Safety warnings

1. This product is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the product by a person responsible for their safety.
2. Local regulations may restrict the age of the operator.
3. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the product.
4. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

Training

1. Read the instructions carefully. Be familiar with the controls and the correct use of the machine.
2. Never allow children or people unfamiliar with these instructions to use the machine. Local regulations can restrict the age of the operator.
3. Never operate the machine while people, especially children, or pets are nearby.
4. Keep in mind that the operator or user is responsible for accidents or hazards occurring to other people or their property.

Preparation

1. Before use check the supply and extension cord for signs of damage or aging. If the cord becomes damaged during use, disconnect the cord from the supply immediately. Don’t use the product if the cord is damaged or worn.
2. While mowing, always wear substantial footwear and long trousers. Do not operate the product when barefoot or wearing open sandals. Avoid wearing clothing that is loose fitting or that has hanging cords or ties.
3. Thoroughly inspect the area where the product is to be used and remove all objects which can be thrown by the product.
4. Before using, always visually inspect to see that the cutting blade, cutting blade bolts and cutting blade assembly are not worn or damaged. Replace worn or damaged cutting blades and bolts in sets to preserve balance. Replace damaged or unreadable labels.
5. CAUTION! Do not touch a rotating cutting blade.
6. CAUTION! Do not touch the cord before disconnecting the supply.

Operation

1. Operate the machine only in daylight or in good artificial light.

2. Avoid operating the product in wet grass, where feasible.

3. Always be sure of your footing on slopes.

4. Walk, never run.

5. Mow across the face of slopes, never up and down.

6. Exercise extreme caution when changing direction on slopes.

7. Do not mow excessively steep slopes.

8. Use extreme caution when reversing or pulling the machine towards you.

9. Stop the cutting blade if the product has to be tilted for transportation when crossing surfaces other than grass, and when transporting the product to and from the area to be mowed.

10. Never operate the machine with defective guards or shields, or without safety devices, for example deflectors and/or grass catcher, in place.

11. Start the product or switch on the product carefully according to instructions and with feet well away from the cutting blade.

12. Do not tilt the machine when switching on the motor, except if the machine has to be tilted for starting. In this case, do not tilt it more than absolutely necessary and lift only the part, which is away from the operator.

13. Do not put hands or feet near or under rotating parts. Keep clear of the discharge opening at all times.

14. Do not transport the product while the power source is running.

15. Keep the supply and extension cord away from the cutting blade.

16. Stop the machine, and remove the disabling device. Make sure that all moving parts have come to a complete stop
    • whenever you leave the product,
    • before clearing blockages or unclogging chute,
    • before checking, cleaning or working on the product,
    • after striking a foreign object. Inspect the product for damage and make repairs before restarting and operating the product;

17. If the product starts to vibrate abnormally (check immediately)
    • inspect for damage,
    • replace or repair any damaged parts,
    • check for and tighten any loose parts.

Maintenance and storage

1. Disconnect the product from the power supply before checking, cleaning or working on the product and when it is not in use.
2. Disconnect the product from the power supply before carrying out maintenance or cleaning work.
3. Improper maintenance will lead to malfunction/failure of the product.
4. Inspect and maintain the product regularly. Keep all nuts, bolts and screws tight to be sure the product is in safe working condition.
5. Check the grass catcher frequently for wear or deterioration.
6. Be careful during adjustment of the product to prevent entrapment of the fingers between moving blades and fixed parts of the product.
7. Always allow the product to cool before storing.
8. When servicing the blades be aware that, even though the power source is switched off, the blades can still be moved.
9. Replace worn or damaged parts for safety. Use only genuine replacement parts and accessories.
10. Wear strong work gloves when removing and reassembling the cutting blade.
11. Have the product repaired only by an authorized service centre or similar qualified specialist.
12. When not in use, store the product out of the reach of children.
13. The product should be supplied via a residual current device (RCD) with a tripping current of not more than 30mA.
14. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a special cord or assembly available from the manufacturer or its service agent.

Vibration and noise reduction
To reduce the impact of noise and vibration emission, limit the time of operation, use low-vibration and low-noise operating modes as well as wear personal protective equipment.
Take the following points into account to minimize the vibration and noise exposure risks:

• Only use the machine as intended by its design and these instructions.
• Ensure that the machine is in good condition and well maintained.
• Use correct attachments for the machine and ensure they are in good condition.
• Keep tight grip on the handles/gripping surface.
• Maintain this machine in accordance with these instructions and keep it well lubricated (where appropriate).
• Plan your work schedule to spread any high vibration tool use across a longer period of time.

