ASSEMBLY
Plastic parts are already fitted to your carabiners. Before you hang the Motor
Connect, the carabiners must be fitted.
The carabiners must be attached from the side, otherwise they cannot be turned
properly into place. Both carabiners must be installed with the narrow end
pointing towards the motor. See illustration 4.
It is important that you lock your carabiners during installation. This is
done by tightening the safety lock. Avoid over tightening the safety lock.
MOUNTING
Please note
If the Motor Connect is suspended from the ceiling, it is important to use a stainless steel hook without coating.
-
Start by assembling and installing your Moonboon mounting system.
If you hang your Motor Connect from a ceiling hook, it is important you read the section on WEIGHT first. -
Attach the two carabiners to your motor in accordance with the ASSEMBLY instructions.
Hang the motor with the top carabiner and plug in the power supply to the small hole at the top of the motor. The motor requires a constant power supply to operate.
Make sure that the cable does not trail down next to the motor, but is routed away from the setup. Otherwise, the cable can create unwanted oscillations in the motor. -
Your Moonboon product comes with an included spring. Attach the spring to the carabiner at the bottom of the motor, and then mount the baby hammock or cradle onto the spring. Be sure to securely lock the safety carabiners once your product is properly mounted.
-
Next, the motorwire with the small s-hook must be mounted onto the baby hammock or cradle. The motor wire is the connection that ensures continuous movement between the Motor Connect and your chosen product.
The motorwire is located at the bottom of the Motor Connect and must be pulled out manually. The last part of the wire consists of a short nylon cord with a s-hook. Mount the motor wire by leading the nylon cord and s-hook down and around the top of the baby hammock or cradle. It is important that the nylon cord is firmly attached before you release it.
For the baby hammock and the twin baby hammock, the nylon cord is fitted around the folded fabric, approximately 7 cm (3 inches) from the metal ring. Fasten the s-hook around the nylon cord to tighten it.

- Make sure that the nylon motor wire is not in contact with the spring cover during movement, as this can create unwanted oscillations and wear on the wire and the spring cover.
When the motor and the motorwire are installed correctly, you can switch on the power.
Read the sections on HEIGHT and WEIGHT before using the motor.
HEIGHT
It is essential that baby hammock or cradle does not touch the floor during operation. Before using your product, perform these two tests to ensure that it does not touch the floor.
Please note
When using the Motor Connect with a baby hammock and a door frame clamp from Moonboon, ensure that there is a minimum of 220 cm (7 feet and 3 inches) of space between the door frame and the floor.
FIRST TEST: WITHOUT CHILD
Assemble the baby hammock or cradle as described in their respective user
manuals and pull on the spring to stretch it as far as possible. This is done
by pulling the spring until you feel the safety strap (the nylon strap inside
the spring) stopping the spring from extending any longer.
When the spring is fully extended, there must be ample clearance between the
bottom of the baby hammock or cradle and the floor.
If the baby hammock or cradle touches the floor, then check the setup again,
or find a different location to install your setup.
SECOND TEST: WITH CHILD
Place the child in the baby hammock or cradle and perform the same test as
before: Stretch the spring until you feel the safety strap stop the spring.
There must be ample clearance between the bottom of the baby hammock or cradle
and the floor.
Please note
Perform the tests regularly as your child grows and becomes heavier.
This way you ensures that the baby hammock or cradle never touches the floor.
WEIGHT
The motor works by keeping the spring system in constant motion. Your child’s weight and the spring used are the two main factors of the motor’s performance.
Please note
Insufficient weight in the baby hammock or cradle will cause the Motor Connect to malfunction and turn off.
Please note
For safety considerations, we advise against using a baby hammock, cradle, or
any other product from a different brand than Moonboon with the Motor Connect.
If you choose to do so, it’s crucial to be familiar with the safety guidelines
of both the product and its accompanying spring.
When used with products from a different supplier, the Motor Connect may only
be suitable for use with a higher total weight due to variations in springs,
including differences in quality and dimensions.
BABY HAMMOCK OR CRADLE
The supplied spring supplied with your baby hammock or cradle can be used when
the baby weighs between 3 kg and 12 kg.
Depending on the baby’s weight, there will be a difference in how long a strap
you can use over the motor if you have your Motor Connect hanging from a hook
in the ceiling. Always follow the accompanying recommendations and safety
requirements to ensure that the baby hammock or cradle is securely fastened
and that the Motor Connect rocks as intended.
If the child weighs less than 8 kg, there must be a maximum of 15 cm of strap from the motor up to the ceiling mount.
If the child weighs more than 8 kg, there must be a maximum of 50 cm of strap from the motor up to the ceiling mount.
TWIN BABY HAMMOCK
The supplied spring can be used when the combined weight of the children is
between 4 kg and 12 kg.
Depending on the baby’s weight, there will be a difference in how long a strap
you can use over the motor if you have your motor hanging from a ceiling
mount. Always follow the accompanying recommendations and safety requirements
to ensure that the twin baby hammock is securely fastened and that the Motor
Connect rocks as intended.
If the combined weight of the children is less than 8 kg, there must be a maximum of 15 cm of strap from the motor to the ceiling mount.
