the brake cable if necessary.
- Repeat the process for the other brake arm if you have a set of front and rear V-brakes on your bike.
