SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or injury to persons when using this appliance, follow basic safety precautions, including the following:

  • Do not wash articles that have been previously cleaned in, washed in, soaked in or spotted with gasoline, dry-cleaning solvents or other flammable or explosive substances as they give off vapors that could ignite or explode.
  • Do not add gasoline, dry-cleaning solvents or other flammable or explosive substances to the wash water as they give off vapors that could ignite or explode.
  • Under certain conditions, hydrogen gas may be produced in a hot water system that has not been used for 2 weeks or more. HYDROGEN GAS IS EXPLOSIVE. If the hot water system has not been used for such a period, turn on all hot water faucets and let the water flow for several minutes before using the washing machine. This will release any accumulated hydrogen gas. Do not smoke or use an open flame during this process.
  • Always unplug the washing machine from the power supply before attempting any service. Disconnect the power cord by grasping the plug, not the cord.
  • To reduce the risk of fire clothes, cleaning rags, mop heads and similar items which have traces of any flammable substance such as vegetable oil, cooking oil, petroleum based oils or distillates, waxes, fats, etc, must not be placed in the washing machine. These items contain flammable substances which ever after washing may smoke or catch fire.
  • Never place items in the washer that have been dampened with gasoline or any combustible or explosive substance. Do not wash or dry anything that has been soaked or spotted with any type of oil including cooking oils. Doing so can result in fire, explosion or death.
  • Do not allow children to play on or in the appliance. Close supervision of children is necessary when the appliance is used near children.
  • Pets and children may climb into the machine. Check the appliance before every operation.
  • The glass door or protector may be very hot during operation. Keep children and pets away from the appliance during operation.
  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) whose physical, sensory or mental capabilities may be different or reduced, or who lack experience or knowledge, unless such persons receive supervision or training to operate the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
  • Children must be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
  • When children become old enough to use the appliance, it is the legal responsibility of the parents or legal guardians to ensure that they are instructed in safe practices by qualified persons.
  • Do not machine wash fiberglass materials such as curtains and window coverings that use fiberglass materials. Small particles may remain in the washing machine and stick to fabrics in subsequent wash loads causing skin irritation.
  • Before the appliance is removed from service or discarded, remove the door and cut off the power cord.
  • Do not reach into the appliance if the tub or agitator is moving.
  • Do not install or store this appliance where it will be exposed to the weather.
  • Do not tamper with the controls.
  • Do not repair or replace any part of the appliance or attempt any servicing unless specifically recommended in the user maintenance instructions or in published user repair instructions that you understand and have the skills to carry out.
  • Ensure that all pockets are emptied.
  • Sharp and rigid items such as coins, nails, screws or stones etc, may cause serious damage to the appliance.
  • Check whether the water inside the drum has drained before opening the door. Do not open the door if there is water visible.
  • Do not disconnect the power cord from the power source with wet hands.
  • If connected to a circuit protected by fuses, use time delay fuses with this appliance.
  • Do not add fabric softeners or products to eliminate static unless recommended by the manufacturer of the fabric softener or product.
  • The interior of the appliance should be cleaned periodically by qualified service personnel.
  • Packing materials can be dangerous to children. Keep all packing materials such as plastic bags, foam, etc, away from children.
  • This appliance should not be installed in rooms that are very wet or likely to accumulate standing water.
  • This appliance should not be installed in rooms that may accumulate flammable, explosive or caustic gasses.
  • Ensure that the water and electrical devices are connected by a qualified technician in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and local safety regulations.
  • All packaging and transport bolts must be removed before operating this appliance.
  • This appliance is for indoor use only.
  • Do not climb or sit on the top of this appliance.
  • Do not lean against the appliance door.
  • Do not close the door with excessive force.
  • Handle the appliance carefully. Do not use the door or detergent drawer to lift or grip the appliance.
  • Do not turn the appliance upside down or on its side.
  • Make sure hoses and cables do not cause a trip hazard.
  • Warnings and important safety instructions
    in this manual DO NOT cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur. It is your responsibility to use common sense, caution and care when installing, maintaining and operating this appliance.

