Fill ink tanks
Warning: Keep the ink bottles out of the reach of children and do not drink the ink.
Caution: This product requires careful handling of ink. If ink spills, wipe it off immediately with a damp towel to avoid permanent stains. If ink gets on your clothes or belongings, it may not come off.
Note:
- Epson cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of third-party ink.
- Use the ink bottles included with the printer to set up the product. Part of the ink will be used to charge the print head. These bottles may print fewer pages compared with replacement ink bottles.
- Epson strongly recommends the use of genuine ink to ensure optimal print quality and performance.
-
Open the ink tank cover, then open the cap for the black (BK) ink tank.
Note: Refer to the color-coded sticker on the ink tank unit to identify the color of each tank. -
Unpack the black (BK) ink bottle. Hold the ink bottle upright and slowly turn the bottle cap to remove it.
Caution: Do not shake or squeeze the ink bottle. Do not touch the top of the ink bottle after its cap is removed.
-
Insert the ink bottle into the filling port.
Note: Do not force the bottle into position; each bottle is keyed for each color. -
Wait for the ink to fill the tank. Do not squeeze the bottle or allow it to contact any other surface.
Note: Ink flows into the tank and stops automatically when the ink tank is filled to the upper line. If ink does not flow from the bottle, lift and reinsert the bottle. -
When the ink tank is full, remove the ink bottle and securely close it with the bottle cap. If any ink remains in the bottle, store the bottle upright for later use.
Note: Do not leave the ink bottle inserted; otherwise the bottle may be damaged or ink may leak. -
Securely close the black ink tank cap.
-
Repeat the previous steps for the other colors.
-
Close the ink tank cover.
-
Press the power button to turn on the product, then wait for the power and the ink lights to stay on. The Wi-Fi lights flash alternately.
-
Press and hold the stop button for 5 seconds until the power light starts to flash and ink charging begins. Ink charging takes about 11 minutes.
Note: When the power light stops flashing, ink charging is complete. Once initial setup of the printer is complete, you can top off the ink tanks with any remaining ink. See the online User’s Guide for instructions.
Caution: Do not unplug or turn off the product, or open the front cover
while the product is charging or you’ll waste ink.
Note: After some ink is used for charging, the rest is available for
printing.
Caution: After setup, periodically inspect the ink levels to ensure they do not fall below the lowest lines on the tanks. Prolonged use when any level is below the lowest line could damage the product. See the online User’s Guide for refilling instructions.

FAQS
can it print A3 paper?
A4 yes, A3 don’t think so. It will do 11×17 though.
Does this printer allow you to put pages on platen glass va using the document feeder in case you need to copy licenses??
Yes, the document feeder lifts up and gives access to the glass for items to be copied or scanned.
Does this product work with Windows 11? Only answer if you know for sure please
Works with all Microsoft OS
Does it display caller ID?
It does not appear to be a function of the WF-3820.
what are the dimensions height, width and depth?
W 13″, L 17″, H10″
What is the minimum paper size and can it be set up without the Cd. My laptop has no cd drive
The minimum paper size is 3.5×5. Windows 10 complained
Does it come with the toner
Yes, it comes with ink which is not refillable. Works very well large project you have to have ink which is costly
Can the Alexa feature be turned off?
Yes, but this printer eats printer cartridges like there’s no tomorrow. Not a good printer
Does it require a subscription of some sort to continue printing, you know like the one HP has?
No. Maybe that’s more with corporate printers. The only thing you’ll need to buy additionally is ink. If you do lots of printing, I think you can pay an affordable monthly fee to Amazon and they’ll ship you ink when you’re in need.
Can you put sublimation ink in this printer?
No. It is best to use real Epson ink as the chip on the cartridges allows for
firmware updates (Epson’s way of keeping you from using off-brand ink). I find
using real Epson ink makes my printer last years. This printer’
s ink cartridges are quite large and did not cost any more than my old Epson
printer with smaller ink cartridges. Two secrets to make printer last longer:
- use Ink Jet specific paper. Multi-use paper is too rough (tooth, in paper terms) and wears out/clogs the screens the ink passes through; 2) print something with color once a week to keep the ink from drying out
Would this printer work with an asus vivobook flip 14?
Not sure, but it works with my samsung tab A tablet, my samsung S7 cell phone (both require a download of Epson Smart Panel app) and my windows 10 laptop. So if your Asus is android 8 or greater or windows 10, it would probably work.
Can you print from a usb drive? Can you scan to a usb drive?
Yes, to scanning to a USB drive. I assume you can print from one, but have not done it yet.
What size paper will it accept?
From what’ve seen as options in the settings, pretty much all American, European and metric sizes
Does it have 2 sided scanning and printing?
The features only say 2 sided print. Are you POSITIVE it has 2 sided scan? You tried it?
Will this printer connect with my phone through Bluetooth for printing capabilities?
Yes. Recommended connection for the WF-3820 is Bluetooth.