Emergency
Familiarise yourself with the use of this machine by means of this instruction manual. Memorise the safety directions and follow them to the letter. This will help to prevent risks and hazards.

• Always be alert when using this machine, so that you can recognise and handle risks early. Fast intervention can prevent serious injury and damage to property.
• Release the start lever, wait for all parts to come to a complete stop and then disconnect the power cord from the mains if there are malfunctions. Have the machine checked by a qualified professional and repaired, if necessary, before you operate it again.

Before you start

Unpacking

• Unpack all parts and lay them on a flat, stable surface.
• Remove all packing materials and protective shipping materials, including the foam pads fitted on the rear wheels.
• Make sure the delivery contents are complete and free of any damage. If you find that parts are missing or show damage do not use the machine and contact your dealer. Using an incomplete or damaged machine represents a hazard to operators and property.
• Ensure that you have all the accessories and tools needed for assembly and operation. This also includes suitable personal protective equipment.
  WARNING! The machine and the packaging are not children’s toys!
  Children must not play with plastic bags, sheets and small parts! There is a danger of choking and suffocation!

Assembly
WARNING! The machine must be fully assembled before operation! Do not use a machine that is only partly assembled or assembled with damaged parts!
Follow the assembly instructions step-by-step and use the illustrations provided as a visual guide to easily assemble the machine!
Do not connect the machine to the mains before it is completely assembled!
NOTE: Take care of small parts that are removed during assembly or when making adjustments. Keep them secure to avoid loss.
01 Lower handle assembly

1. Insert the ends of the lower handle (7) into the slots on the cutting deck (16) (Fig. 1).
2. Push the lower handle (7) down until the screw holes are aligned.
3. Secure the lower handle (7) in place with 2 screws (15).

02 Upper handle assembly

1. Detach the wing nut (8) and washer (9) from the bolt (21).
2. Align the mounting holes on the upper handle (6) with those on the brackets of the lower handle (7).
3. Pass the bolts (21) through the mounting holes to the end, then secure the upper handle (6) and lower handle (7) with the bolts (21), wing nuts (8) and washers (9) (Fig. 2).
4. Apply inward pressure on both ends of the upper handle (6), firmly pushing it into the groove of the brackets of the lower handle (7).
5. While doing so, push the bolts (21) fully into the holes and fully tighten the wing nuts (8) to secure the upper handle (6) in place.
6. Secure the motor cord (23) against the handle frame with the cord clips (22) (Fig. 3).
7. Clip the spanner (20) onto the lower handle (7) for storage (Fig. 3).

Functions & Settings

Intended use
The 1800 W 36 cm hover lawnmower MCB1018HVM / TTB1019HVM is designated with a rated voltage of 220-240 V~.
The machine is intended for mowing grass only in lawns and grassed areas in domestic and hobby gardens.
The grass clippings are then either collected in the grass catcher (14) or mulched into the lawn.
It is not intended for mowing unusually high, dry, or wet grass, such as pasture grass.

• Do not transport people, children or animals on the machine.
• Do not use the machine to level out uneven patches.
• Do not use the machine on unstable, slippery, icy, stony, rough, marshy ground or over puddles that do not allow the consistency of the ground to be assessed;
• Do not use the blade on surfaces other than grass.

For safety reasons it is essential to read the entire instruction handbook before first operation and to observe all the instructions therein. This machine is intended for private domestic use only, not for any commercial trade use. It must not be used for any purposes other than those described.
WARNING! The machine may be used by an experienced operator* having read and understood the safety requirements provided within this instruction manual using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)!