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance must be grounded. Grounding reduces the risk of electrical shock by providing an escape wire for the electrical current.
This appliance has a cord that has a grounding wire with a 3-prong plug. The power cord must be plugged into an outlet that is properly grounded. If the outlet is a 2-prong wall outlet, it must be replaced with a properly grounded 3-prong wall outlet. The serial rating plate indicates the voltage and frequency the appliance is designed for.

WARNING – Improper use of the grounding plug can result in a risk of electric shock.
Consult a qualified electrician or service agent if the grounding instructions are not completely understood, or if doubt exists as to whether the appliance is properly grounded.
Do not connect your appliance to extension cords or together with another appliance in the same wall outlet. Do not splice the power cord. Do not under any circumstances cut or remove the third ground prong from the power cord. Do not use extension cords or ungrounded (two prongs) adapters.
If the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similar qualified person in order to avoid hazard.
Any questions concerning power or grounding should be directed toward a certified electrician.

REQUIRED TOOLS

  • 1/4” nut driver
  • 3/8” socket with ratchet
  • 3/8” open end wrench
  • Adjustable wrench or 7/16” socket with ratchet
  • Adjustable wrench or 9/16” open end wrench
  • Channel lock adjustable pliers
  • Carpenter’s level

LOCATION

  • The location must be large enough to allow the appliance door to open fully. The door can open more than 90° and is not reversible.
  • It is recommended to allow 2.5 cm (1”)of space on all sides of the appliance to reduce noise.
  • The floor must be level and strong enough to support the appliance when it is fully loaded.
  • It is not recommended to install this appliance on carpeting.
  • The appliance must be located within 95.25 cm (37.5”) of the power supply if located to the left of the unit, 1.3 m (55”) if it is to the right of the unit.
  • The appliance must be located within 1.4 m (57”) of the water supply if located to the left of the unit, 95.25 cm (37.5”) if located to the right of the unit.
  • The appliance must be located within 92.25 cm (37.5”) of the drain if located to the left of the unit, 1.5 m (60”) if located to the right of the unit.
  • Do not operate this appliance in temperatures below 0°C (32°F) as water inside the hoses or appliance could freeze and damage the appliance.
  • Avoid placing the appliance in direct sunlight.
  • Do not place the appliance near heat sources.

TRANSPORT BOLTS
Remove all packaging materials from the appliance. Please dispose of packing materials properly. Do not allow children to play with packing materials.

Before using this appliance, the transport bolts must be removed from the back.1. Loosen the four transport bolts truning them anticlockwise using a wrench.

  1. Remove the transit bolts with a straight pull.
  2. Cover the holes with the provided transport hole plugs.
  3. The transport bolts secure the inner tub of the appliance during transportation. Keep the transport bolts for future use.

LEVEL THE APPLIANCE
There are four adjustable feet on the four corners of the appliance. If the appliance is not level, follow these instructions.

  1. Loosen the lock nut securing the adjustable feet.
  2. Turn the feet until the appliance is level.
  3. Tighten the lock nuts to ensure the feet stay secure.

INLET HOSE CONNECTION
This appliance can be connected using one hose or two, depending on how many connections are available at the water supply.
If only one faucet is available, use the cold water connection on the back of the appliance. If two faucets are available, then both water connections can be used.
First, connect the provided inlet hoses to the back of the appliance. The hot water connection uses the red capped hose and connects to the red valve. The cold water connection uses the white capped hose and connects to the white valve.

WATER SUPPLY
C onnect the inlet hoses to the water supply faucets. Tighten the connections with a wrench.
Turn on the water supply before using the appliance and ensure that there are no leaks at any water connections.
If your machine has a hot water inlet connection, the temperature of the hot water supply should not be higher than 70°C (158°F).

DRAIN HOSE INSTALLATION
The drain hose will arrive pre-attached to the appliance. When running the drain hose toward a sink, standpipe or drain, ensure that there are no bends in the hose as this can cause a blockage and impede the drain function.

