Intended use

This device is only intended for non-commercial use indoors, in sheltered and enclosed spaces for weighing food. Uses for a different purpose or for a purpose that exceeds this description are considered incompatible with the intended or designated use.

  • Use the device exclusively for its intended use.
  • Observe the procedural methods described in this Operating Manual.

General Safety information

PLEASE NOTE
Please observe the following general safety notices about the safe handling of the device.

  • Examine the device for any visible external damages before using it.
  • Never put a damaged device into operation.
  • This device can be used by children aged 8 and above, and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or a lack of experience and/or knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the device in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
  • Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be done by children.
  • Children are not allowed to play with the device.
  • The device and its connecting cable must be kept away from children who are less than 8 years old.
  • Only customer service departments authorized by the manufacturer may carry out repairs on the device, as otherwise, the 0guarantee entitlements will be null and void in the event of any subsequent damages. Improperly performed repairs can cause considerable dangers for the user.
  • Defective components must always be replaced with original replacement parts. Only such parts will guarantee that the safety requirements are fulfilled.

Transport inspection

WARNING
Do not allow children to play with packaging materials due to the risk of su location.

PLEASE NOTE

  • Examine the shipment to ensure the unit and manual are included and inspect the unit for any visible damage.
  • Immediately notify the carrier and/or the supplier about an incomplete shipment or any damage as a result of inadequate packaging or mishandling.
  • You will need 3 batteries to use the scales (1.5V/ AAA – not included).

Setup location requirements
To ensure the safe and trouble-free operation of the device, the setup location must fulfil the following prerequisites:

  • The device must be set up on an rm,  and horizontal surface with sufficient load-bearing capacity for the scale and the maximum weight of the food that should be weighed.
  • Choose the setup location in such a way that children cannot reach the device.
  • Do not set up the device in a hot, wet or extremely damp environment or near flammable material.

Please read the information contained herein so that you can become familiar with your device quickly and take advantage of the full scope of its functions. Your appliance will serve you for many years if you handle it and care for it properly. We wish you a lot of pleasure in using it!

Information in this manual
These operating instructions are a component of the Kitchen scales/precision weighing scales CASO KitchenDuo (referred to hereafter as the Device) and provide you with important information for the initial commissioning, safety, intended use and care of the
device. The Operating Instructions must be available at all times on the device. This Operating Manual must be read and applied by every person who is instructed to work with the device:

  • Commissioning,
  • Operation,
  • Troubleshooting and/or
  • Cleaning
  • Keep the Operating Manual in a safe place and pass it on to the subsequent owner along with the device.

All the technical information, data and notices about the installation, operation and care are completely up-to-date at the time of printing and are compiled to the best of our knowledge and belief, taking our experience and findings into consideration. No claims can be derived from the information provided, the illustrations or descriptions in this manual. The manufacturer does not assume any liability for damages arising from a result of the following:

  • Non-observance of the manual

Unpacking

To unpack the device, proceed as follows: Remove the device from the carton and remove the packaging material. If possible, keep the original packaging for the duration of the guarantee period in the event a return is necessary.

Operation and Handling
This chapter provides you with important information and notes on the operation and basic settings of the appliance.

Inserting the batteries
Open the battery cover on the bottom of the device and insert 3 new batteries (1.5V/ AAA – not included in the scope of delivery). Following this, close the battery cover.

PLEASE NOTE
Remove the batteries if you are not planning to use the scales for a longer period.

  • Make sure that you insert the batteries correctly (+/- terminals).
  • Only use batteries of the same type; do not mix different types or used and new batteries.
  • Remove empty batteries from the device without delay and dispose of them safely!

Increased risk of leakage!
Replacing the batteries
When the batteries are low, the display will show the error “Lo” and the scales will turn themselves after a short time. Change the batteries as described in the “Replacing the batteries” section below.

Operation of the appliance
Changing between kitchen scales and precision scales operation These scales can be used as both kitchen scales and precision scales. When using them as kitchen scales, the weighing platform (1) must be placed on the device base. When using them as precision scales, remove the weighing platform (1) from the device base. To change between the two different operating modes, press the button while the scales are turned on.

Symbols on the control panel

Weighing

  1. Place the scales on a hard, at surface.
  2. Press the button (6) to turn on the scales. The device will be set to the last unit of weight and operation mode used and show the weight 0.
  3. Place the object to be weighed on the scales. You will see the corresponding weight on the control panel.

