Oben AC-1300 Series Section Aluminum Tripod
Thank You for choosing Oben!
The Oben AC-1300/1400 Series are versatile and durable tripods that are
designed for quick and precise camera placement as well as security for your
camera. AC-1300/1400 Series tripods feature flip locks for fast and easy
height adjustment for each telescopic leg. For stable support when shooting on
uneven terrain, each leg can be positioned independently at three locking
angles (24˚, 55˚, or 80˚), and a built-in bubble level helps keep the tripod
aligned with the horizon. The center column locking knob releases the center
column with a simple twist allowing for effortless height adjustment. The
center column is grooved to prevent it from rotating accidentally and has a
spring-loaded weight hook for added stability in windy conditions. The center
column is also reversible to facilitate low-angle shooting. The tripod is
equipped with a dual-sized mounting screw for compatibility with a wide range
of heads, cameras, and accessories. Additional security for cameras is
provided by the three set screws on the mounting plate. Other noteworthy
features include closed-cell foam leg warmers on two of the legs, which
provide ease of operation in extreme weather, and a strap mount for attaching
a carry strap. Please read this entire manual before using the AC-1300/1400
Series tripod.

Leg Length Adjustment
To adjust the height of each leg independently, do the following:
- Open the flip-lock lever
- Adjust the leg to the desired height.
- Close the flip-lock to lock the leg in place.
Leg Angle Adjustment
For stable support when shooting on uneven terrain, each leg can be set at a preset angle of 24°, 55°, or 80°. To set the leg angle do the following:
- Pull the adjustment lock outward.
- Set the angle of the leg.
- Push the lock-in to lock the leg at that angle.
Center Column Adjustment
The sliding centre column can be used to adjust the height of the camera. Fully extending the centre column after the legs have been fully extended will place the camera at the highest position possible with this tripod.
- Turn the centre locking knob counterclockwise.
- Adjust the centre column to the desired height.
- Lock the column in place by turning the locking knob clockwise.
Note: Make sure the column is secure but do not overtighten to avoid damaging the tripod.
Low-Angle Setup
There are two ways to adjust the tripod for low-angle shots.
REVERSE THE CENTER COLUMN
Reversing the centre column allows for mounting the camera upside down in order to get close to the ground or surface. To reverse the center column do the following:
OPERATION
- With the column lowered, remove the built-in weight hook from the bottom of the column by turning it counterclockwise and pulling it out of the column.
- Turn the centre column locking knob counterclockwise to unlock the center column. Remove the center column from the tripod.
- Reverse the centre column, line up its groove with the interior nodule, and insert it up through the bottom of the tripod top plate.
- Slide the centre column into the desired position. Turn the centre column locking knob clockwise to lock it at the desired height.
SPLIT THE CENTER COLUMN
Splitting the centre column shortens the column length and allows for setting the tripod legs at their widest angle. This facilitates low-angle shots from the top of the tripod. To split the center column, follow these steps:
- Remove the weight hook from the bottom of the column by turning it counterclockwise and pulling it out of the column.
- Turn the centre column locking knob counterclockwise to unlock the centre column. Remove the centre column from the tripod.
- Using the smallest included Allen wrench, loosen the Allen screw located near the top of the centre column. When the Allen screw is loosened, unscrew the top part of the center column and remove it from the column.
- Put the main column aside. Tighten the Allen screw with the Allen wrench so that the screw is flush with the surface of the centre column. Insert the short column into the tripod. Tighten the center column locking knob securely.
Note: Extending the centre column may leave the tripod less stable.
Counterweight
When shooting in windy condition or when using a telephoto lens, the stability of your camera is critical. A built-in spring-loaded hook at the bottom of the center column allows you to hang a counterweight, such as a sandbag (not included) or loaded equipment bag (not included), to provide increased stability.
Mounting a head
The tripod includes a mounting screw with a 1/4″ screw on one end and a 3/8″ screw on the other, allowing you to mount either size tripod head. To switch between the two sizes do the following:
- Loosen the set screw that is next to the mounting screw with the included Allen wrench.
- Remove the plate from the tripod by turning it counterclockwise.
- Remove the screw, and insert the opposite end back into the plate.
- Replace the plate back onto the tripod by turning it clockwise.
- Tighten the set screw with the Allen key.
To mount a head onto the tripod do the following:
- Align the bottom of the head’s tripod mount with the tripod’s mounting screw.
- Turn the head clockwise and screw it onto the mounting screw until fully secured. Do not over-tighten, since doing so may cause damage.
- Tighten the three set screws which clamp against the base of the tripod head with the appropriate Allen key to ensure effective and secure locking of the head to the tripod.
