Introduction to Your Audi QS

1. MMI Touch Display
   Touchscreen allows access to multiple features and functions, including : Radio, Media, Phone, available Navigation, Phone Apps, * Vehicle, Settings and more.

2. Automatic Climate Control
   Set preferences for temperature, airflow distribution and recirculation. Use in AUTO or manual mode.

3. Audi Phone Box** (not shown)
   Located in t he center console armrest, this allows you to charge your compatible mobile device wirelessly. To use, position the device with the display facing up. Phone must be in direct contact with the phone box surface. Calls will be made using t he external antenna on the vehicle. Mobile devices may also be connected to the Audi Multi Media Interface using a USB adapter cable and can be started and operated using the MMI touch display.
   Available on models with phone box. See Owner’s Manual for proper placement.

4. Volume Knob
   Controls audio volume. Press to mute. Press and hold to turn audio on or off. Move left or right to advance tracks.

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems

*Park Assist (Parking Entry Functionality) P@**

Park assist automatically steers the car into parallel or perpendicular parking spaces using ultrasonic sensors, while the driver works the gear shift, accelerates, brakes and monitors the vehicle’s surroundings.

1. To turn on, press the button located in t he center console.
2. As soon as the system has found a suitable parking space (indicated with a “P” in t he MMI) and the driver has moved t he vehicle into position, t he driver must stop the vehicle and make sure the actual direction the vehicle is traveling matches t he direct ion indicated by t he park assist.
3. The driver must remove hands from t he steering wheel and follow the visual instructions in t he center display and the audible warning tones until the parking process has ended.

*Park Assist utilizes automatic steering. However, entering and exiting parking spots, as well as preventing collisions are always the responsibility of the driver. See Owner’s Manual for further details, and important limitations.

See Driver Assistance in your Owner’s Manual for more detailed information and for important safety warnings.
Driver Assistance Systems are not substitutes for attentive driving. You can always intervene. These systems are designed for highways and major roads.
Some conditions may deactivate them, such as no lane lines, lane too narrow or wide, etc.

Navigation

Setting a Destination
The optional MMI Navigation* system has extraordinary capabilities to enhance your d rive with user-definable views, rout ing select ions and more. Get started with setting destinations and discover more as you become familiar with the interface.

*MM/ Navigation plus (available on select trim lines) depends on signals from the Worldwide Global Positioning Satellite Network. The vehicle’s electrical system, and existing wireless and satellite technologies, must be available and operating properly for the system to function. The system is designed to provide you with suggested routes in locating addresses, destinations and other points of interest. Changes in street names, construction zones, traffic flow, points of interest and other road system changes are beyond the control of Audi of America, Inc. Complete detailed mapping of lanes, roads, streets, toll roads, highways, etc., is not always possible, therefore you may encounter discrepancies between the mapping and the actual route to your destination. Please rely on your individual judgment in determining whether or not to follow o suggested MM/ Navigation plus route.

Finding a Destination Us ing an On li ne Search Engine Provider

1. Select Navigation >> ? >> G.
2. Enter search terms into input field until the desired destination appears. To narrow search further, press on the displayed suggestedtrms.
3. Press the desired destination, then press Start.
   Audi connect subscription required for internet-based searches.

Intelligent Search with Voice Recognition

1. Short press the Voice Recognition button <<•{: on t he steering wheel or on the Intelligent search screen of the MMI touch display to activate voice recognition. Speak commands after t he beep.
2. Say an address, Point of interest or generic category of a location you wish to find .
3. Choose the destination from the displayed list .
   See Voice Recognition section for further information.

Saving Favorites

Destined ions can be saved as Favorites or shortcuts in order to quickly access t hem for future trips.

1. Press and hold displayed destination until the Option menu appears.
2. Choose Store as Favorite.
3. A solid white star * indicates it is stored as a Favorite .

Auxiliary Climate Control
The auxiliary climate control system warms or cools the vehicle interior using only electric power. The vehicle will turn on the auxiliary climate control system if needed, depending on the last temperature that was set with the climate control system controls. This function can be used when the drive system is switched off.
You can turn the auxiliary climate control system on and off immediately in the Infotainment system or set a timer.
• Select on the home screen: VEHICLE >> Air conditioning >> Auxiliary air conditioning >> 0 .
Requirement: the high-voltage battery must have a sufficient charge level and there must be enough fuel in the tank.

3-Zone Autor11atic Clir11ate Control

System Controls

The 3-zone climate control system allows separate temperatures to be set for each of the three vehicle areas: driver’s side, front passenger side and rear passenger compartment. Pressing any button on the climate control system or turning the temperature dial will activate the system.

1. AUTO
   Displays set temperature. Press to activate AUTO for each zone. Press again to deactivate AUTO. Changing the air distribution or fan speed will also turn off the AUTO function.