TARE function

  1. Place the object to be weighed in the weighing bowl.
  2. The LED display will show the weight.
  3. Press the button.
  4. The control panel display will show the weight 0.
  5. Place any further objects to be weighed on the scales to add their weight to the total.
  6. When you remove the object/s to be weighed, the scales will show the negative weight.
  7. Repeat Step 3 and the control panel will show 0.

Weighing units (unit function)
Briey presses the button to change the weighing unit (ml, oz. g/kg).

HOLD function
Press the and buttons simultaneously to activate the “HOLD” function (H-ON will appear on the control panel). If the object/s to be weighed are so big that you cannot see the control panel, then this function will ensure that the weight continues to be displayed on the control panel after you remove the object/s. Press both buttons again to deactivate this function (H-OFF will appear on the display).

Switching
The scales switch automatically after 2 minutes. You can also turn them manually by pressing the button

Cleaning and Maintenance

This chapter provides you with important notices about cleaning and maintaining the device. Please observe the notices to prevent damages due to cleaning the device incorrectly and to ensure trouble-free operation.

Safety information

ATTENTION
Please observe the safety instructions, before cleaning your device:

  • Clean the unit after every use. Failure to clean the unit regularly can lead to potential malfunctions, as well as safety and health risks.
  • Never immerse the scale in water or other liquid
  • Do not put it in the dishwasher.
  • If moisture penetrates the unit’s housing, it can damage the electronic components.
  • Please ensure that no moisture enters the device.
  • Do not use any hard or abrasive cleaning agents
  • Do not attempt to scrape  stubborn grime with hard or abrasive tools

Cleaning
Clean the housing, the weighing platforms and the control panel with a soft damp cloth.

Troubleshooting

This chapter provides you with important notices about operating the device. Observe the following notices to avoid dangers and damages:

ATTENTION

  • Repairs of electrical appliances must be carried out by a quality person who is trained by the manufacturer.
  • Repairs performed by untrained persons may result in considerable hazards for the user and damage the machine.

Troubleshooting table
If an error occurs, then an error code will appear on the control panel display. It describes the reason for the error.

PLEASE NOTE

  • If you cannot solve the problem by carrying out the steps described above, our Customer Service will help you free of charge.
  • Clean the device before you send it to customer service.

Disposal of the Old Device

  • Old electric and electronic devices frequently still contain valuable materials.
  • However, they also contain damaging substances, which were necessary for their functionality and safety. If these were put in the non-recyclable waste or were handled incorrectly, they could be detrimental to human health and the environment.
  • Therefore, do not put your old device into the non-recyclable waste under any circumstances.
  • Utilise the collection point, established in your town, to return and recycle old electric and electronic devices. If necessary, contact your town hall, local refuse collection service or your dealer for information.
  • Ensure that your old device is stored safely away from children until it is taken away

Disposal of the packaging

The packaging protects the device against damage during transit. The packaging materials are selected from environmentally compatible and recycling-related points of view and can therefore be recycled. Returning the packaging to the material loop saves raw materials and reduces the quantities of accumulated waste. Take any packaging materials that are no longer required to “Green Dot” recycling collection points for disposal.

Guarantee

We provide a 24-month guarantee for defects caused by production or material faults, beginning on the date of purchase. Our guarantee is valid for Germany, Austria and the Netherlands. For all other countries, please contact us. Your legal guarantee claims as per Art. 437. German Civil Code (BGB) will remain unaffected by this. You may exercise your statutory guarantee rights free of charge. The guarantee does not cover damage caused by improper handling or use of the product or defects that have only a minor impact on the product’s functionality or value. In addition to this, the guarantee also excludes parts that are subject to wear and tear; transport damages insofar as we are not responsible for them and damages caused by repairs which were not carried out by us.

This product has been constructed for non-commercial use (domestic use) and its performance is designed to meet the corresponding needs. The guarantee only covers commercial use insofar as it is comparable to domestic use. The product is not intended for any
other type of commercial use. In the case of legitimate complaints, we may either repair the defective product or replace it with a defect-free product at our discretion. Obvious defects must be notified to us within 14 days of the product’s delivery. Any further claims are excluded. When making a guarantee claim please contact us before you return the product (always with the purchase receipt!). Our contact details (“Guarantor”) are provided at the beginning of this instruction manual.
