Softening system
Hard lime-containing water leaves limescale residues on the dishes and the rinse aid container and can clog parts of the appliance. For good washing results, you can soften water with water softening and softening salt. To prevent damage to the device, water with a hardness level of more than 7 °dH must be softened.
10.1 Overview of the water hardness settings
Here you will find an overview of the adjustable water hardness values. You
can request the water hardness from your local water company or determine it
with a water hardness tester.

12 Dishwashing liquid
12.1 Suitable dishwashing detergents Only use detergents that are suitable for
the dishwasher. Suitable for both non-combined and combined detergents. For
optimal washing and drying results, use a non-combined detergent in
combination with separate softening salt Page 26and rinse aid Page 28.
Dishwashing liquid
Modern, powerful dishwasher detergents usually have a low alkaline formulation
with enzymes. Enzymes break down starch and dissolve proteins. Oxygen-based
bleaches are usually used to remove colored stains (e.g. tea or ketchup).
Remark:Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for any dishwasher detergent.
Tip:Suitable dishwasher detergents are available online via our website or
service department Page 54. Tabs Tabs are suitable for all dishwashing tasks
and do not require dosing.
With shortened programs, tabs may not dissolve completely, leaving detergent
residue behind. This can negatively affect the cleaning effect.
Dishwashing powder
For shortened programs, detergent powder is recommended. The dosage can be
adjusted to the degree of contamination. Liquid dishwasher detergent Liquid
detergents work faster and are recommended for shortened programs without a
pre-rinse phase.
It may happen that liquid detergent added to it runs out of the detergent
dispenser even though it is closed. This is not a defect and is not serious if
you observe the following: ¡Choose only one program
without pre-rinse phase. ¡Do not enter a time setting for the
program starts.
29
Dishwashing liquid
The dosage can be adjusted to the degree of contamination. Non-combined
dishwasher detergent Non-combined dishwasher detergents are products that
contain no further components besides the actual dishwasher detergent.
Examples of this are dishwasher powder or liquid dishwasher detergent. For
powder and liquid detergent, the dosage can be adjusted to the degree of
soiling of the dishes.
For better washing and drying results and to prevent damage to the appliance,
it is advisable to also add softening salt Page 26 and rinse aid Page 28to
use.
Combined dishwasher detergent In addition to traditional noncombination
detergents, a number of products with additional functions are offered. In
addition to detergent, these products also contain rinse aid and salt
substitutes (3in1) and, depending on the combination (4in1, 5in1, …)
additional components such as glass protection or rinse aid for stainless
steel. According to the manufacturer’s specifications, combined detergents
generally only function at water hardnesses of 21 °dH. With a water hardness
of more than 21 °dH, you must add softening salt and rinse aid. For optimal
washing and drying results, we recommend using softening salt and rinse aid
from a water hardness of 14 °dH. If you use combined detergents, the washing
program is automatically adjusted accordingly to achieve optimal washing and
drying results.
30
12.2 Unsuitable dishwasher detergent Do not use detergents that could damage
the appliance or harm your health. Hand dish soap Hand dishwashing liquid can
lead to increased foam formation and damage the appliance.
Chlorine-containing dishwasher detergent
Chlorine residues on dishes can endanger health.
12.3 Information about dishwashing detergents
During daily use, follow the instructions regarding dishwasher detergents.
¡Detergents marked with the
thing “Bio” or “Eco” usually contain (for environmental reasons) smaller
amounts of active substances or certain substances even not at all. This may
limit the cleaning effect.
¡Set the rinse system and the water softening depends on the non-combined or
combined detergent used.
¡Combined dishwashing detergents with salt substitutes can only be used up to
a certain degree of hardness, usually 21 °dH, without the addition of
softening salt, according to the manufacturer’s instructions. For optimal
washing and drying results, we recommend using softening salt from a water
hardness of 14 °dH.
¡Do not touch dishwashing detergents with an in
water soluble protective packaging only with dry
hands and only place it in a dry detergent container to prevent the packaging from sticking. ¡Even when the indication is shining refill rinse aid and the refill salt indicator lights up, the dishwasher programs run smoothly when using combined detergents.

¡Use tabs with special drying
performance.
12.4 Filling with detergent
1.To open the detergent dispenser, press the lock.
If you use tabs, one tablet is sufficient. Place tabs crosswise in the tray. When using powder or liquid dishwasher detergent, follow the manufacturer’s dosage instructions and the dosage format of the detergent dispenser. For normal levels of soiling, 20 ml 25 ml of dishwasher detergent is sufficient. For less soiled dishes, a slightly lower amount of detergent than indicated is sufficient.

Depending on the program, it opens automatically at the optimal time for the
program. The dishwasher powder or liquid detergent is spread and dissolved in
the rinse aid container. Tabs fall into the tablet tray and are dissolved in
doses. Do not place any objects in the tablet tray so that the tab can
dissolve evenly. Tip:If you use detergent powder and select a program with
pre-rinsing, you can additionally sprinkle some detergent on the inner door of
the appliance.

2.Load the dishes and observe the following:
Place heavily soiled crockery such as pans in the lower crockery basket. The
stronger spray jet gives you a better washing result.
Place dishes in a safe and stable position in the appliance to prevent
damage to the dishes.