If the combined weight of the children is more than 8 kg, there must be a maximum of 50 cm of strap from the motor up to the ceiling mount.
Please note
The rocking from the motor and spring will be perceived differently depending
on your child’s weight. With a lower weight load, the rocking will feel faster
than with a larger weight load.
As your child grows, you might notice the rocking speed decrease. If you
prefer a shorter and quicker rocking motion, you can purchase a Spring+, which
will restore the movements to what you are accustomed to.
USING THE MOTOR
Once you have installed the Motor Connect and connected the power supply, you
can begin operation. Go through the SAFETY CHECKLIST and ensure that all
points are met before switching on the motor for the first time.
Motor Connect can be controlled manually by turning on the knobs of the motor
or controlled using the Moonboon App. See MOONBOON APP.
TIMER
The small dots indicate how long the motor will operate. The timer can be set
for anything between 5 minutes and 2 hours, or set to run indefinitely. To set
the timer for a duration of 1.5 hours, position the timer knob precisely
between the 1-hour and 2-hour marks. See the illustration for time settings.
Motor Connect is equipped with a safety function that will automatically stop
the motor after running for 12 consecutive hours.
TEMPO
The rocking speed is lowest when the pointer is turned to the left and highest when it is pointing to the right.
Please note
You can switch off the motor at any time by turning the knobs all the way to the left.
Please note
Please note that the motor will not work with too little weight in the baby hammock or cradle. When used with the baby hammock or the cradle, the child must weigh at least 3 kg. When used with the twin baby hammock, the children must have a combined total weight of at least 4 kg.
STARTING THE MOTOR MANUALLY
- First turn the ‘TIMER’ button and set the desired time.
- Then turn the ‘TEMPO’ button and set the desired rocking speed.
When both knobs are set to your desired settings and the LED lights up green, put one hand on the crossbar and start the baby hammock by gently pressing down once or twice. The cradle is started by carefully pulling down on the spring once or twice.
The motor will now take over and will begin to rock. You can use the knobs to
increase or decrease the pace throughout the baby’s nap.
When the time is up, the motor will slow down and then stop completely.
STARTING THE MOTOR WITH THE MOONBOON APP
If the motor is in standby-mode, simply choose a Sleep Program or choose your
own settings and press ‘START’ in the app.
If the motor is turned off, turn it on by turning the ‘TIMER’ and ‘TEMPO’
buttons to the left until you hear a ‘click’ sound. You might need to
reconnect the bluetooth, which is done by clicking the bluetooth button once.
When the LED lights up green, the motor is ready to be controlled via the Moon
boon app. You can either set the time and tempo yourself or choose one of Moon
boon’s preset Sleep Programs.
With the app, you can adjust both the duration and pace of your baby’s nap
continuously, ensuring the motor rocks at precisely the speed that best suits
your baby’s preferences.
When the time is up, the motor will slow down and then stop completely.
Please note
After a normal use, the motor will turn the light off after use and go into standby mode. You can wake it up again using the Moonboon App.
MOONBOON APP
Enjoy the possibilities of intelligent touch-free start and app-control of our
Motor Connect through the Moonboon App, allowing you to control your baby’s
sleep through a few simple taps on your smartphone.
With the app, you can quickly and easily adjust the speed and timer settings,
or select a custom sleep program that automatically modifies the motor
settings throughout your baby’s nap.
DOWNLOAD
The app can be downloaded on both Apple and Android-based phones.
Download the app by searching for ‘Moonboon’ in the Apple App Store or Google
Play Store.
TROUBLESHOOTING
MY MOTOR DOES NOT HAVE A BLUETOOTH BUTTON
If your motor does not have a bluetooth button located between the timer and
tempo knobs, you might have a Motor Original instead of Motor Connect.
Please refer to the Motor Original user manual instead.
THE LED DOES NOT LIGHT UP
Check that the power supply is firmly attached to the top of the motor and
that the power is switched on. Turn off the power and wait 30 seconds before
turning it back on.
If the LED light still does not light up, the motor may need servicing. Please
contact customer service.
THE LED FLASHES RED AND GREEN
The Motor Connect indicates that you are not using a correct power supply. Read more in the SAFETY CHECKLIST.
THE LED LIGHTS UP RED
The motor has gone into fail-safe mode and has stopped by itself as it has
detected an error. Reset the motor by turning both knobs to the off position
and then restart the operation.
If you repeatedly experience that the LED lights up red, this may indicate:
- There is not enough weight in the baby hammock or cradle. Read the section on WEIGHT.
- If your Motor Connect hangs from the ceiling, you might have it hanging in too long a strap. Read the section on WEIGHT.
- The motor is starting at too low a speed. Try starting the motor at a higher speed and then reduce to the desired speed.
CLEANING
Clean the motor with a damp towel. Do not use soap or other chemicals on the motor and keep it away from water and dirt.
DISPOSAL
When you see the crossed-out wheel bin symbol attached to a product, it means the product is covered by the European Directive 2002/96/EC:
Never dispose of the product with other household waste. Make sure you know the local regulations on separate collection of electrical and electronic products. Correct disposal of end-of-life products helps prevent negative impacts on the environment and human health.
