Hardware Connections
  1. Insert the connector of the power adapter into the DC input hole on the Printer Server.
  2. Plug the power adapter to a power outlet.
  3. Connect a USB 2.0 Cable (not included) to the USB-A Port on the Print Server and the other end to a USB-A port on a Printer.
  4. Connect an CAT5e/6 Cable to the RJ45 Port on the Print Server and to a Router or Network Device

Note: The Power LED becomes green indicates that the Print Server is on and has correctly connected to the Network.

Installation Preparation
  1. Install the printer driver from the website of the printer manufacturer.
  2. Check the ip address of the printer/usb server.

(1) Check the ip address of the printer server in the client list of the router. The mac address of the printer server should be 80:3f:5d:xx:xx

(2) You could also try to check the ip address via the Command of the system.
Go to the Command Prompt (Windows) by pressing the key “ windows “+” r ” and enter “ cmd ” or Terminal (Mac OS).
Then enter the command “ arp -a “. The Print Server’s IP address and MAC address will appear. The MAC address will match the one on the bottom of the Print Server. (The Print Server may take several minutes for it to appear in the arp table).

Printer Configuration
For Windows

1. Navigate to the Control Panel Screen and select the Devices and Printers icon.

2. Click “ Add a printer ” at the top of the screen.
3. On the “ Add a Device “, click on “ The printer that I want isn’t listed “.

4. On the “ Add Printer “, select “ Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname “, then click “ Next “.

5. On “ Hostname or IP address “, enter the IP address assigned to the print server, then click “ Next “.

6. Set “ Device Type ” to “ Custom “, then click “ Settings “.

7. On “ Configure Standard TCP/IP Port Monitor “, set the “ Protocol ” to “ LPR “.
8. Under “ LPR Settings “, enter “ Ip1 ” into the “ Queue Name “, then click “ OK “.

9. On “ Add Printer “, click “ Next “.
10. Select the corresponding “ Manufacturer ” and “ Model ” for your printers from “ Install the Printer Driver “. Then click “ Next “.

Note:

  • If your printer model doesn’t appear in the list, please select “ Windows Update ” (this update may take several minutes) to update the list of printer models. When the update is complete, select “ Manufacture ” and “ Model ” for your printers again.

11. At “ Which version of the driver do you want to use?
Please choose “ Use the driver that is currently installed ” and then follow the wizard to finish the installation.

For Mac OS

1. On “ System Preferences “, click “ Printers & Scanners” icon.

2. On “ Printers & Scanners“, click the “ + ” icon on the left side of the screen.

3. On “ Add “, select the printer on the default tab and click “ Add “.

4. If no printer on the default tab, please select the IP tab at the top of the screen, and enter the IP address of the Print Server in “ Address “, and set “ Protocol ” to “ Line Printer Daemon-LPD ” and “Queue” as “ Ip1 “.
5. The wizard will automatically attempt to detect the driver needed for the printer. When it has chosen one, click “ Add “.
If the system could not detect the driver, please choose “ Select software ” in “ Use ” and choose the corresponding software.

Configuring Network Settings

1. Enter the ip address of the usb server in the browser to log in the management page.
2. In the management page , click on the “ Network “.
There are several information can be configured or changed on “ Network ” :

  • IP Setting : the Print Server’s current IP Setting, Fixed IP and Automatic (DHCP) can be settled according to the setting of the print server.
  • IP Address : Showing the Print Server’s current IP Address.
  • Subnet Mask : Showing the Print Server’s current Subnet Mask.
  • MAC Address : Showing the Print Server’s MAC address.
  • DHCP Setting : Assign a dynamic IP Address to the connected device each time the device connects to a network. Select either to Enable or Disable Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP).
  • IP Address : If the DHCP field is Disabled, you can manually enter an IP Address. If the DHCP field is Enabled, the IP Address will be generated automatically.
  • Subnet Mask : Allow you to enter a subnet mask.
  • Server Name : Allow you to enter a server name.
  • Password : Enter the user defined password in order to apply changes to the Network Settings.

Note:
If no password has been created, password is not required to make changes to the Network Settings.

3. Click “ Submit ” to save changes made to “ Network Settings “.
4. Click “ Clear ” to clear a Password if one has been entered in “ Password “.

FAQ

1. What should I do if the dhcp of my router is disabled?****

(1) Connect a CAT5e/6 Cable to the RJ45 Port on the Print Server and to a Computer
(2) Set your network adapter to the following settings:
IP Address : 169.254.10.xxx
Subnet Mask : 255.255.0.0.
Gateway : n/a
(3) Access to the web interface by entering the IP address that you have got into the address bar of a browser.
(4) Please go to Network and choose “ Disable ” for “ DHCP setting ” then click Submit. Next enter the corresponding ip address and the subnet mask and click Submit again.
(5) Change the IP address for your network adapter back to its original IP address.
(6) Disconnect the CAT5e/6 Cable from the computer, then connect it to a RJ45 Port on a Router or Network Device.
(7) Add the printer by using the specific steps of Operating System.

2. How to reset the printer server?****

Please press the reset button for 6-10s.