2. 3-ZONE/ SYNC
   Toggles through three system set tings: 3-ZONE, SYNC and Set Rea r. With SYNC activated, the set tings for the driver’s side are applied to all other areas except for seat heating/ventilation. If set tings for the front or rear passenger are changed, SYNC is disabled. Set Rear allows the rear seat settings to be controlled from the front panel.

3. Air Distribution
   Press up or down repeatedly until the desired distribution setting is displayed.

4. Blower
   Press up or down repeatedly until t he desired fan speed is achieved .

5. A/ C
   Toggles through ON, OFF, A/C MAX. Indicates when air conditioning system is on. The A/C system only works when the fan is on. When A/C is off, t he air is neither cooled nor dehumidified, and windows may fog as a result. AUTO mode turns on the A/C. Activating A/C MAX will cool and dehumidify t he vehicle interior as quickly as possible. Temperature will be set to LO and fan speed will increase.

6. Seat Heating
   Press repeatedly to adjust heat level.

7. Seat Ventilation (optional)
   Press repeatedly to adjust seat ventilation airflow.

8. MAX Defrost
   Clears the windshield of fog or frost as quickly as possible . Most of the air will be directed to the windshield vent s, and temperature is regulated automatically. Once the windshield is clear, readjust the settings. Sufficient engine heat is necessary for effective defrosting.

9. Recirculation
   Press the button to recirculate air in the cabin and prevent outside air from entering .

10. Rear Window Defogger
    Activates electric heater embedded in rear g lass. The heater will t urn off automatically after about 10-20 minutes,
    depending on t he outside temperature.

11. OFF
    Deactivates the climate control system .
    • Rear heat ing and cooling can be turned off f rom the front control panel by selecting Set Rea r with the 3-ZONE/SYNC button, t hen selecting OFF.

Residual Heat
When the ignition switch is turned off, pressing t he driver’s temperature select ion knob (1) will allow the residual engine heat to warm the interior. This function turns off after about 1 5 minutes.

Bluetooth®, Voice Recognition & Media

Bluetooth® Technology

Initia l Setup
Once a compatible phone is paired, it will reconnect each time you start the vehicle*. Your contact list will automatically synchronize**, allowing you to access contacts and make and receive calls through t he Infotainment system. Bluetooth is not
available when Apple CarPlay” is active.
To pair a compatible phone:

1. Turn ignition on with vehicle in Park.
2. Activate your phone’s Bluetooth.
3. Open t he Bluetooth menu on your phone, ensure “Audi MMI XXXX” (last four digits of VIN) appears as an opt ion.
4. Select Phone on the touch display to view available Bluetooth devices.
5. Select Connect mobile device.
6. Select your device from t he device list. Press the Refresh icon O if the device is not displaying .
7. Select Pair on your device once the PIN on your phone matches the one generated by t he MMI. This confirmation step pairs your phone.
8. Select Allow on your device to sync contacts.

Open t he Bluetooth submenu CD on your device and enable Show Notifications, Sync Contacts and Apple CarPlay for iOS devices.
Some devices may require a selection to allow access to the address book.

*Some phones may require a response to automatically connect upon re-entering the vehicle. Once paired, the Bluetooth symbol appears on the display status bar along with network strength bars and will be displayed whenever a paired phone is connected to the Multi Media Interface.
**Information from your phone is only shored on the MM/ display and not stored or shored on the vehicle’s hard drive or memory.

Switch Between Paired Phones
A primary and secondary phone can be paired to t he vehicle. To swap the primary/secondary order, from the vehicle touch display select Phone . The secondary will now be primary and vice-versa.

Voice Recognition

Enable online speech dialog system:

1. On t he MMI, select Settings.
2. Select General.
3. Select Speech dialog system.
4. Consent to speech dialog system online recognizer, provide consent by sliding button to the right.
   • A short press of the Voice Recognition button <<•{: on the multifunction steering wheel will activate MMI voice recognition. You can control audio, navigation and telephone functions with voice recognition commands, such as “Play FM 103.5.”
   • When a compatible device is connected, a long press of t he Voice Recognition but ton <<•{: will enable voice recognition with your phone’s digital assistant. Use commands such as “Call Mary Smith, mobile” o r “Call last number dialed.”

Op e r ating the MMI Di s play W it h Voice Commands
To operate the voice recognition system using voice commands, use the MMI Display to select Settings >> General

Speech dialog system >> Activate the speech dialog system with “Hey Audi”.
• Say the activation phrase “Hey Audi” together with t he desi red command such as “Hey Audi, call John Smith”.
To switch voice recognition system off:
• Press and hold the Voice Recognition button <<•{: on the multifunction steering wheel. You can also say “Cancel” o r press Cancel on the t ouch display.