• A trained operator is a person who has the competence and knowledge in the use and hazards associated with using a pressure washer as well as the precautions to be taken to limit these hazards.
  Safety devices and operating controls
  DANGER! Risk of injury! The machine must only be put into operation if no faults are found. If the safety lock-off button (2) or start lever (1) is defective, do not use the machine and have it repaired or replaced by a qualified professional.
  WARNING! Do not make any adjustments to the safety devices or operating controls. 01 Safety lock-off button
  The safety lock-off button (2) serves as a safety measure against accidental or unauthorized starts. Hold down the safety lock-off button (2) while using the start lever (1) to initiate the machine’s operation.
  02 Start lever
  The start lever (1) consists of two parts, positioned on the left and right sides of the upper handle (6), offering ease of use for both left-handed and right-handed operators.
  By pushing the start lever (1) towards the grip handle (3), the machine starts the motor and enables the rotation of the cutting blade (17). To stop the operation, release the start lever (1).
  WARNING! The cutting blade (17) continues to rotate after the start lever (1) is released. Always wait for all moving parts to come to a complete stop before accessing the underside of the machine.
  03 Cord strain-relief hook
  The cord strain-relief hook (4) secures the power cord (5), preventing tangles, snags, or accidental disconnections while mowing. Loop the power cord (5) through this hook after plugging it in to enhance safety and cord management (Fig. 4). 04 Grass catcher
  The grass catcher (14) collects the grass clippings during mowing when the mulch flap (12) is closed. During operation, the grass clippings pass through the correction chute (13) into the grass catcher (14). The grass catcher (14) is used to collect the grass clippings. When the grass catcher (14) is full, stop the operation to empty and clean the grass catcher (14) before mowing again.

Operation

Check before starting

• Ensure that the mowing area is free of unwanted material that could be picked up by the cutting blade (17) and thrown.
• Check the machine as well as the power cord (5) and the accessories for damage before each use. Do not use the machine if it is damaged or shows wear.
• Check for loose screws, misalignment or binding of moving parts, or any other condition that may affect the operation. If abnormal vibration or noise occurs, switch off and unplug the machine immediately and have the problem corrected before further use.
• Ensure that the cutting blade (17) is sharp, properly attached, and free from any damage or wear.
• Check the filling level in the grass catcher (14), empty if necessary.
• Always hold the grip handle (3) with both hands when operating the machine. Keep the grip handle (3) dry to ensure safe support.
• Ensure that the air vents are always unobstructed and clear. Clean them if necessary with a soft brush. Blocked air vents may lead to overheating and damage the machine.
• Release the start lever to stop the machine immediately if you are disturbed while working by other people entering the working area. Always let the machine come to complete stop before averting.
• Do not overwork yourself. Take regular breaks to ensure you can concentrate on the work and have full control over the machine.

WARNING! In some countries regulations define at what time of the day and on what special days the machine is allowed to be used and what restrictions apply!
Ask your community for detailed information and observe the regulations in order to preserve a peaceful neighbourhood and avoid committing administrative offences!
Setting the cutting height
WARNING! Switch off and unplug the machine from the mains, and wait for the cutting blade (17) to come to a complete stop before adjusting the cutting height.
WARNING! Always handle the cutting blade (17) with care, sharp edges could cause injury. USE GLOVES. Never use more than 3 cutting height spacers (part E). Spacers (part E) must only be fitted between the cutting blade (17) and the fan and NEVER between the cutting blade (17) and the blade bolt.
NOTE: Before using the machine for the first time, adjust the cutting height to match the lawn’s requirement.
The machine offers 4 cutting heights ranging from 12 mm to 33 mm. Select the suitable cutting height based on the grass type and conditions. For the first cut of each season, a higher cutting setting should be selected.

1. Turn the machine on its side.
2. Hold the cutting blade (17) firmly. Loosen the blade bolt using the spanner (20) and then remove the cutting blade (17) (Fig. 5).
3. Adjust the cutting height by adding or removing spacers (part E) as needed (Fig. 6).
4. Refit the cutting blade (17). The cutting blade (17) is reversible and can be fitted either way up.
5. Hold the cutting blade (17) firmly, and securely tighten the blade bolt to a torque of 10 N•m (Fig. 7).

NOTE: Store the spacers (part E) that are not being used on the spanner (20) to prevent loss (Fig. 8). Selecting the collect/mulch mode
NOTE: When dealing with tall grass growth, select the mulch mode to trim the long grass without collecting it. After the initial cut, perform a second pass using the machine in collect mode. This will result in a neat finish and effective grass collection.
01 Mulch mode

• Press the unlock button (11) and turn the collect/mulch mode selector (10) anti-clockwise to open the mulch flap (12) (Fig. 9).
• With the mulch flap (12) open, the grass clippings are repeatedly circulated within the cutting deck (16), getting further chopped into smaller fragments, and then distributed evenly across the lawn.

02 Collect mode

• Press the unlock button (11) and turn the collect/mulch mode selector (10) clockwise to close the mulch flap (12) (Fig. 10).
• With the mulch flap (12) closed, the grass clippings exit the cutting deck (16) and are then sucked through the collection chute (13) before being collected and stored in the grass catcher (14).

