MECHANICAL MOVEMENT

A mechanical watch is a watch that uses a mechanism to measure the passage of time. Driven by a mainspring, they can be manually wound with the crown or automatically wound by an oscillating rotor through the wrist’s movement. Its force is transmitted through a series of gears to power the balance wheel, a weighted wheel which oscillates back and forth at a constant rate. A device

called an escapement releases the watch’s wheels to move forward a small amount with each swing of the balance wheel, moving the watch’s hands forward at a constant rate.
With most of our models, the beauty of how the watch movement works can be admired through the transparent case back.

MAGNETIC FIELDS

So as not to affect the running of your watch, avoid placing it near magnetic fields created by objects such as magnets, mobile phones, speakers, etc.

SHOCKS

Avoid all types of shocks, whether physical, thermal or other.

TEMPERATURE

Avoid exposing your watch to extreme tempera- tures (over 60°C or 140°F and under 0°C or 32°F) or to sudden fluctuations in temperature.

SALT-WATER

Always rinse your watch with clear and fresh water afterwards.

CHEMICAL PRODUCTS

Avoid all direct contact with all chemical

ANTI-REFLECTIVE TREATMENT
The anti-reflective treatment of the sapphire crystal glass improves the visibility of the dial of the watch. Everyday wear can cause marks to appear (scratches, chips, etc.). These are considered normal and are not covered by the warranty.

CLEANING

Use a toothbrush and soapy water to clean metal  bracelets,  rubber  straps and  water- resistant cases and a soft cloth to dry them off afterwards.

LEATHER STRAPS

Protect leather straps from grease, water and humidity and avoid excessive exposure to sunlight.

WHAT ARE THE SERVICE INTERVALS?

Like  all  micro-mechanical  precision  instru- ments, your watch should be serviced regu- larly to ensure that it runs perfectly. As a rule, a watch should be serviced every 4-5 years,

WATER-RESISTANCE

The water-resistance cannot be guaranteed permanently. Everyday wear, ageing of seals or accidental shocks adversely affect the water-resistance of the watch. We recommend that you have the water-resistance of your
watch checked regularly by an official Maurice Lacroix service centre. All Maurice  Lacroix  watches  are  water- resistant to at least 3 ATM.products, solvents, detergents, perfumes, cos- metics, etc. which may damage the leather strap, the bracelet or the case.
depending on the conditions in which it is worn.

* The values given in feet or metres of immersion in water are equivalent to the measurement of pressure applied in tests according to the ISO 22810 standard.

KEY WORDS

Screw-in crown:
Some watches — usually those water-resistant to more than 5 ATM — can have a screw-in crown. Before being able to make any adjust- ments (change the date, set the time, etc.) the crown has to be unscrewed. To do so, please proceed as follows:

Power reserve indicator:

Some automatic watches have a power reserve indicator. If the watch is worn rarely or not at all the power reserve indicator will gradually de- crease. When the watch is wound or worn the power reserve indicator will gradually increase.

Tachymeter or tachymiler scale:

Some dials feature a tachymeter scale: it measures speed (in km per hour) for a covered distance of 1 km or 1 mile.
Example: 1000 meters covered in 45 seconds corresponds to a speed of 80km per hour

Carat:

The weight of a diamond is measured in carats, one carat being equal to 0.20gram.
