Intended Use

The Heavy-Duty Joystick:

  • is a joystick module that can be connected directly to the wheelchair electronics to control the wheelchair functions
  • is a large format, extremely durable, proportional joystick for all-around heavy-duty use
  • can be used as a hand or foot-operated joystick
  • has been developed for users with excessive force (spasticity, dystonia…)

Features

The Heavy Duty Joystick is:

  • Fully proportional with increased throw and force (ca. 650 gr – 22.93 oz)
  • built in a compact housing, with two 3.5 mm jacks for switch input: (1) red = on/off power wheelchair – (2) yellow = mode of the power wheelchair.
  • is fully adjustable to individual possibilities and needs with well-thought-out electronics (mini USB connection).
  • is compatible with multiple types of wheelchair electronics.
  • LED light in the housing which will start to flash in case of error

Operation

The movements of the joystick are translated according to the movements of the wheelchair, e.g. driving or menu navigation.

A common practice to navigate the wheelchair with the joystick is as follows:

  • Direction: point the joystick in the direction you want the wheelchair to move. The wheelchair then moves in that direction.
  • Speed: the further you move the joystick from the default (center) position, the faster the wheelchair moves.
  • Stop: whenever you release the joystick, the joystick moves back to the default (center) position, and the wheelchair stops.
  • CAUTION: Avoid hitting obstacles during driving.
  • WARNING: When the LED light flashes and/or after every incident with the wheelchair or the mo-vis device, contact your dealer immediately to perform a functional test.