Call by N am e
When using voice recognition, speak in a normal voice, facing forward . Keep cabin noise to a minimum.

1. Short press the Voice Recognition button<<•{: on t he steering wheel. A beep will sound .
2. Say “Call” (e.g., “Call John Smith”).
3.  After system response, confirm request by saying “Yes.” You may also say “Cancel.”
   • If multiple numbers a re stored for a givencontact, the system will ask which you wish to  ial. To avoid this, indicate it in your initial request (e.g ., “Call John Smith, mobile”).
   Refer to your Owner’s Manual for additional voice recognition commands

Media

Media and Audio
The Multi Media Interface can access multiple media sources, including compatible Bluetooth-connected devices, USB connected
devices, onboard Radio/Satellite sources, online media (via Wi-Fi hot spot) and SD cards. Bluetooth streaming is not available when Apple CarPlay is active.
To access a media source:

1. Select Media on the t ouch display.

2. Select Source and choose from the available options.
   To connect additional mobile devices (after two phones a re pai red):

3. Select Media.

4. Select Source.

5. Select Connect external device.

6. Activate t he Bluetooth menu on the external device.
   Upper display shown.

7. Select New connection and select from available Bluetooth devices displayed . Press the Refresh icon O if the device is not displaying.

8. A PIN will be generated . Confirm the PIN on your mobile device.

Phone Apps

Audi Smartphone Interface

You can connect your compatible smart phone to the Multi Media Interface. Certain content on your phone will be adapted to the Infotainment system display and can be operated through the MMI controls.* This gives you easy access to your smartphone’s information, apps and voice recognition system through the MMI display.

Apple CarPlay®

To connect:

1. Turn ignition on with vehicle in Park.
2. Make sure your iPhone., is unlocked and is running the latest version of iOS.
3. Connect your iPhone with a manufacturer-approved cab le to either USB port.**
4. Respond to prompts as necessary from both Audi MMI as well as your iPhone.

• To connect to Wireless Apple Carplay, select “Enable Wireless CarPlay” on your iPhone.
Please note that your iPhone will have to be unlocked within the past hour in order to use Apple CarPlay with a USB to Lightning cable.

When connected:

• Long press the Voice Recognition button <<•{: on the steering wheel to activate Siri” .
• Make and receive calls.
• Send and receive text messages.
• Set reminders.
• Get turn-by-turn navigation.
• See recent places.
• Listen to music apps.

After the initial connection of an iPhone with Apple CarPlay, t he iPhone will automatically connect to Apple CarPlay during the next ignition cycle when t he iPhone is connected by USB or Wi-Fi.

*Always pay careful attention to the road, and do not drive while distracted. Not all features are available on all operating systems. Message and data usage rates apply. These features require a compatible device, updated operating system and mobile apps. See mobile device and app providers for terms and privacy. Apple CarPlay is a trademark of Apple Inc.

Some MM/ functions may not be available when Apple CarPlay is active. Refer to www.apple.com/ios/carplay/ for additional information.

Features
Apple CarPlay features Siri Voice Control. Siri must be enabled on the device to activate Siri features.* There are two ways to activate Siri:

• Press and hold the Voice Recognition button <<•{: on t he multifunction steering wheel until you hear the tone, which activates Siri .
• Press and hold the Home button on the touch display.

1. Home: Functions include:
   • Return to the Apple CarPlay home screen or to the Apple
   CarPlay Dashboard
   • Long press activates Siri.

2. Phone: Siri can help you make calls, return missed calls and list en to voicemail.

3. Maps: Activate Siri to assist with turn-by-turn directions, traffic conditions and estimated t ravel time. Say
   “Navigate to” and the destination.

4. Messages: Siri can send, read and reply to your text messages for you.

5. Press the Audi MMI button to ret urn to the Audi MMI system. Press t he Apple CarPlay but ton ~ to go back to the Apple CarPlay interface.

Additional apps available to stream music include Pandora, iHeartRadio and Spotify.
*Audio from Bluetooth connected devices is handled through Apple CarPlay. When Apple CarPlay is active, Bluetooth connection via the MM/ is disabled. To re-establish Bluetooth audio, select Phone menu >> select Audi MM/ >> select Media >> Source >> select your device from the list.

Android Auto™

To connect a compatible device:

1. Make sure your Android phone is running the most current operating system .
2. Ensure Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are turned-on .
3. You must have an active data plan.
4. Connect your phone to t he vehicle’s USB port via a USB cable.*
5. Respond to prompts as necessary from both the Audi MMI display as well as your phone. If your phone prompts you,
   then download the Android Auto app on Google Play or update to the newest version of the app.

When connected:

• Long press the Voice Recognition button <<•{: on steering wheel to activate Google Assistant or say “Hey Google” to get started.
• Make and receive calls.
• Send and receive text messages.
• Set reminders.
• Get turn-by-turn navigation.
• See recent destinations.
• Listen to music apps.

