Endless Pools D90079 Poolside Water Quality System Instructions
Section 1: Description
It is a common occurrence for air to become trapped in the plumbing after the initial pool fill, annual draining and refilling, or after any Water Quality System service work has been done. The common symptoms of air in the plumbing include: intermittent circulation pump operation (pump will start and stop), bubbles discharging from the Water Quality System Return Fitting, and a FLO error code displayed on the keypad. There are multiple ways to address this problem. The following instructions illustrate how to remove the air from the Poolside Water Quality System plumbing.
- Garden Hose
- Water-Pump Pliers or Strap Wrench
- Towel
TURN OFF POWER:
Turn off the power to the pool equipment at the main breaker or shutoff (Fig. 1).
FORCE WATER THROUGH WATER QUALITY SYSTEM:
Place a garden hose in the pool and turn on the hose to full pressure. Position the hose against the opening of the Water Quality System Return Fitting located on the left side of the front pool Hold the hose tight against the fitting creating a seal. This will force water through the Water Quality System and out the Skimmer. If there is air in the plumbing, you should see air bubbles discharge from the Skimmer. Leave the hose run for approximately 3-5 minutes (Fig. 2).
RESTORE POWER/RESTART SYSTEM:
Remove garden hose and turn on the power to the pool equipment. Allow up to 5 minutes for the Heater-Controller to re-boot. The circulation pump should turn on and run continuously. Once the system is fully rebooted, the water temperature will be displayed on the keypad. If the pump starts running intermittently or a FLO error appears on the keypad, refer to the detailed instructions below.
Section 3B: Removing Air From Plumbing By Opening Union
TURN OFF POWER: Turn off the power to the pool equipment at the main breaker or shutoff (Fig. 3).
ACCESS THE EQUIPMENT:
The Water Quality System is mounted to the backside of the front pool wall. Remove any skirting at the front of the pool to access the equipment. Remove the Isolation Cover by removing the two screws at the bottom of the cover (Fig. 4).
CLOSING WATER QUALITY SYSTEM RETURN:
Close the Ball Valve on the return side of the plumbing.
The valve is fully closed when it is perpendicular with the plumbing. The Ball
Valve on the suction side (above the pump) should be left in the open position
(Fig. 5).
NOTE: If the plumbing configuration does not have a Ball Valve on the
return side, the Water Quality System Return Fitting on the inside of the pool
will need to be plugged with a 1-1/2” (38mm) Threaded Plug with O-Ring. See
step 3B below.
PLUGGING WATER QUALITY SYSTEM RETURN FITTING:
Locate the Water Quality System Return Fitting on the left side of the front pool wall. Remove the directional Eyeball Fitting Assembly from the return fitting by unthreading the Lock Ring and Adapter. Needle nose pliers can be used to remove the Adapter if necessary. Thread the plug into the fitting (Fig. 6).
REMOVING AIR FROM PLUMBING:
Before proceeding, it is important to cover the circulation pump with a towel to prevent it from getting wet. Partially crack the Union open that is at the top of the pre-plumbed assembly above the pump. This will allow any air that is trapped in the plumbing to escape. You will hear the air as it’s purging from the plumbing. Once all air has been released, tighten the union (Fig. 7).
OPENING WATER QUALITY SYSTEM RETURN:
Open the Ball Valve on the return side of the plumbing (Fig. 8A) OR remove the Threaded Plug from the Water Quality System Return Fitting (Fig. 8B).
RESTORE POWER/RESTART SYSTEM: Turn on power to the pool equipment at the main breaker or shutoff. Allow up to 5 minutes for the Heater-Controller to re-boot. The circulation pump should turn on and run Once the system is fully rebooted, the water temperature will be displayed on the keypad. If the pump starts running intermittently or a FLO error appears on the keypad, turn off power and repeat steps 3-6.
REINSTALL COVER:
Once the system is fully operational, re-install the Isolation Cover (Fig. 9).
