THIS FIRE EXTINGUISHER IS UNDER PRESSURE. NON-COMPLIANCE WITH THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAN BE DANGEROUS.

The purpose of these instructions is to guarantee safe and effective use.

Safety instructions

  • Under no circumstances should parts of the fire extinguisher be tampered with or should an effort be made to remove parts?
  • Under no circumstances should someone try to loosen or remove a valve from a pressurized cylinder. Furthermore, under no circumstance should someone remove a valve from an empty cylinder, unless this person has been specially authorized to do so and has the necessary knowledge and equipment to prevent damage to the valve, the cylinder, properties, or persons.
  • A fire extinguisher is only supplied for the use for which it is designed and under no circumstances should it be used for other purposes. Do not misuse the fire extinguisher by playing with it and do not spray it for purposes other than extinguishing fires.
  • Do not change anything on the fire extinguisher and do not convert it in any way! This can be dangerous and result in damage to the user or third parties. Changes invalidate the original design and frustrate the approvals given by the agencies concerned. The pressure resistance of the cylinder can be seriously disrupted by unapproved changes.
  • Do not try to saw, drill or weld in or on the cylinder.
  • Do not put the fire extinguisher in hot or boiling water or close to heat sources, such as radiators, electric heaters, open fires or other applications that generate heat.
  • The information given on the fire extinguisher, including the stamped numbers and labels, is important for the maintenance and refilling of the cylinder and may not be removed or changed.
  • Do not throw the cylinder and do not drop it from a height, as this can cause damage to the fire extinguisher.
  • Do not throw the cylinder into the fire, as this can cause serious crack formation.
  • Do not try to flatten the fire extinguisher, press it together or drive over it. Do not use the device as a hammer, door hanger, buttress, wedge, bracket or any application other than for which the device is designed.
  • Do not use the fire extinguisher to refill paint guns or other air-operated weapons.
  • Do not use the valves and cylinders for driving machines.
  • The content of a CO2 fire extinguisher may not be used for rapidly cooling or freezing food or other products. Furthermore, it must not be used for injecting carbon dioxide into beverages.
  • When using the fire extinguisher, never spray into the face of humans or animals.
  • When a fire extinguisher has been fully or partly emptied, do not hang it back on the wall bracket, but have the fire extinguisher refilled by a qualified service company (NEN2559).

FIRE EXTINGUISHERS INSTALLATION AND MOUNTING

Placement

  • A fire extinguisher should be hung on the accompanying suspension bracket at a level best suited to the user.
  • Portable fire extinguishers can weigh up to 20 kg.
  • That is why it is absolutely necessary if a fire extinguisher is mounted on the wall that it is mounted properly and firmly anchored with the right brackets and the right mounting material.
  • Fire extinguishers must be hung and installed in accordance with the directives. Fire extinguishers must be hung in conspicuous places where they can be seen easily by persons using an escape route, such as exits, corridors, stairwells, halls and landings. Fire extinguishers should not be hung in places where a fire could block the access to the extinguishers or in small corridors where they could be knocked down or wrenched off the wall.

Determination of location

Some points for special attention:

  • Avoid direct contact between the fire extinguisher and sunlight and/or a heat source as much as possible so that the temperature indicated on the device is not exceeded.
  • The extinguisher must be easily accessible.
  • The instructions and the pressure meter on the extinguisher must be easy to read.
  • The mounting height must be between 1 and 1.5 meters above the floor.

Maintenance

  • Keep the fire extinguisher clean. Do so with a damp cloth. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents.
  • Check the pressure on the meter 4x a year. The pointer must be in the green zone.
  • Check the locking pin 4x a year. It must be placed.
  • Major repairs on the fire extinguisher should be carried out at least once every two years by an EXPERT. The service mechanic will sign off the extinguisher with a new inspection sticker listing the date of inspection.