Mowing

| WARNING! Keep the extension cord clear of the working area. Position the cord so that it will not get caught on other obstructions while the machine is in operation.

| WARNING! Release the start lever (1) to stop the machine when crossing any gravelled areas, debris such as stones can be thrown by a rotating blade.
| WARNING! Always wear eye and ear protection when mowing.
| NOTE: The machine can only be started by pressing the safety lock-off button (2)  followed by pulling the start lever (1). Reverse operation cannot start the machine.

1. Connect the power plug to a suitable mains supply.
2. Make a loop in the power cord (5) and hang the loop onto the cord strain-relief hook (4).
3. Stand behind the grip handle (3).
4. While depressing the safety lock-off button (2), pull either start lever (1) towards the grip handle (3) and hold in place (Fig. 11).
5. Once started, release the safety lock-off button (2).
6. Continue to hold the start lever (1) against the grip handle (3) as you mow.
7. To switch the machine off, release the start lever (1).

| WARNING! The cutting blade (17) keeps rotating for a few seconds after the machine has been switched off. Do not touch the rotating blade.

| WARNING! If the machine strikes a foreign object stop immediately! Let the machine cool down and thoroughly inspect the machine for damage!
Have any damage repaired before restarting!
Extensive vibration of the machine during operation is an indication of damage!
The machine should be promptly inspected and repaired!

Mowing tips
WARNING! Do not mow a slope that has an angle of greater than 15°. Mow across the face of a slope and never up and down.

• To avoid cutting the power cord (5) and to collect grass clippings correctly, mow away from the mains and avoid twisting the power cord (5) (Fig. 12).
• Always keep the power cord (5) behind you and when you turn, move it to the side that has already been mowed.
• Avoid gripping the grip handle (3) too tightly. Instead, maintain a light and relaxed grip, allowing the machine to hover and glide smoothly over the grass.
• Do not mow when the soil or grass is wet. Wet soil and grass can stick on the blade and the underside of the machine, which can cause damage to the internal components.
• Avoid spraying chemicals on the lawn prior to mowing.
• When cutting thick grass, reduce your walking speed in order to allow for a more effective cut and a proper discharge of the grass clippings.
• Set the lawn mower to the maximum cutting height when mowing on uneven ground or in tall growth.
• Mow based on the height of the grass. Do not mow down more than a third of the total height of your grass each mowing.
• It is recommended to mow in the middle of the morning or in the late afternoon after a dry day. This reduces clumping, lawn damage, and heat stress on the grass.
• When making turns or changing directions, use gentle and gradual movements. Abrupt turns can cause the mower to lose balance or create uneven cutting lines.
• To achieve an even cut, overlap each mowing pass slightly. This helps to prevent missed spots and ensures a consistent appearance.
• To ensure optimal collection of grass clippings in the grass catcher (14), maintain a moderate and consistent pace while mowing and slightly overlap the cutting paths.
• Vary the mowing direction to promote upright grass growth and reduce soil compaction.
• Watch for holes, ruts, rocks, hidden objects, or bumps which can cause you to slip or trip. Tall grass can hide obstacles. Remove all objects such as rocks, tree limbs, etc., which could be tripped over or thrown by the cutting blade (17).
• Always be sure of your footing. A slip and fall can cause serious personal injury. If you feel you are losing your balance, release the start lever (1) immediately.
• Do not mow near drop-offs, ditches, or embankments; you could lose your footing or balance.

After use

• Switch the machine off and let it cool down.
• Always let the machine come to complete stop before removing the grass catcher (14).
• Empty the grass catcher (14) regularly.
• Check, clean and store the machine as described below.

Care and maintenance

The golden rules for care
WARNING! Release the start lever (1) and wait for all parts to come to a complete stop, and then unplug the machine before carrying out any checking, cleaning or maintenance tasks.

• Keep the machine clean. Remove debris after each use and before storage.
• Regular and proper cleaning helps ensure safe operation and prolongs the life of the machine.
• In the initial period of using the machine, inspect the cutting blade (17) once a week. If the wear during this period has been minimal, extend the inspection interval as desired.
• Do not operate it if any parts is found defective or worn. Replace worn parts as necessary or contact an authorised service centre for repair before using the machine again.

WARNING! Only perform repairs and maintenance work according to these instructions! All further works must be performed by a qualified specialist!
General cleaning
NOTE: Do not use chemical, alkaline, abrasive or other aggressive detergents or disinfectants to clean this machine as they might be harmful to its surfaces.