  • Never attempt to extend the water drain hose
  • Do not put the water drain hose from your machine into a container, bucket or bathtub
  • Make sure that the water drain hose is not bent, buckled, crushed or extened
  • The water drain hose must be installed at a height of no more than1m (39.5”)

If draining into a sink, place the hose through the provided holder.
If connecting to a standpipe or to the outlet elbow of a household sink, additional equipment will be required.

DETERGENT DRAWER

Main wash detergent compartment
This compartment is for liquid or powder detergents or limescale remover.

NOTE
Liquid detergent attachment not available on all models.

Fabric conditioner, starch, detergent compartment
This compartment is for softeners, conditioners or starch. Follow the instructions on the packaging. If softeners leave residue after use, try diluting them or using a liquid softener.

Pre-wash detergent compartment
This compartment should be used only when the pre-wash feature is selected. The pre-wash feature is recommend for use with very soiled laundry.

DETERGENT
It is recommended to use the amount of HE (High Efficiency) detergent recommended by the detergent manufacturer. Remember to reduce the amount of detergent if the load is small or lightly soiled or if the water supply is very soft water.

Laundry detergent pods MUST be placed directly into the drum and NOT placed into the detergent drawer.

  1. Main detergent compartment.
    • Never exceed the manufacturer’s recommendations when adding detergent.
  2. Fabric softener compartment.
    • Do not exceed the maximum fill line.
    • Adding fabric softener is optional.
  3. Pre-wash detergent compartment.
    • Do not use more than 1/4 of the amount that is put into the main detergent compartment.
    • Adding pre-wash detergent is optional and should only be used for heavily soiled loads.
FUNCTION INSTRUCTION

Prior to starting the washing machine, check the following:

  • • The drain hose is in the correct position.
    • There are no leaks in the inlet hoses when the faucets are turned on.
    • The power cord is properly plugged into a three prong grounded outlet.
    • All coins and loose items have been removed from clothing.
    • Place clothing into the washing machine. Drop items loosely into the tub. Do not pack items tightly. Items must be able to move freely through the wash water for best cleaning results.
    • Follow the instructions to set the desired wash program.
    • Add the desired amount of detergent.
    • Close the door and press the start/pause button to begin the desired program.
    • A wash program can be paused once it is in operation by pressing the start/pause button.
    • The appliance will not operate if the door is open.
    • When a program is finished, an alarm will sound.

PROGRAM DIAL

To select the desired program, turn the program dial either clockwise or counter-clockwise until the marker on the dial points to the chosen program.

NOTE
The appliance features a half-load detector. When less than half the maximum load of laundry is placed in the washer it will automatically set the half- load functions, regardless of the program selected.
This feature will take place once the machine begins operation and will adjust the time depending on the load.

AUXILIARY FUNCTIONS

Auxiliary functions can be selected before starting the program.

  1. Press the corresponding button for the required function. Continual pressing of that button will cycle through the available settings.
  2. If the symbol of the function is continuously on it is enabled.
  3. If the symbol of the function is flashing it is not enabled.

Function not enabled

  • Not available for wash program selected.
  • Program has passed the step where function could be applied.
  • The function is not compatible with a previously selected function.

STAIN LEVEL
Used to wash in shorter or longer durations, at lower or higher temperatures. Stain levels are automatically set in some programs. If there are no changes in the level when pressing the button, there are no stain levels in the program selected.

EXTRA RINSE
Used to add extra rinsing for the laundry. If the extra rinse function does not illuminate, this feature is not available in the selected washing program.

TEMP
Used to set the temperature of the washing water. When a new program is selected, the maximum temperature for the program LED will be illuminated. Pressing the washing water temperature button will decrease the water temperature gradually between the maximum temperature of the selected program and the cold water wash.

SPIN
Used to set the spin speed for the laundry. When a new program is selected, the maximum spin speed for the program LED will be illuminated. Pressing the spin speed button will decrease the spin speed gradually between the selected program maximum spin speed and no spin.

Steam

The steam used during washing penetrates and loosens fibres. This function reduces creases and leaves clothes soft and delicate.

OPTION BUTTON

Four auxiliary functions are selected using the Option button and can be selected before starting the program.

