CONTAINS IMPORTANT INFORMATION, GUIDELINES AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE PRODUCT AND ITS SAFE USE.
The electric steam sterilizer by the “CANGAROO” brand includes the following functions: sterilising; drying; milk/water warming; boiling and steaming eggs. This appliance helps for the fast and simultaneous sterilization of bottles and small accessories. Through the intensive heat of the steam the harmful bacteria are eliminated and thus contributes to the fast and safe sterilization of baby bottles and food accessories. The sterilizer can fit up to 6 different sized milk bottles and various baby accessories.

RECOMMENDATION AND WARNINGS FOR THE SAFE USE OF THE PRODUCT

WARNING: When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.

  • Use the appliance only for its intended purpose and as described in the user manual. If you use the appliance in a manner other than its intended use, there is a risk of damage that could lead to serious injury. Any damage caused by non-observance of these instructions will void the warranty.
  • If you do not clean the base of the sterilizer each week from lime scale, as described in “GUIDELINES FOR MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING”, the product will not work normally! We recommend you the use of boiled or filtered water in order to reduce the risk of limescale deposition.
  • This product is intended for household use ONLY and not for commercial, industrial or outdoor use.
  • This appliance can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
  • The appliance is not intended for use by children. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children.
  • Children shall not play with the appliance.
  • When the product is not being used, keep it in a dry and cool place away from the reach of children.
  • Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children.
  • Place the sterilizer only on solid, levelled and horizontal surfaces, resistant to high temperatures, away from direct sunlight and other heat sources ( cookers, heaters, open fires, and other electric appliances).
  • Only connect the appliance to an earthed wall socket. Always make sure that the plug is inserted into the wall socket properly.
  • The supply cord must be plugged to power outlet with the following specifications: AC220-240 V; 50 HZ; 600W.
  • Check if the voltage indicated on the bottom of the appliance corresponds to the local mains voltage before you connect the appliance.
  • Do not place the appliance on or near a hot gas or electric cooker, or in a heated oven.
  • Do not spill water on the mains plug.
  • Do not preheat the appliance.
  • Always place a fully assembled bottle with cap in the sterilizer before you add water.
  • Make sure that you have put the needed amount of water before turning on the bottle warmer.
  • Warning! When in use, the sterilizer contains hot water. Hot water can cause serious burns.
  • WARNING! HOT SURFACE! The accessible surfaces of the appliance may become hot during use and are subject to residual heat after use.
  • Do not move the appliance when it contains hot water.
  • Do not unplug the appliance when it is not in used.
  • Leave the appliance to cool down before cleaning.
  • Do not try to open or repair the appliance by yourself. In the case of damage contact the customer service center of CANGAROO in your country.

WARNING: In order to avoid the risk of electric shock:
NEVER IMMERSE THE APPLIANCE IN WATER!

  • Do not leave and do not keep the product in a place, where it can fall or can be pushed into sink or bath.
  • Do not immerse the supply cord, the plug or the appliance into water or other fluid.
  • WARNING: In order to reduce the risk of burnings, electric shock, fire and injuries:
  • Do not put accessories, which are not approved by the manufacturer and do not make any improvements or changes in the product as this will lead to its malfunction or damage.
  • During use, there is steam in the sterilizer that comes out via the lid opening. Beware of hot steam coming out of the device. Do not place your hands in front of or around the device during or immediately after the warming process.
  • Leave the sterilizer to cool down completely before using it again.
  • Do not use this product when there is damaged cord or plug, if it doesn’t operate properly, if it was dropped or damaged, or if it has been dropped into water. You should contact the sales agent, from which you have bought the product or the importer, in order the appliance to be repaired.
  • If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
  • Do not try to repair the product or the cable/ plug by yourself.
  • Keep the cord away from heat sources or hot surfaces.
  • Do not try to modify the product or to repair it by your self when there is damage. For advise contact an authorized service center or the shop, from where you bought the sterilizer.
  • Do not use spare parts, which are not the original ones, provided by the manufacturer or the importer.
  • When the product is not being used, store it in a dry cool place, away from direct heat sources, water or the reach of children.

MANUAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

I. BEFORE STARTING TO USE THE PRODUCT

  1. Before first use, clean up the individual parts of the sterilizer thoroughly. WARNING! DO NOT WASH THE BASE WITH WATER TO AVOID DAMAGING THE APPLIANCE. Parts must be perfectly dry before use.

  2. Place the sterilizer’s base on a flat and stable surface.

  3. Pour 100 ml of water into the opening of the sterilizer base as shown in Figure AD 1.We recommend you the use of boiled or filtered water in order to reduce the risk of limescale deposition. Do not pour more than the recommended quantity of water in the opening to prevent water from entering the outlet and damaging the appliance’s electric heater.

  4. Place the bottle and accessory stand on the base of the sterilizer so that the bottle holders face upwards, as shown in Figure AD 2.

  5. Replace the lid of the sterilizer (Figure AD 3).

  6. Plug the supply cord into electric power outlet and turn on the start button.
    Press the mode switch button (M) to select the disinfection or steam function.

  7.  Once the water has reached 100°C, it will turn into steam. When the water evaporates completely, the sterilizer will automatically turn off.

  8. Leave the sterilizer to cool down for about 3 minutes. Turn off the power switch and unplug the supply cord.

  9. Take off the upper lid, the tray and the main body of the sterilizer and pour out the residual water. Wipe and dry. Now the sterilizer is ready for use!

  • WARNING! If you do not clean the sterilizer’s base from scale deposition every week, as described in section “GUIDELINES FOR MAINTANCE AND CLEANING OF THE STERILIZER”, the product will not function normally! We recommend you to use pre-boiled or filtered water in the device in order to reduce the risk of lime scale deposition.
  • This sterilizer can fit up to 6 bottles with standard neck of any brand, as well as other baby feeding supplies, such as feeding bowls, cups and spoons.
  • The product can also be used for sterilizing accessories, which come into contact with milk – such as breast pump.
  • Note: Before sterilizing baby bottles and other accessories, first you must clean them with water and soft detergent!
  • Note: If you want to use the sterilizer again, you should wait about 1 hour after the first use.
  • WARNING! Never open the lid during sterilization. If the process is being interrupted, the items will not be sterilized.
  • Never use the sterilizer without water

II. METHODS OF USE (FUNCTIONS)

A. STERILISATION WITH DRYING: FIGURE 1

  1. Pour 100ml of water into the reservoir in the base of the unit. Do not add more than 100ml.
  2. Place the bottle and accessory stand on the base of the sterilizer so that the bottle holders face upwards, as shown in Figure AD 2.
  3. Arrange the items you wish to sterilize as follows: teats and pacifiers on the small accessory holder and bottles on the bottle holders. If you need to sterilize larger items, such as feeding bowls and plates, you can remove the bottle holders.
  4. Plug the supply cord to the power outlet and turn on the switch.
  5. Press the start button. Then press the mode switch button (M) to select disinfection with drying mode (disinfection + drying). After 3 flashes the mode is activated. Sterilization takes from 6 to 8 minutes, drying process about 60 minutes. The remaining minutes will count down on the display. Using “+” button you can increase drying time to 90 minutes.
  6. Once the sterilization cycle is complete, drying mode is automatically activated.
  7. Leave the sterilizer to cool down for about 3 minutes. Turn off the power switch and unplug the supply cord.
  8. Take off the lid and leave the unit until the steam spreads out. After that take out the sterilized objects.
    • Be careful – the sterilized items may still be hot.
  9. Take off all of the compartments of the appliance and pour out the residual water. Wipe dry the sterilizer.

B. STERILISATION: FIGURE 2

  1. Pour 100ml of water into the reservoir in the base of the unit. Do not add more than 100ml.
  2. Place the bottle and accessory stand on the base of the sterilizer so that the bottle holders face upwards, as shown in Figure AD 2.
  3. Arrange the items you wish to sterilize as follows: teats and pacifiers on the small accessory holder and bottles on the bottle holders. If you need to sterilize larger items, such as feeding bowls and plates, you can remove the bottle holders.
  4. Press the start button. Then press the mode switch button (M) to select sterilization mode. The indicator light will turn on and after 3 flashes the mode is activated. When water reaches 100°C, it turns into steam.
  5. Once the water has reached 100°C, it will turn into steam. When the water evaporates completely, the sterilizer will automatically turn off.
  6. Leave the sterilizer to cool down for about 3 minutes. Turn off the power switch and unplug the supply cord.
  7. Take off the lid and leave the unit until the steam spreads out. After that take out the sterilized objects.
    • Be careful – the sterilized items may still be hot.
  8. Take off all of the compartments of the appliance and pour out the residual water. Wipe dry the sterilizer.

