Intended use

The Twister Pro:

  • is an Input Control System for a device to be operated by a push button with a 3.5 mm jack connection ( e.g. power wheelchair or AAC device).
  • has a medium activation force of 75 gr/2.65 oz required.
  • has two mounting holes, so that it can be positioned at an ideal place for the user.

CAUTION: To make sure that the device maintains its functionality, regular cleaning is required. See Cleaning on page 13.
CAUTION: This device is only intended to support auxiliary wheelchair functions.

Features

The Twister Pro:

  • is available in 3 colors: black, red, and green.
  • is available with a short (300 mm/11.81 in) and long (1500 mm/59.06 in) cable.
  • provides auditory and tactile feedback.
  • has a 3.5 mm mono jack connector.
  • requires an activation force of 75gr/2.65 oz and has an activation surface of 36 mm/1.42 in.
  • is IPx4 compatible (protected against splashing water).
  • can be mounted with 2 M3 screws. There are two screw holes in the base plate to attach the button firmly on a flat surface. The depth of the insert is 3 mm/0.12 in.
  • is tested for a maximum allowed force of 20 kg/200N.

Operation

Normally open switch
The Twister Pro can be used as a standard normally open switch: it will activate when pressed down. Simply plug the Twister Pro into a 3.5 mm female jack on a switch-adapted device, joystick, or computer.
To activate the Twister Pro, simply press anywhere on the top of the activation surface. You will feel and hear an audible ‘click’.

Safety button
The Twister Pro can also be configured using a dip switch on the bottom so that it functions as a safety button.
Only a qualified service engineer may install this device.
See the Installation manual for more information.

First-time use

CAUTION: A qualified service engineer should assist during the first-time use of the device and make sure that all functions are clear to the user, including what to do in case of problems or doubt.

Cleaning

Regular maintenance of the device is required. Before you do this, always disconnect the device.

  • Gently remove dust and dirt with a damp cloth.
  • Use only non-aggressive disinfectant cleaning agents.

CAUTION: Do not immerse in water or use excessive amounts of liquid.
CAUTION: Make sure the button stays clean so activation remains possible at all times.
CAUTION: If the button is damaged, it must be replaced immediately to ensure correct functionality.

Warnings and limitations

NOTE: This product complies with the limit values for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) with respect to power wheelchairs, as set out in the harmonized standards for the  EU in the Medical Device Regulation, No. 2017/745.
CAUTION: Do not attempt to open or disassemble the device enclosure.
CAUTION: This package may include small parts, which can be a choking hazard to children under 3 years. Keep small parts away from children.
CAUTION: Long periods of repetitive motion using the product may be associated with nerve, tendon, or muscle injury in your hands, wrists, arms, shoulders, neck, or back. See a qualified health professional for pain, numbness, weakness, swelling, burning, cramping, or stiffness.
