Proven BBT-113Ai Digital Basal Body Thermometer
Congratulations on your purchase of this product. Please read the instructions carefully before using the thermometer for the first time and keep these instructions closely stored in the device. This product is intended for the measurement of human body temperature.
Basal body temperature (BBT)
- Your basal body temperature (BBT) is your “at rest” body temperature. It is your base temperature and it is more consistent than the normal body temperature that you can measure at any time.
- You can use this basal body temperature to track your cycle. This temperature dips a bit before you ovulate. In the 24 hours after ovulation, yourtemperature rises and stays up for a couple of days.
- This change is minimal and can only be tracked with a thermometer that can accurately measure your temperature to the second decimal.
Operating Instructions
- Before use please disinfect the probe.
- Press the button once to switch on the device.
- The thermometer runs a check during which all the digital segments will appear on the LCD and a soft beep will sound.
- After this check the LCD shows –.– °F (or °C), the thermometer is now ready for use.
- Place the thermometer in the desired measurement position (oral or rectal).
- Wait until the measurement is taken (# 60 seconds) and saved in the memory. This is indicated by 3 soft beeps.
- Write the result in the chart directly or use the memory function later.
- Press the button to switch off the thermometer. If the thermometer is not switched off, it will automatically switch off after 1.5 minutes.

Methods of measuring temperature
The accuracy of a body temperature reading depends on the position where it is measured. When charting the body temperature, always indicate the measurement position. The usual measuring time is approximately + 60 seconds. A measurement is only completed when the temperature rises less than0.05 °F (0.1 °C) within 16 seconds.
NOTE: the under your armpit measurement is NOT valid for Basal Body Temperature measuring.
Rectal Measurement
- From a medical point of view this is the most accurate method because this position is closest to the core of the body. The thermometer tip is inserted carefully into the rectum for a maximum of 1 inch (2 cm).
Oral Measurement
- This is the most convenient measurement position for daily BBT measurements. There are different heat zones in the mouth. As a general rule, the oral temperature is 0.5-1.4 °F (0.3-0.8 °C) lower than the rectal temperature. To ensure that the reading is as accurate as possible: place the thermometer tip to the left or right of the root of the tongue. Keep the thermometer tip constantly in contact with the tissue under the tongue. Keep your mouth closed during the reading.
Important! Eating, drinking, and breathing through your mouth will influence the temperature of the mouth tissue. You will not be able to get an accurate BBT reading after eating or drinking. Also try not to breathe through the mouth in the 3 minutesbefore taking an oral measurement.
Cleaning and disinfection
The best way to clean the thermometer tip is by applying a disinfectant (e.g. 70% ethyl alcohol) with a damp cloth.
Safety precautions
- Do not expose the thermometer to water hotter than 122 °F (50 °C).
- Do not expose the thermometer to high temperatures or direct sunlight.
- Do not drop the thermometer. It is not shock- proof nor impact-resistant.
- Do not bend or open the device (except the battery compartment).
- Do not clean with thinners, petrol or benzine; Only clean the thermometer with water or disinfectant.
- Do not immerse the thermometer. Only clean the tip.
- The thermometer contains small parts (including a battery) which can be swallowed by children. For this reason, do not leave the thermometer unattended in the hands of children.
- If the ambient temperature is over 95°F(35°C), dip the thermometer tip in cold water for 10 seconds prior to measuring the temperature.
- Persistent fever, in particular in children, has to be treated by a doctor. If this occurs please get in touch with your doctor!
