Installation

To install the Mobile Asset v6 software on a multi-PC setup, follow these steps:

Install the database only on this PC
Install the tools only on this PC
Install both the tools and the database on this PC

Step 2: Setting up the Server

If you choose to install both the tools and the database or install the database only, the current PC will become the server.

Step 3: Configuring Client PCs

If you choose to install only the tools, you will be prompted to provide the computer name of the server that has the database. Follow these steps:

Type in the computer name of the server.
The workstation tools will now use the database located on the server for all its work.

When you first install it asks you if you want to install the database only on this PC, the tools only on this PC, or the tools and the database on this PC.
If you install Tools and Database or install Database only, this PC is now your server.
If you install Tools only, it then asks you what the computer name of the server is that has
the database. You type in the server computer name and then the workstation tools use that database for all its work.
