The AD 18 is a compact Bluetooth class D amplifier with an integrated headphone amplifier that allows subwoofer output. Use it to power your passive speakers or to drive your headphones with an amplifier by connecting it to your computer (4ohm speaker produces 80Wx2 output power). Aluminum housing with sophisticated matting reduces interference. SDB sound with +-8 level treble and bass control is a patented feature. The unit is more appealing because of its independent headphone amplifier design and cutting-edge DSP technology.

I’m not sure what you mean by “substantial,” but for $10 to $20 extra, you could get an excellent small amp, 30W more each side, and a subwoofer out. I have three of them, each in their own room.

It will act them out. Just don’t anticipate the rich, full sound that those speakers are capable of producing.
What is the size of the external 24v DC power supply?
Mine is already tucked away, so approx measurements are same as the device itself. Power supply is actually a bit smaller but you also need space for the slack cord.
How does the 3.5mm input jack (aux), work on this amp?****
Mine did have a Hum in the background coming from a Fiio E10. I switched to a Coax Out — RCA –> RCA In — 3.5mm Input to the 3.5mm Input on the SMSL.
Does this have a Sub-out?****
Yes it does, but it is not labeled on the back, it’s in the user’s manual. You need to use the OPT1/COAX input with a 3.5 mm to RCA adapter cable (not provided).
Can I simultaneously listen to the optical and auxiliary inputs? I want to add two inputs and listen to them both simultaneously.****
One input at a time can be played, but you can easily combine your two sources by using two 1-to-2 RCA adapters, which you can then plug into the Aux port.
What is the crossover frequency for subwoofers, and is it programmable?****
Use the built-in crossover of your subwoofer instead, I don’t think it’s changeable.
Has this got a DAC?****
Yes, both optical and USB connections can be made straight to a laptop or other device. amazing features for the cost. I did learn, though, that it won’t play MP3s from a flash drive connected to the USB connection.
Will it be able to power the polk audio atrium 4 outdoor speakers and how does it compare to the orb amp?****
sufficient power. You didn’t specify which orb, but this is more powerful, hygienic, and connected than the orbs I have previously seen. I returned the less expensive orb from the Amazon Warehouse offer after trying it. There was no remote in the package, and the sound quality and volume seemed to be a little weak.
What distinguishes the ad-18 from the ad-18-2?****
Hello, the ad-18-2 is an improved model that just has a subwoofer output and a different USB chip. It also has an adjustable display brightness.

Can a Klipsch RP500M be driven by this?****
The Klipsch speakers can be driven by the AD18 without a doubt. In fact, I’ve also used it to quickly drive the RP600s.
Can I use the optical in with a Samsung Series 7 4K UHD TV?****
Yes, if your television has optical out.
