- Congratulations on your purchase of this product.
- Please read the instructions carefully before using the thermometer for the first time and keep these instructions in a safe place. This product is intended for measuring the temperature of small animals and pets.
Pets and Fever
- When your pet doesn’t feel well, it’s important to keep an eye on his/her temperature. Because even dogs and cats can get a fever.
- The normal body temperature for pets differs per species and breed and cannot be compared to the human body temperature. Please consult your veterinarian in case you have any doubt about the health or measured temperature of your furry friend.
- This thermometer has a small, flexible tip, to make sure that taking a measurement is as comfortable as possible for your pet.
How to take your pet’s temperature:
- Before measuring your pet’s temperature, make sure the probe is clean and disinfected.
- Apply baby oil or petroleum jelly to the tip.
- Don’t forget to reassure your pet while taking a measurement.
- Press the button once to switch on the device.
- The thermometer runs a check during which all the digital segments will appear on the LCD.
- After this check, the screen will show –.-°F (or –.-“Cl, the last saved temperature, and then -.-°F (or –.-°C) again. This means the thermometer is now ready to use.
- Insert the tip of the thermometer rectally. For small pets, insert it about 1 inch into the rectum. For larger pets, insert it about 2-3 inches. Go slowly and do not force it.
- Measurement may take between 10 and 25 seconds when it is inserted correctly. Wait until the measurement is taken and saved into the memory. This is indicated by 1 o soft beeps.
- Press the button to switch off the thermometer. Clean the thermometer after every use.
If you do not switch off the thermometer manually, it will automatically switch off after 1.5 minutes. Please note that this thermometer is a maximum thermometer. i.e. the displayed temperature can increase slightly if measurement continues after the beep.
Warnings
- Rectal use is recommended for pets.
- Oral temperature measurement is not advised for pets.
- Be careful when inserting the tip rectally, and do not force it.
- Make sure the tip of the thermometer is inserted correctly. Otherwise, the thermometer will measure inaccurate temperatures. For small pets, insert the thermometer about 1 inch into the rectum. For larger pets, insert it about 2-3 inches.
- Go slowly and do not force it.
Memory function
To see the saved measurement:
- Press the button once to switch on.
- The last measurement will now be shown.
- The thermometer will automatically switch off after 1.5 minutes.
Switching • F and• C
To switch to the other scale:
- Make sure the thermometer is off. If needed press the button once to shut off.
- Hold the button for 3 seconds and release the button as soon as °F or <>C appears.
Cleaning and disinfection
The best way to clean the thermometer tip is by applying a disinfectant (e.g. 70% ethyl alcohol) with a damp cloth. The waterproof thermometers can be immersed in liquid or lukewarm water for thorough cleaning and disinfection.
Safety precautions
- Do not allow the thermometer to come into contact with hot water.
- Do not expose the thermometer to high temperatures or direct sunlight.
- Do not drop the thermometer. It is neither shock-proof nor impact-resistant.
- Do not bend or open the device (except the battery compartment).
- Only clean the thermometer with water or disinfectant. (No thinners, petrol or benzene).
- Do not immerse the thermometer under water deeper than 7 “/ 15cm for longer than 30 min.
- The thermometer contains small parts (including a battery) which can be swallowed by children.
- For this reason, do not leave the thermometer unattended in the hands of children.
- Don’t bend the flexible tip more than 45 degrees.
- If the ambient temperature is over 95°F or 35<>C, dip the thermometer tip in cold water for 10 seconds prior to measuring the temperature.
- Persistent fever has to be treated by a vet.
Battery replacement
Change the battery (type LR41) when the empty battery symbol is displayed.
- Remove the cap. Hold the battery case between your fingers.
- Put a needle behind the battery and gently remove it.
- Insert a new LR41 battery ‘ with the – sign facing up.
- Put the cap back on.
Product disposal
- To protect the environment, please do not dispose of batteries as normal waste. Instead, please hand them in at a collection point or municipal recyclable material centre as special waste.
- This product must not be mixed with conventional domestic waste. Take these products to the appropriate waste collection points for correct handling and recycling.

- The device also complies with the specifications of the European Standard for clinical thermometers-Part 3: Performance of compact electrical thermometers (non-predictive and predictive) with maximum device.
- The CE marking confirms that this is a medical device with a measuring function as defined by the Medical Devices Act, which has undergone a conformity assessment procedure. A Notified Body confirms that this product fulfils all the appropriate statutory regulations.
- This thermometer conforms to all of the requirements established in ASTM Standard E 1112.

Calibration check

This thermometer is initially calibrated at the time of manufacture. If this thermometer is used according to the operation instruction, periodic re-adjustment is
not required. -
The calibration check should be carried out immediately, if there are indications that the product does not maintain the defined error limits or if the calibration could have been affected by an external factor or by any other means. Please observe any national statutory or administrative regulations. The calibration check can be carried out by any competent authorities or by authorised service providers. Test instructions for a calibration check can be provided to the relevant authorities and authorized service providers on request.
Warranty
- The warranty covers any defects in materials and workings of the product under normal use during the warranty period. iProven will either replace or repair the product at no charge, using new or refurbished replacement parts. The warranty of this product covers the first 2 years from the date of purchase. In case of repair or replacement, the warranty period is the remaining warranty of the original product purchase.
- The warranty does NOT cover batteries or packaging, nor any problem that is caused by conditions, malfunctions or damage not resulting from defects in material or workings.
