Regulatory instructions

Please read the user manual after having read these regulatory instructions.

Safety instructions

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE.

  • This appliance must not be used by children aged 0-8 years. This device can be used by children who are at least 8 years of age or older if they are under constant supervision. This appliance can be used by people with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or by people with a lack of experience and knowledge, provided that they are properly supervised or have received instructions on the safe use of the appliance and understand the risks involved. Cleaning and maintenance operations must not be performed by children.
  • WARNING! Keep the appliance, power cord and fondue forks out of the reach of children younger than 8 years of age. The fondue forks are sharp.
  • Close adult supervision is necessary when this appliance is used by or near children.
  • Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
  • Before connecting the appliance to the wall socket, ensure that the voltage indicated on the rating label of the appliance (220-240V ~ 50/60Hz) matches your local voltage.
  • Connect the appliance to its own individual mains socket. Do not share the socket with other high wattage appliances to avoid circuit overload, which could cause a fire hazard from overheated wires.
  • This appliance has been designed exclusively for household use. Only use the appliance to make cheese fondue, oil fondue or chocolate fondue. The appliance is not intended for commercial, industrial or outdoor use. Only use this appliance indoors.
  • Use the appliance only for its intended purpose. Any other use is to be considered inappropriate and therefore dangerous.
  • Always use the appliance in a well ventilated area.
  • The fondue pot and the base unit are designed to be used together and must not be used with any other pots or appliances (ovens, microwaves, hobs, electric plates, etc.) to avoid a hazard.
  • Place the appliance on a firm, level and heat-resistant surface. Do not place the appliance on flammable or fragile surfaces, such as a wooden, plastic or glass surfaces.
  • Do not place the appliance on wall corners, against a wall or other objects. Do not cover the appliance. Keep a minimum clearance on all sides of at least 15 cm and adequate clearance above it.
  • Do not use the appliance near flammable liquids or gases, or flammable materials (e.g. curtains, tablecloths, wallpapers, etc.).
  • The use of an extension cord with this appliance is not recommended. If it is necessary to use an extension cord, it should be equal to or greater than the power consumption of the appliance, and must be a grounding type 3-wire cord. Arrange the extension cord so that no one may step or trip over it, or accidentally pull on it.
  • CAUTION! Do not let the power cord (and extension cord if used) hang over the edge of the tabletop or countertop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over accidentally. Never place the power cord (and extension cord if used) under carpets, rugs, in doorways or high traffic areas.
  • Do not connect this appliance to an external timer or remote control system.
  • Do not allow the cord to touch hot surfaces, sharp edges or corners. Do not place the cord or appliance near hot gas or electric burners, or in a heated oven.
  • DANGER OF ELECTROCUTION! Do not use the appliance near water or heavy moisture (e.g. in a damp basement, next to a swimming pool, basin, bathtub, etc.).
  • DANGER OF ELECTROCUTION! Never touch the power plug or operate the appliance with wet hands or while standing on a wet floor.
  • Always turn the thermostat knob to the “0” (OFF) position before plugging or unplugging the appliance.
  • Always ensure that the fondue pot is not filled below the “MIN” or above the “MAX” mark indicated on the fondue pot. Do not overfill the fondue pot.
  • Never leave the appliance unattended while it is in use.
  • RISK OF BURNS! The appliance and heating plate become very hot during use and are subject to residual heat after use. Do not touch hot surfaces. Always use the handles or knobs. Use oven gloves or pot holders if necessary.
  • RISK OF BURNS! Oil or other liquids will remain hot for a considerable time after boiling and can present a scald hazard. Never move or carry the fondue pot when it contains hot oil or hot liquids to avoid accidents. Allow the fondue pot to cool down before moving. Cooking with hot oil is not recommended when children are present.
  • RISK OF BURNS! Never turn the appliance on without the fondue pot or when the fondue pot is empty. Do not remove the fondue pot when the appliance is on or still hot. Failure to follow this warning may result in fire hazards or serious burns from accidental contact with the heating plate.
  • Never add water or any other liquid to oil.
  • RISK OF FIRE! Overheated oil or fat can ignite very quickly. Never leave heating oil or fat unsupervised. Should the oil ignite, do not try to put it out by pouring water on it. Cover the fondue pot with a lid or plate immediately. Turn off and unplug the appliance, and leave the fondue pot on the base unit to cool down.
  • CAUTION! Do not eat with the fondue forks to avoid injury, as they are sharp and long-handled for spearing and dipping foods only. Always eat with a dinner fork.
  • Turn off and unplug the appliance after each use. Never leave the appliance connected to the wall socket when it is not in use.
  • DANGER OF ELECTROCUTION! Always unplug the appliance from the wall socket and allow it to cool down completely before cleaning.
  • WARNING! To protect against fire or electrical hazards, do not immerse the power cord, plug or base unit in water or any other liquids. Never rinse them under the tap or expose to dripping or splashing water.
  • Store the appliance in a cool, dry place.
  • Only use the appliance with the original accessories supplied. The use of accessory attachments not recommended or sold by the manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock or injury.
  • This appliance has no user-serviceable parts. Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the appliance yourself. In case of malfunction, repairs must be conducted by qualified personnel only.
  • Do not operate the appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Contact customer service for examination or repair.
  • Cooking appliances must be positioned on a stable surface with the handles (if any) positioned in such a way as to prevent hot liquids from overflowing.

  • WARNING: Risk of injury in the event of misuse.

Disposing of your old device