• Clean the machine with a dry cloth. Use a brush for areas that are hard to reach.
• Remove stubborn dirt with high pressure air (max. 3 bar).
• Check for worn or damaged parts. Replace worn parts as necessary or contact an authorised service centre for repair before using the machine again.

01 Emptying the grass catcher
NOTE: Regularly observe the filling level through the view window on the grass catcher (14) and empty the grass catcher (14) when needed to ensure optimal performance.

1. Lift the grass catcher lid (19) and detach the grass catcher (14) from the machine (Fig. 13).
2. Empty the grass catcher (14).
3. Lift the grass catcher lid (19) and refit the grass catcher (14).

02 Cleaning the grass catcher

1. After emptying the grass catcher (14), hose the outside and inside of the grass catcher (14) down and gently scrub the debris off using a soft brush.
2. Let the grass catcher (14) dry completely before attaching it to the machine.

03 Cleaning the underside of the machine

1. Turn the machine on its side.
2. Scrape the grass residue off from the underside of the cutting deck (16) using the scraper (20).
3. Scrub away any remaining grass clippings and debris on the underside of the cutting deck (16), and the wheels (18) using a soft brush.
4. Wipe the parts with a damp cloth.
5. To reduce grass clippings buildup, lightly spray some vegetable oil onto the underside of the machine after cleaning.
6. Set the machine to upright position after cleaning.

Maintenance
Replace the cutting blade (17) after 50 hours of mowing or every 2 years, whichever comes first, regardless of its condition. If the cutting blade (17) is cracked or damaged, replace it with a new one. Never use a blade bolt if the insulated head is damaged, cracked, or missing.
01 Cutting blade and blade bolts

| WARNING! Release the start lever (1) and wait for all parts to come to a complete stop, and then unplug the machine before reaching to the blade area.

| WARNING: Wear protective gloves when working on the cutting blade (17).
Replace the cutting blade (17) if it becomes dull, bent or worn. Replace the blade bolt when it shows signs of wear or damage. Use only the original spare parts for replacement.
| NOTE: Replace the cutting blade after 50 hours of mowing or 2 years whichever is the sooner regardless of condition.

1. Turn the machine on its side.
2. Loosen the blade bolt on the cutting blade (17) with the spanner (20) (Fig. 14).
3. Remove the blade bolt and cutting blade.
4. Fit the new cutting blade (type: GDH8BX.00.02) and tighten the blade bolt clockwise with a torque of 10 N•m.

Replacement parts
The following parts of this machine may be replaced by the consumer. Spare parts are available at an authorised dealer or through our customer service.

Repair
This machine does not contain any parts that can be repaired by the consumer. Contact an authorised service centre or a similarly qualified person to have it checked and repaired.
Storage

• Clean the machine as described above.
• Fold the upper handle (6) for storage (Fig. 15):

1. Loosen the wing nut (8) by rotating it anti-clockwise for approximately 6 complete revolutions.
2. Gently pull the ends of the upper handle outwards to detach them from the groove.
3. Fold the upper handle (6) over the machine housing.
   • Route the power cord (5) neatly around the handles (6, 7).
   • Store the machine away from corrosive materials, such as fertilizer or rock salt.
   • Store the machine in a dry, frost-free, well-ventilated place.
   • Always store the machine in a place that is inaccessible to children.
   • Cover the machine with a suitable cover or enclosure to protect it against dust.

Transportation

• Fold the upper handle (6) and route the power cord (5) neatly.
• Slightly lift the machine by gripping the lower handle (7) to move the machine on the wheels (18).
• When lifting the machine, grip the cutting deck (16) in a manner that the machine is balanced horizontally.
• If a suitable loading ramp is not available, ask another person for assistance when loading the machine on a vehicle.
• Secure the machine against slipping using bungee cords or other similar means when transporting the machine in a vehicle.
• Protect the machine from any heavy impact or strong vibrations which may occur during transportation in vehicles.

Troubleshooting
Suspected malfunctions are often due to causes that the users can fix themselves. Therefore check the machine using this section. In most cases the problem can be solved quickly.
WARNING! Only perform the steps described within these instructions! All further inspection, maintenance and repair work must be performed by an authorised service centre or a similarly qualified specialist if you cannot solve the problem yourself!

Waste electrical products should not be disposed of with household waste. Please recycle where facilities exist.
