Coontie Palm
Light
Thrives in full sun to partial shade.
Water & Humidity
Coontie palms are extremely drought tolerant, but it is important to keep a
normal water schedule for the first growing season to develop a healthy root
system. They prefer around 40-50% humidity .
Temperature
Ideal temperature is 60-80°F
Food
Enrich the soil with a small amount of organic material, such as compost, and
select a fertilizer with ammoniacal nitrogen rather than nitrate nitrogen to
enhance growth.
Toxicity
Toxic to humans and pets if ingested..
Growers Tips
Coontie palms don’t require prunning, but you can prune to control growth and
maintain shape. A common sign that plants are experiencing nutrient
deficiencies is the yellowing of leaves. This may be an overall yellowing or
leaves that are yellow but still have green veins. These leaves will
eventually brown off and die.