The phone will automatically connect to Android Auto during the next ignition cycle when connected by USB.
Google Assistant is not available in certain languages and countries.
Some MM/ functions may not be available when Android Auto is active. Refer to www.android.com/autol for additional information.
*Non-certified cables may not support data transfer or maintain a reliable connection.

Features

1. Microphone: Google Assistant can be activated with a long press of t he microphone on the t ouch display or by using touch display commands that work with available apps. Google Assistant can also be activated with a long press of the Voice Recognition button <<•{: on the multifunction @- steering wheel.

2. Navigation: Predictive navigation provides t urn-by-turn directions, traffic conditions and estimated travel time.
   Android Auto can predict where you want to go next based on your calendar and recent destinations.

3. Phone: Listen and reply to text messages, make calls or check your voicemail.

4. Home Screen: Takes you back to the home screen of Android Auto.

5. Music and Audio: Use your touchscreen to gain access to your favoriteartists, songs and playlists.* Android Auto lets you stream from apps such as Pandora, Spotify and iHeartRadio.

6. Vehicle Functions: Use it to return to the Audi MMI system.

W ire less Apple CarPlay and Wireless Android Auto
To connect:

1. Switch on t he Bluetooth function and Wi-Fi on your phone and make sure you are on t he Bluetooth menu when connecting your phone to the Audi infotainment.
2. Select Phone apps on t he Audi MMI.
3. Select To connected devices.
4. Select New connection.
5. Select your phone from t he list of devices.
6. Follow prompts in the MMI display and on your phone.

Wi-Fi, Amazon Alexa & my Audi

Wi-Fi Settings

With an Audi connect trial or an Audi connect PRIME or PLUS subscription, you can connect to the Internet using the Wi-Fi hotspot in the vehicle Audi connect PRIME includes Basic Wi-Fi which supports audio streaming and email. Audi connect PLUS includes full-speed Wi-Fi which supports video streaming . Up to eight compatible devices can be connected at one time. The ignition must be switched on.

Setup

1. From the display, select Settings.
2. Select Connection settings.
3. Select Wi-Fi.
4. Press the toggle icon G) to activate or deactivate.
   • A random password is set in t he MMI at the factory. The password should be changed in the settings to something secure yet memorable.
   • When Wi-Fi is switched on, t he MMI Wi-Fi hotspot is active and visible to other devices. In Wi-Fi settings, you can switch visibility on or off.

Amazon Alexa

Help manage your life on the go with in-car Amazon Alexa integrati on. With Alexa, you can ask to play music, hear the news, check the weather, control smart home devices, and more. Alexa is available in your vehicle with a trial or paid Audi connect Prime subscript ion. Once the Audi brand specialist has completed the Audi connect key user setup: Before setting up Amazon Alexa, confirm t hat the Speech Dialog System in your Audi is enabled .

1. From the home menu LJ , Go to Settings >> General >> Speech Dialog System.
2. Select Activate the speech dialog system with “Hey Audi”.
3. Select Consent to on line speech recognizer >> I accept the conditions and agree to the usage of my data (see EULA).

To set up Amazon Alexa:

1. From the Home Screen LJ select User.
2. Select Add User.
3. Select Log In Now.
4. Enter myAudi email and password, select Log In.
5. Pop ups may occur. Select your personal preferences to continue.
6. From the Users menu select the desired User.
7. Select Connect to Amazon Alexa.
8. Select YES, I agree for Amazon end user agreement.
9.  A QR code and a unique six-character pin will appear. Aim your smart phone camera at t he QR code. A link to the Amazon login site will appear on your smart phone. If requested, enter t he pin from the display.
10. Once the User is connected to Amazon, Alexa is ready to use.

Alexa will remain active until you log out of the my Audi account, or the Alexa connection is terminated.

myAudi Mobile App Connectivity*
The myAudi app** helps to personalize your Audi QS experience with a suite of smart services. Once you set up a myAudi account and an Audi brand specialist has completed the Audi connect key user set up, you can then log in from your QS via t he MMI. To log in:

1. From the home menu LJ , select User.
2. Select myAudi login.
3. Enter your my Audi Username and Password, press Login.
4.  An Amazon Alexa prompt may appear if you have Audi connect prime subscription. At t he Amazon Alexa login, select Yes or No. If Yes, see t he Amazon Alexa section above.
5. Your myAudi account will now be connected.
6.  From the myAudi mobile application, select the Vehicle icon on the bottom left. Scroll down to the “myAudi marketplace” section >> Click on the Shop button to enter the market place >> View eligible plans for your vehicle and select t he plan you would like.

*Certain myAudi app features require an Audi connect trial or a PRIME/PLUS plan.
