TYPES OF TRIM TILE

PERFORMANCE-LX24-Bullnose-Trim-Tile-1 WHERE TO USE

  • Walls : If you’re tiling a backsplash or accent wall, unfinished edges that don’t match up with the wall will be visible. Placing a row of bullnose tiles around the perimeter of your design yields a more finished look. To determine the types of bullnose tiles that are available, check out the trim pieces that match the tile you choose.
  • Floors : A row of bullnose tiles can take the place of a wooden baseboard and give any bathroom floor a finished look. This added moisture protection will also help to preserve the bottom portion of your walls.
  • Corners: Bullnose tiles can also be used to smooth out sharp edges on tub surrounds or countertops. The outermost edges of shampoo niches can also be finished with bullnose rather than standard tile. And for bathrooms that feature a tiled privacy wall, bullnose tile can be used to soften sharper edges. This will not only streamline the overall design, but will also help to protect anyone who brushes up against the wall.
  • Decorative trim: Bullnose tiles can also be used as decorative trim or on the top of a half-tiled accent wall

JOLLY TRIM TILE

  • PERFORMANCE-LX24-Bullnose-Trim-Tile-2 Jolly trim is a linear trim or edge for tile. It can be ceramic or metal. It is used to finish a raw tile edge just like a bullnose tile. It can also be used as a liner to accent your design. It’s generally very narrow and long with a minimal profile, measuring about ½ x 12 x ¼.
  • PERFORMANCE-LX24-Bullnose-Trim-Tile-3This trim piece is used to turn a corner as well as to finish the edge of a backsplash, tub, or shower surround. Quarter round tile is a great option to where tile floors terminate at doorways to add a smooth edge to squared-off tile designs.
  • Quarter round tiles are a great functional option to provide a protective outside corner, but they can also be used as a decorative piece between other tiles, similar to the popular pencil tile!
  • Chair rail trim was originally created to prevent chairs from scuffing the walls, but has since evolved into more a decorative piece used to accent designs or cap a tiled edge. Chair rails typically serve as a more ornate version of a jolly where a trim finish is desired. Most often this trim piece is used to frame stove backsplashes and mosaic tile to bring dimension to the design.
  • Cove base tile is a curved tile that is typically used at the base of tiled walls to create a smooth transition between the wall and the floor. The primary purpose of the cove base is to cover the joint at which the two surfaces meet. The addition of a cove base helps to keep moisture out and makes cleaning easier.
