    • Reagent: DPD 1 IG 6903A-J/6903A-CN-J for Free Chlorine, DPD 3 IG 6197A-J/6197A-CN-J for Total Chlorine

Product Usage Instructions

  • Blank (Calibration)
    • Fill the sample bottle (0689) with a water sample and replace the cap.
    • Fill the clean tube (0205) to the 5 mL line with the same water sample. Cap the tube with the blue cap.
    • Insert the tube into the ColorQ 2x.
    • Press the button to turn the meter on. When “Blank” appears, press the button to calibrate the meter and proceed to Free Chlorine (FCL) testing.
  • Free Chlorine (FCL)
    • Add 1 DPD 1 IG Tablet to the same tube used for Blank calibration.
    • Cap the tube with the blue cap and shake it for 10 seconds. Invert it slowly 5 times to mix.
    • Insert the tube into the ColorQ 2x.
    • Press the button to read FCL Free Chlorine.
    • Press the button to go to TCL Total Chlorine or remove the tube.
  • Total Chlorine (TCL)
    • Remove the cap from the reacted FCL tube.
    • Add 1 DPD 3 IG Tablet to the same tube.
    • Cap the tube with the pink cap and shake it for 10 seconds. Invert it slowly 5 times.
    • Insert the tube into the ColorQ 2x.
    • Press the button to read TCL Total Chlorine.
    • Press the button to return to Blank or hold the button until “Blank” is displayed. Remove the tube.

    • Q: Can children use this product?
    • A: This product should not be used by children except under adult supervision.
    • Q: What should I do if the unit auto-off during testing?
    • A: Rinse and fill a tube, repeat the Blank calibration, and return to testing.
    • Q: Are there any substances that can interfere with the test results?
    • A: Yes, substances such as bromine, chlorine dioxide, iodine, oxidized manganese and chromium, and ozone can interfere with thetest results. Please refer to www.lamotte.com for more details.
    • Q: How should I handle the reagents and tubes?
    • A: Cap the tubes securely to prevent leaks. Do not interchange color-coded caps. Dry the tubes before placing them in the chamber. Rinse the tablet crusher after each use. Brush and rinse tubes, caps, and tablet crusher after testing. Allow the tubes to dry before returning them to the case. Use only LaMotte reagents and cap them securely.
    • Q: How do I turn the meter on and off?
    • A: Press the button to turn the meter ON and OFF.
    • Q: Is there a way to skip a test?
    • A: Quickly press the button twice to skip a test.
    • Q: How can I eliminate stray light during testing?
    • A: Cap the tube to eliminate stray light.
    • Q: What should I do in case of a potential health hazard?

BLANK (CALIBRATION)

Blank

  1. Fill sample bottle (0689) with water sample. Replace cap.
  2. Fill clean tube (0205) to the 5 mL line with water sample. Cap tube with cap. blue
  3. Insert tube into the ColorQ 2x.
  4. Press the button to turn the meter on . When “Blank” appears press the button to “Blank” the meter, and go to Free Chlorine (FCL).
    • WARNING! This set contains chemicals that may be harmful if misused. Read cautions on individual containers carefully. Not to be used by children except under adult supervision.

FREE CHLORINE

FCL

  1. Add 1 DPD 1 IG Tablet to same tube.
  2. Cap tube with cap. Shake for 10 seconds. Invert slowly 5 times to mix. blue
  3. Insert tube into the ColorQ 2x.
  4. Press button to read “FCL” Free Chlorine.
  5. Press button to go to “TCL” Total Chlorine. Remove tube.
    • Reagent is a potential health hazard.

TOTAL CHLORINE

TCL

  1. Remove the cap from the reacted FCL tube.
  2. Add 1 DPD 3 IG Tablet to the same tube.
  3. Cap tube with pink cap. Shake for 10 seconds. Invert slowly 5 times.
  4. Insert tube into the ColorQ 2x.
  5. Press the button to read “TCL” Total Chlorine.
  6. Press the button to return to “Blank” or hold the button until is displayed. Remove tube.
    • 0 – 8 ppm FCL and TCL results EPA Accepted. See www.lamotte.com. for details.
    • INTERFERENCES: bromine, chlorine dioxide, iodine, oxidized manganese and chromium, and ozone.
    • Read the instructions before testing.
    • Press the button to turn the meter ON and OFF
    • Quickly press the button twice to skip a test.
    • Cap the tubes securely to prevent leaks.
    • Do not interchange color-coded caps.
    • Dry the tubes before placing them in the chamber.
    • Rinse the tablet crusher after each use. Brush and rinse tubes, caps, and tablet crusher after testing.
    • Allow the tubes to dry before returning them to the case.
    • The tube specified in the test procedure must be used.
    • Use only LaMotte reagents. Cap securely.
    • If the unit should auto-off during testing, rinse and fill a tube. Repeat Blank and return to testing.