  1. Press the option button to cycle through and select the required function. If the symbol of the auxiliary function is continuously on it is enabled
  2. If the symbol of the auxiliary function is flashing it is not enabled

Function not enabled

  • Not available for wash program
  • Program has passed the step where auxiliary function could be applied
  • The auxiliary function is not compatible with a previously selected function

Prewash Button

Used to perform a prewash before the main wash. Detergent must be added to the prewash dispenser.

Rapid Wash Button

Used to wash laundry in a shorter time.

Easy Ironing Button

Used to have less creased clothes after washing.

Rinse Hold Button

Used to hold the laundry in the last rinse cycle for extra soaking time. Press the Start/Pause button when you want to empty the machine. The washer will empty the water in it and finish the program without spinning.

CHILD LOCK FUNCTION
The child lock will lock the control panel so that options cannot be chosen or changed by accident.
Press and hold the Options and Steam button simultaneously for at least 3 seconds. “CL” will flash on the electronic display for 2 seconds when activated.
Repeat this procedure to disengage the child lock.

NOTE
The door remains unlocked when the child lock is active and electricity is cut off.

TIME DELAY FUNCTION
The time delay function can be used to set the appliance to run at a later time.

To set the time delay function:

  1. Select the desired wash program.
  2. Press the delay button repeatedly to choose the amount of time before the appliance will run the chosen cycle.
  3. Press the start/pause button to confirm the selections. The appliance will count down the delay time and will begin the chosen program when the time elapses.

NOTE
If power to the appliance is lost during the time delay period, the appliance will remember the program when power is restored and will continue the count down.

ADDING AN ITEM
It is possible to add a forgotten item to the appliance when a wash program is already running.

To add a forgotten item:

  1. Press and hold the start/pause button for 3 seconds to pause the current program.
  2. Wait until the drum stops rotating, the water level is below the bottom of the door and the door is unlocked.
  3. Add the forgotten item and close the door.
  4. Press the start/pause button to resume functioning.

NOTE
Do not add an item when the water level is higher than the bottom of the door as this can cause water to leak out of the appliance.

Caution: The inside of the appliance may be hot. Use caution when adding a forgotten item to a wash program.

PROGRAM END
The appliance will automatically stop when the selected program ends.

  1. “End” will appear on the electronic display
  2. The door can be opened to remove laundry
  3. Turn the program knob to OFF
  4. Unplug the machine
  5. Turn off the water tap

NOTE
It is recommended the door is left open so that the inside of the machine can dry.

EMERGENCY DOOR RELEASE
In case of a power failure or other circumstances where the door cannot be opened, there is an emergency door release on the front of the appliance.

  1. Turn off and unplug the machine.
  2. Drain the water by following the instructions for cleaning the pump filter section.
  3. Pull down the emergency opening mechanism with the help of a tool and open the door at the same time.
  4. Move the emergency opening handle to the open position after being closed again.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 if the door remains locked.

IMPORTANT: Do not force open the door if the appliance is still filled with water. The water will flood the room.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

CLEANING
Before performing any cleaning or maintenance, ensure that the water inlet hose has been disconnected and that the power cord has been unplugged.
Clean the outside of the appliance with a warm, damp cloth. Avoid using detergents or chemicals as this can damage or discolor the cabinet.

DETERGENT TRAY
The detergent dispenser may occasionally need to be cleaned of accumulated detergent.

  1. Pull the drawer forwards until it is fully extended.
  2. Press down at the indicated location and pull the dispenser outward.
  3. Lift the slip and remove the softener cover. Wash the dispenser with warm water.
  4. Replace the softener cover and replace the dispenser in the appliance.

WATER HOSE AND VALVE FILTER
There is a filter inside the inlet hose and water inlet valve that may need to be cleaned of accumulated debris or hard water scale. Ensure the water supply is turned off before cleaning. Both filters can be removed using a pair of long-nosed pliers.
Remove the inlet hose from the faucet and rinse with water. Remove the filter from the water inlet valve using a pair of long-nosed pliers to gently pull on the plastic bar in the filter.

