When sourcing a headunit, you will need to find one that comes with the
display, or you can purchase them separately.
Make sure the head unit has an amplifier built in otherwise you will have no
sound output. See below. Find a headunit that does NOT have the connector
circled in the first picture. This indicates that the headunit does not have
an amplifier built in, and thus, is not compatible.
I. Head Unit A. Supported Part Numbers (not comprehensive, may be more
compatible models) 1. 39101-TBA-A21 2. 39101-TBA-A31 3. 39101-TBA-A41
4. 39101-TBA-A51
5. 39101-TBC-A71 II. AM/FM Tuner (optional) – used for functionality with
AM/FM radio stations
A. Supported Part Numbers 1. 39800-TBA-A11 2. 39800-TBA-A21
Installation Instructions
1. Disconnect battery cables. 2. Remove center console side trim pieces by
prying up at the red circled points with 3. a non-marring pry tool. (Both left
and right trim pieces) *Left side shown
4. Pry up on the two circled tabs on the A/C control panel. A/C control panel should pop out and should allow you to disconnect the two connectors from the back of the panel.
5. Remove the two 10mm/Phillips Head screws circled in red.
6. Pry up carefully on the headunit at the two circled points. You should
hear a click or pop when you successfully pry up. At this point, you can pull
the head unit out of the dashboard using the two points circled at the top of
the head unit.
7. Remove all of the connectors out of the back of the OEM head unit. You should see these four and note them as they are labeled here.
8. Now we start plugging things in. Double-Sided tape the GPS Antenna to this black part of the dashboard. The location below is an example. Connect the GPS Antenna connector to the back of the new head unit as shown.
9. Plug connector A into this part of the harness as shown. 10. Now plug that same harness into the back of the new head unit as shown.
11. Take this end of the harness and plug it into the new head unit as shown.
12. Then take this end of the harness and plug it into the new head unit
display as shown.
13. Take connector B and plug it into the new head unit as shown.
14. *This step is only required for reverse camera functionality. What we are
essentially doing is installing a wire into connector C, and routing the other
end of that wire to the drivers side kick panel to pick up the reverse signal.
Take this end of the reverse wire included with your purchase and insert it
into the red circled opening on connector C.
Note: Be sure to line up the protrusion on the reverse wire pin with the
corresponding indent in connector C. The protrusion and the corresponding
indent are shown below with red arrows.
Note: Pin is fragile and can be damaged with improper installation. It is best
to push the pin in firmly with a small flathead screwdriver or other fine
tool. Double check the pin seated fully.
Now insert this connector C with the reverse wire installed into the back of
the new head unit.
Now we need to route the other end of the wire to the driver’s side kick
panel. There are several different ways to route the wire, however, this
method works well. Take the wire and route it through the area pictured. You
should be able to pull it out from the other side as shown, and then route it
across the drivers side footwell moving left towards the kick panel. (Ignore
the fact that the wire color has changed to white)
Remove the foot skid plate by pulling up on it with your hands.
Remove the kick panel by pulling on it with your hands. You should see a loom
of wires under some plastic sheathing.
Under the plastic sheathing, you should be able to identify two mint green
wires. One of these two wires is the correct one for our reverse signal. The
plan is to try one wire to see if the reverse signal works, if not, then we
can use the second wire.
Use the included red T-Tap connector to tap into one of the mint green wires.
Position the wire into the T-Tap as shown, and clamp the T-Tap together.
Once you have done this, you can connect the reverse wire spade connector to
the T-Tap Connector.
Now you can tuck/hide the wire however you like. Easiest to hide it above the
plastic panel pictured below.
Reinstall drivers side kick panel and foot skid plate. Reverse wire installation is complete. If after powering the unit up and selecting reverse the camera does not show up, Remove the T-Tap connector and try the second mint green wire.
15. Connect the green connector from the harness into the AM/FM Tuner as shown 16. Connect this end of included wire into AM/FM Tuner as shown.
17. Now take the other end and connect it to connector D as shown. 18. Identify the included AM/FM antenna wire
19. Take one end of the included antenna wire and plug it into the AM/FM
Tuner as shown.
20. Take the other end and plug it into the new head unit as shown.
21. Now you can double sided tape the AM/FM Tuner in a location behind where
the new head unit is going to be placed. The area circled in red is an
example. It might be easier to remove the two metal brackets from the AM/FM
Tuner if they are included with yours.
22. Carefully tuck all of the wires into the area behind where the new head
unit is going to sit. Make sure you are not pinching, tugging, or putting any
excess stress on the wires where you place them. Pinching wires may cause a
short!
23. Install the new head unit into its place in the dashboard. Line up the
headunit in position and push in with your hands at both red circled points.
The Head Unit should click into place.
24. Reinstall the two phillips head screws pictured below. 25. Plug AC Control Panel connectors back in as shown below. 26. Reinstall the AC Control Panel by clicking it into place.
27. Reinstall center console side trim pieces. Note: it may be easier to
remove the center console armrests first and then reinstall the trim pieces as
shown below.
28. Reconnect battery cables. At this point you can power the vehicle on and
check the functionality of the new head unit. You will probably be met with an
anti-theft code screen so be sure you have the code otherwise the head unit
will not function.