C. DRYING: FIGURE 3

If you choose to leave the sterilized items in the sterilizer to dry, then as they are press the mode switch button 2 times to select the drying mode. The indicator light will turn on. After 3 blinks the mode is activated.
The programmed drying time is 60 minutes. With the “+” and “-” buttons you can increase or decrease the drying time. The maximum drying time is 90 minutes.

D. STEAM COOKING: FIGURE 4

  1. Pour 200ml of water into the reservoir in the base of the unit.Do not add more than 200ml.
  2. Place the bottle and accessory stand on the base of the sterilizer. You can remove the bottle holders. Put the eggs you want to boil in the center of the stand.
  3. Press the start button. Then press the mode switch button 5 times, which will select mode: steam. The indicator light will turn on. After 3 flashes the mode is activated. The programmed time is 20 minutes. With the “+“ and “-” button you can adjust the time.
  4. When the cooking process is finished, unplug the appliance from the on/off button and from the power outlet.
  5. Remove the lid and place it aside. Wait about 1 minute for the appliance to cool before removing the eggs.

E. WARMING BABY BOTTLE WITH MILK OR WATER: FIGURE 5

  1. Pour 100ml of water into the reservoir in the base of the unit.Do not add more than 100ml.
  2. Place the bottle and accessory stand on the base of the sterilizer. Put the bottle of milk or water in the center of the stand.
  3. Press the start button. Then press the mode switch button 3 times, which will select mode: warming. The indicator light will turn on. After 3 blinks the mode is activated. The programmed time is 40 minutes. With the “+” and “-” buttons you can increase or decrease the heating temperature (between 37 °C and 50°C ). Once the set temperature has been reached, the appliance will start to maintain a constant temperature.
  4. When you are going to remove the bottle from the sterilizer, unplug the appliance from the on/off button and from the power outlet.
  5. Remove the lid and place it aside. Wait about 1 minute for the appliance to cool before removing the bottle.

GUIDELINES FOR MAINTANCE AND CLEANING OF THE STERILIZER

  • ATTENTION! If you do not clean the base of the sterilizer from scale deposition every week, as described, the product will not function normally!
  • WARNING! Not cleaning the product according to the user manual and guidelines below will result in switching on of the protection and the heating base will be permanently damaged and unusable.

A. CLEANING:

  • Note: Do not use abrasive or aggressive cleaners (e.g. bleach) or sponge with abrasive surface for cleaning this device.
  • Never immerse the base , the supply cord or the plug in water or any kind of fluid.
  • Warning! Do not wash the sterilizer in dishwasher.
  • The tray/stand, the sterilizer body and the lid can be washed with warm water and soft liquid detergent.
  1. Before cleaning the product, switch off the power button, unplug the electric supply cord from the power outlet and leave the device to cool down.
  2. Remove the lid, the tray and the sterilizer body and wipe the product inside and outside only with a damp cloth. Then wipe dry!
  3. Do not use strong detergents for cleaning the unit – bleach, alcohol based ones (wet antibacterial wipes) or such with abrasive parts.

We recommend you to use pre-boiled or filtered water in the device in order to reduce the risk of lime scale deposition.
After cleaning the product, store it in a clean, dry place away from the reach of children

B. DESCALING:

  1. Pour 100 ml of vinegar and 200 ml of cold water into the reservoir in the base of the appliance. Leave the solution until the lime scale dissolves. After that pour out the solution and rinse thoroughly the reservoir. Leave the appliance to dry out before take it away for storage.
    OR:

  2. Mix one sachet with citric acid (10 gr) with 200 ml of water. Pour the solution in the reservoir in the base of the device. Turn on the sterilizer and leave it to heat the solution for 1 – 2 minutes.
    After that turn off and leave the device to cool out for about 30 minutes. Drain the solution and rinse thoroughly the inner part of the reservoir and wipe dry.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Water is leaking from the device. You may have put too much water. Do not
