VOLVO Active 500 Roof Box Travel User Guide
Introduction
Follow the instructions carefully when installing the roof box.
NOTE
- Read the safety instructions at the end of the manual.
Key number
Please note down the number of your key in the box above. If you lose the key,
this can be re-ordered.

Precautions for use
Maximum luggage weight
Always carefully divide the load in the roof box. The maximum capacity of the roof box is 75 kg.
Maximum speed
Never exceed the maximum speed limit when the roof box is installed. Maximum speed limit is 130 km/h.
Load size
Be aware of the size of the luggage. Never place luggage that prevents the roof box lid from closing properly
Roof box rim
Avoid holding on the roof box rim as it may damage it.
Traffic danger
Always carefully approach the roof box near roads. Avoid approaching the roof
box from the traffic side.
Accidental close
Always be careful when the lid is open as it can accidentally close, causing injuries.
Wind effects
Always make sure the lid is properly closed, otherwise side wind may
accidentally open it.
Be careful when driving in wind as it can affect the ability to steer.
Parking
Be aware when parking in closed places that the roof box is on the roof of the vehicle and the total height is higher.
Car wash
Always remove the roof box when washing the car in automated car wash.
Storage precautions
Always store the roof box horizontally and away from direct sunlight.
Never park under transparent roofed parking spots when the roof box is
installed.
Be aware, that at least 100 cm is needed between the top of the roof box and
the roof when parking inside.
Never use straps to close the lid or to fix the roof box on the vehicle.
Always keep the instructions in the vehicle.
Never store any of the following in the roof box:
- Pets
- Sharp objects
- Construction materials
- Powdery substances
- Corrosive materials
- Flammable liquids
- Explosive materials

Installation process
a, Unlock the roof box with the key
b, Push the button as illustrated
c, Open the roof box lid
Loosen the 4 clamps counterclockwise With help, carefully place the roof box
on the roof. The weight of the roof box is 23,5 kg.
Be careful not to damage the paint of the roof.
Make sure that the locking clamps are in place, and the roof racks are between
the locking clamps.
Make sure, that
The roof box is installed in the direction of travel.
The luggage compartment door can be opened.
The roof box is paralell to the direction of travel.
Make sure that the clamps are installed properly as illustrated.
Tighten the clamps clockwise until clicks
Do not use any tools to tighten the clamps.
Make sure that the clamps holds the roof racks as illustrated.
Always secure the load in the roof box with the supplied strap.
a, Close the roof box lid
b, To lock the lid properly, make sure that it clicks 3 times. If the lid
is closed properly, the opening button is in the original position.
c, Make sure that the button is in the original position. Lock the roof
box lid by turning the key counterclockwise, and remove the key.
Measure the total height of the vehicle and note it down on the provided
sticker.
Keep in mind that the vehicle is higher with the roof box installed.
Information
NOTE
Regularly check that the load carriers are secure on the roof and that the
roof box is secure on the load carriers.
NOTE
Be aware that the height and driving characteristics of the car change when
the roof box is mounted.
NOTE
Check that the box is properly locked and the key removed before travelling.
NOTE
Remove the load carriers and roof box before using a car wash.
NOTE
For safety reasons the car must not be driven faster than a maximum of 130
km/h. Adjust speed according to the transported load and applicable speed
regulations.
Note that wind noise can occur when the roof box is installed.
NOTE
Always store the roof box lying down when not in use.
NOTE
This manual should be stored with the car’s owner’s manual.
NOTE
Installation and use deviating from these instructions may cause damage to the
car and surroundings.