DRAIN PUMP FILTER
The drain pump filter on the front of the appliance should be periodically cleaned of any accumulated debris. It is recommended that you clean the pump filter every 2 months.

Note: Place a container under the filter cover to collect any water left in the machine.

  1. You may use the washing powder spade supplied with your machine or liquid detergent level plate to open the pump cover.
  2. Lodge the end of the liquid detergent level plate in the opening of the cover and gently press backwards. The cover will open.
  3. Remove any foreign materials from the filter with a soft brush.
  4. Replace the filter by inserting it and turning clockwise.
  5. Ensure the mountings inside the cover meet the holes on the front panel side.
  6. Close the filter cover.

TROUBLESHOOTING

ERROR CODES

LIMITED “IN HOME” WARRANTY

This quality product is warranted to be free from manufacturer’s defects in material and workmanship, provided that the unit is used under the normal operating conditions intended by the manufacturer.
This warranty is available only to the person to whom the unit was originally sold by Danby Products Limited (Canada) or Danby
Products Inc. (U.S.A.) (hereatter “Danby”) or by an authorized distributor of Danby, and is non-transterable.

TERMS OF WARRANTY
Plastic parts are warranted for thirty (30) days from the date of purchase, with no extensions provided.

First 24 months
During the first twenty four (24) months, any functional parts of this product found to be defective, will be repaired or replaced, at warrantor’s option, at no charge to the original purchaser.
To obtain service Contact the dealer where the unit was purchased, or contact the nearest authorized Danby service depot, where service must be performed by a qualified service technician. If service is performed on the unit by anyone other than an authorized service depot, all obligations of Danby under this warranty shall be void.

Boundaries of in-home service
Danby reserves the right to limit the boundaries of “In Home Service” to the proximity of an authorized service depot. Any appliance requiring service outside the limited boundaries of “In Home Service”, will be the consumer’s responsibility to transport at their own expense to the original point of purchase or a service depot for repair. If the appliance is installed in a location that is 100 kilometers (62 miles) or more from the nearest service center, it must be delivered to the nearest authorized Danby Service Depot by the purchaser.
Transportation charges to and from the service location are not protected by this warranty and are the responsibility of the purchaser.

Nothing within this warranty shall imply that Danby will be responsible or liable for any spoilage or damage to food or other contents of this appliance, whether due to any defect of the appliance, or its use, whether proper or improper.

EXCLUSIONS
Save as herein provided, by Danby, there are no other warranties, conditions, representations or guarantees, express or implied, made or intended by Danby or its authorized distributors and all other warranties, conditions, representations or guarantees, including any warranties, conditions, representations or guarantees under any Sale of Goods Act or like legislation or statute is hereby expressly excluded. Save as herein provided, Danby shall not be responsible for any damages to persons or property, including the unit itselt, howsoever caused or any consequential damages arising from the malfunction of the unit and by the purchase of the unit, the purchaser does hereby agree to indemnify and hold harmless Danby from any claim for damages to persons or property caused by the unit.

GENERAL PROVISIONS
No warranty or insurance herein contained or set out shall apply when damage or repair is caused by any of the following:

  1. Power failure.
  2. Damage in transit or when moving the appliance.
  3. Improper power supply such as low voltage, defective house wiring or inadequate fuses.
  4. Accident, alteration, abuse or misuse of the appliance such as inadequate air circulation in the room or abnormal operating conditions (ie. extremely high or low room temperature).
  5. Use for commercial or industrial purposes (ie. If the appliance is not installed in a domestic residence).
  6. Fire, water damage, theft, war, riot, hostility, acts of God such as hurricanes, floods etc.
  7. Service calls resulting in customer education.
  8. Improper Installation (ie. Building-in of a free standing appliance or using an appliance outdoors that is not approved for outdoor application, including but not limited to: garages, patios, porches or anywhere that is not properly insulated or climate controlled).
    Proot of purchase date will be required for warranty claims; retain bills of sale. In the event that warranty service is required, present the proot of purchase to our authorized service depot.
