Directions For Application
-
Prior to application, keep the skin dry and clear from oils and lotion. An alcohol wipe may be used to prepare skin for application.
-
Prepare AquaGuard for application by forming “tabs” in the backing strips at each corner. See Figure 1.
-
Using the tab, remove the top backing strip and apply the underlying adhesive to the skin. See Figure 2. « For subclavian sites: Place the adhesive on skin above the central line or port dressing.
« For internal jugular sites: Place the adhesive just above the dressing following below the contour of the jaw line and if possible toward the chin. -
Individually remove the side backing strips, pleat each side, and apply. See Figure 3. « For subclavian sites: Remove the side strip and create a “pleat” in the middle while placing adhesive on skin. Pinch the pleat then fold side-to-side while applying pressure to ensure good adhesion.
Repeat for other side.
« For internal jugular sites: Have patient tilt neck away from site. Remove side strip and place along side of the dressing site. If pleating is necessary, pinch the pleat then fold side-to-side while applying pressure to ensure good adhesion. Repeat for other side. -
Remove the bottom strip and place just below dressing site, pleating if necessary. See Figure 4.
-
Massage adhesive border against skin to ensure seal. See Figure 5 and 6.
Directions For Removal
- After shower, gently pat surrounding area dry before removal.
- Gently pull down in the direction of hair growth and discard.
Note: Some dampness may occur due to perspiration.
