BEFORE YOU START
Some Klipsch® speakers have feet and other accessories that may need to be installed prior to use. Please refer to Diagrams 1, 2, 3 and 4 for installation.
ROOM PLACEMENT
Left and Right Main Channel Speakers
For optimum performance, Klipsch Group, Inc. (KGI) suggests placing your
speakers 6 to 15 feet (1.8 to 4.6m) apart. They may also be toed-in slightly
for better stereo imaging. The listening position should be about 1 to 1.5
times the distance separating the speakers. Refer to Figures 1 and 3 for
connection and placement.
Center Channel Speakers
Center channel speakers are designed to place dialogue and primary sounds
so that they appear to come from the video screen. The speakers should
therefore be placed as close to the screen as possible, preferably directly on
top of or below the screen. Refer to Figures 1, 2 and 3 for connection and
placement.
Rear Surround Channel Speakers
Klipsch WDST surround speakers should be placed approximately 2 feet above
the listening position. Typically this will be about 5-7 feet above the floor.
The surrounds should be placed on the walls directly adjacent to the listening
position. Another option would be on the wall behind the listening position.
The final surround speaker placement depends on your room’s characteristics.
They are designed to recreate the sense of space and ambience that many of
today’s surround sound technologies provide. Refer to Figures 1, 3 and 4 for
connection and placement.
CONNECTION
Conventional Connection
Using 16-12 gauge speaker wire, connect the RED “positive” (+) terminal of
the LEFT speaker to the RED “positive” (+) terminal of your amplifier’s LEFT
channel. Connect the BLACK “negative” (–) terminal of the LEFT speaker to the
BLACK “negative” (–) terminal of your amplifier’s LEFT channel. Repeat this
procedure for connecting all remaining speakers to the appropriate amplifier
channels. Refer to Figure 3. Make sure that no bare wires from any of the
connections touch any other terminals as this could cause a short and damage
your equipment. Reference Premiere are equipped with dual binding posts. If
single wire connection is used, the terminal connecting bar should remain in
place. If Bi-wire or Bi-amp connection is used, the terminal connecting bar
must be removed. Please see your receiver’s manual for further instructions.
Amplifier Requirements
Klipsch speakers are highly efficient and will operate easily on a wide
variety of amplifiers. All Klipsch speakers are 8-ohm compatible and can be
driven to very high levels with low distortion. Due to the high output levels
Klipsch speakers are capable of reproducing, exercise caution with the volume
control. Excessive volume over long periods can permanently damage your
hearing. Overdriving your amplifier could also damage your speakers. Check
with your dealer or amplifier manual to make sure your particular amplifier is
best suited to your application. We want you listening for a lifetime.

FAQs
What does a Klipsch RP-400C centre speaker do?
The centre channel speaker in a home theatre system is crucial since it reproduces about 70% of the dialogue from films and television shows. If you don’t have one, you are missing out on crucial information from what you are watching.
Is it possible to use a single Klipsch RP-400C centre channel speaker?
Actually, the centre channel speaker performs and produces excellent sounds on its own.
The Klipsch RP-400C centre speaker may it be placed behind the TV?
Frequently, the centre speaker ought to be put precisely beneath the TV. Place this at or close to ear level to faithfully imitate TV sound. If you can’t put it there, a close second is the space directly above the TV. Always have easy access to the TV.
Why are there two inputs on my Klipsch RP-400C speakers?
Manufacturers offer dual-input terminals so that customers can bi-wire their home theatre systems, improving audio quality and extending the theatre. In many home theatre setups, just one dedicated wire has to be connected from the amplifier to each speaker.
What qualities should the Klipsch RP-400C centre speaker possess?
Always seek out centre channel speakers with a “three-way design” with vertically aligned tweeter and midrange. As a result, it is able to create a larger soundstage, perform more closely to a full-range speaker, and accurately track the acoustic picture over the front stage.
Is the Klipsch RP-400C centre speaker suitable for playing music?
The centre channel in a home theatre is best for talking but not for music.
Is a Klipsch RP-400C centre speaker that is bigger better?
Although a larger centre will produce more sound at lower frequencies, in your situation it won’t usually be necessary. Three identical speakers arranged across the front would be the best speaker arrangement, producing a better centre speaker and greater sound quality.
Can I use a soundbar instead of a centre channel speaker with the Klipsch RP-400C?
No, substituting a soundbar for the centre speaker will lower audio quality. Though they seem similar, these two speakers actually differ greatly from one another.
Where do you put a Klipsch RP-400C centre channel speaker?
Always place the centre channel speaker as close to the image as you can, whether in front of or behind the screen. To prevent sound lobing, which can erode dynamics and clarity, place the speaker flush with the front edge of any furniture.
Is it possible to put the Klipsch RP-400C speaker in the middle of the floor?
You can, but saying “on the ground” literally won’t sound nice. It’ll probably sound terrible in use. Yes, provided you mean the bottom shelf when you say “lower shelf.” To ensure that it is precisely pointing up into the listening area, the positioning will likely need to be altered.
How high should my Klipsch RP-400C centre speaker be placed?
First, try to place your centre speaker as close to ear level as you can. Frequently, the centre channel speaker is placed above or below your flat- panel TV.
Is it important to centre the Klipsch RP-400C centre speaker?
The centre channel speaker should be CENTERED above or below the display, not offset from it. If the centre channel speaker cannot be centred on the display, it is best to use NO centre channel speaker.
Which size should I pick for my Klipsch RP-400C centre speaker—smaller or larger?
Your Center channel should normally be set to the same size as your Front L/R speakers for timbre matching considerations. Of course, if your centre channel speaker is incapable of handling the full range, you should set it to “Small.” Remember that the centre channel in a surround sound setup provides dialogue.
Can the Klipsch RP-400C centre speaker be positioned above the TV?
In theory, you most definitely can. There are no problems at all with doing that. It may be possible to install the centre channel when a television is typically mounted on a wall bracket by using a cabinet, a shelf, or some other item that is placed above the TV.
Is the Klipsch RP-400C Center speaker’s volume too low?
No, when tuned properly, the middle shouldn’t be louder than the fronts. Due to the setup’s numbers, the centre is not louder (or not as loud). To take into account variations in speaker model loudness, these modifications can be employed.
