Safety instructions
Caution! Read the instructions carefully and ensure that all notes and instructions have been understood before operating the plucking machine. Failure to follow the notes and instructions may result in your inability to control the machine and may cause property damage and/or injury.
- Familiarize yourself with the instructions before use. Observe all the information and instructions in the manual and on the machine before starting work.
- Only set up the machine on a level and firm surface.
- Before use, check that all connections and cables are properly connected.
- All parts (nuts, screws, etc.) should be checked for tightness before each use. The vibrations of the machine may cause them to come loose.
- Wear appropriate protective clothing during use. Wear sturdy shoes and safety glasses. Do not wear sandals, trainers, or open-toed shoes, and never operate the plucking machine barefoot. Avoid loose clothing that can get caught in the moving parts and tie long hair securely.
- Only allow the machine to be operated by people familiar with the instructions and knowing how to use the machine.
- Keep children away from the work area when the machine is in use and do not allow children to operate the machine.
- Always maintain a safe footing and keep your balance when starting or operating the plucking machine.
- Only operate the machine in daylight or good artificial light.
- Do not operate the machine under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medicine.
- Note that the operator is responsible for accidents involving other persons or other persons’ property.
- Never operate the machine without suitable protective equipment and other protective devices.
- Do not make any modifications to the machine and never override protective devices.
- Only use the machine for its intended purpose. Improper use can lead to property damage and injuries. No responsibility is accepted for damage caused by improper use.
- Keep hands and feet away from the rotating parts and the underside of the machine.
- Always keep away from the outlet openings.
- Never leave the machine running unattended.
- Always move the machine to a safe storage area when not in use.
- Always unplug the machine from the mains before maintenance and cleaning.
- Always check the machine for damage or wear before use. If any parts are damaged, have them repaired by a qualified professional before using the machine again.
- Make sure that all safety devices are in working order.
- Never put live poultry into the plucking machine. All birds must be properly killed and scalded before processing.
- Switch off the machine and wait until it has come to a complete stop before removing poultry or feathers from the machine. Make sure that no body parts enter the machine during operation.
- Do not attempt to remove feathers or other debris from the feather chute when the machine is connected to the mains.
- Keep electrical connections away from areas where water can collect.
Operation
-
Connect the plucking machine to the mains and switch it on.
Caution! Do not start the machine if there is already an animal in it, as this will increase the current consumption, which will shorten the life of the electrical components. -
Start the water supply.
-
Put 1–2 pre-scalded animals into the drum of the plucking machine and wait until the machine has removed all feathers. Properly pre-scalded poultry should be free of feathers within approximately 15 s.
-
Turn off the water supply.
-
Switch off the machine using the off switch.
-
Wait until the machine has come to a complete stop.
-
Remove the poultry.
-
Disconnect the power switch from the mains if you do not want to use the machine afterwards.
Attention!
- Never operate the machine without the plucking tub, as body parts can get between the feather plate and the feather pan. A circuit breaker prevents operation without the tub. Do not override this circuit breaker.
- If the switch does not stop the operation of the appliance when the tub is removed, the switch is probably damaged. Have the switch replaced by a qualified professional.
- Do not climb on the running machine. Never reach into the running machine. There is a special risk of injury in the zone between the plucking plate and plucking hopper.
- Keep the mains plug away from surfaces where water may collect, as the appliance is powered by electricity and water. Check where water may collect and keep electrical connections away from these areas. Electrical connections and power cables should never be submerged under water.
- Only use the device as it has been delivered. Never remove components. Removing any component will increase the risk of injury.
Cleaning, maintenance, and storage
After each use
-
Let the machine run for 2 min with the irrigation on. This will rinse out most of the feathers and other debris.
Caution! Never reach into the running drum and do not hold cleaning tools the drum. -
Spray water under the feather plate to remove any feathers or debris between the feather plate and the feather pan.
Notice! Only use water and a mild cleaning agent for cleaning. The use of solvents, harsh chemicals, or abrasive cleaners may damage the machine.
Annually
- The unit, motor, and gearbox are sealed and maintenance-free.
- Check the plucking fingers for cracks and damage. Replace damaged plucking fingers.
- If possible, store the plucking machine inside and cover it to increase the service life of the plucking fingers and the motor components.
