HOW TO ASSEMBLE DISC BRAKE?

To assemble a wire pull disc brake, also known as a mechanical disc brake, follow these steps:

  1. Start by attaching the disc brake caliper to the appropriate mounting points on the frame or fork of your bike. Use the provided bolts or mounting hardware to secure the caliper in place.
  2. Install the brake pads into the caliper. Most mechanical disc brakes have either a spring retention system or a pin that holds the pads in place. Make sure the pads are properly aligned and secure.
  3. Next, locate the barrel adjuster on the brake lever. This adjuster allows you to fine-tune the cable tension. Turn the barrel adjuster all the way in (clockwise) to create maximum slack in the cable.
  4. Thread the brake cable through the appropriate cable routing on the bike and through the mechanical disc brake caliper. Make sure the cable is properly seated and not frayed or damaged.
  5. Attach the cable to the caliper by pulling it tight and using a pinch bolt or similar mechanism to secure it. Make sure the cable is properly tensioned and securely fastened.
  6. Turn the barrel adjuster on the brake lever counterclockwise to decrease the cable tension and take up any excess slack. Adjust the barrel adjuster until the brake pads are positioned close to the rotor, but without rubbing against it.
  7. Squeeze the brake lever a few times to check the brake pad position and ensure smooth braking. If necessary, fine-tune the cable tension using the barrel adjuster.
  8. Finally, test the brakes by squeezing the brake lever. Ensure that the brake pads engage the rotor smoothly and that you have sufficient braking power. Make any necessary adjustments to the caliper position or brake lever tension as needed.
