MOUNTING BRACKET FOR PLUG-ININSTALLATION
MOUNTING BRACKET FOR HARDWIRE INSTALLATION
IMPORTANT: Fixture may be installed as a plug-in wall sconce or as a hardwired wall sconce.
-
Determine desired location for installing fixture.
Ensure location is within 7 feet of an electrical outlet. -
For plug-in installation use straight mounting bracket. Hold mounting bracket so attached fixture mounting screws (E) are facing outward.
-
Place mounting bracket (A) against wall at desired position. Fixture mounting screws (E) should be on the left and right. Ensure mounting bracket (A) is level. Mark on the wall the location of each slotted hole on left and right of center hole in mounting bracket (A). Place mounting bracket (A) aside.
-
Using a drill bit the appropriate size for wall anchor
(H), drill holes in wall at each marked location. -
Carefully tap each wall anchor (H) into holes.
IMPORTANT : Supplied wall anchors (H) are for drywall.
If your wall is a different material, use wall anchors suitable for your wall material.
NOTE: Wall anchors are not needed if installing mounting bracket (A) to wall stud. -
Place mounting bracket (A) on wall. Align slotted holes with wall anchors (H). Thread one wall screw (G) into each slotted hole in mounting bracket (A) and into wall anchors (H). Tighten wall screws (G) to secure mounting bracket (A) to wall.
-
Place backplate (D) over mounting bracket (A).
Pass holes in backplate (D) over ends of fixture mounting screws (E). -
Screw one threaded cap (F) onto each fixture mounting screw (E). Tighten threaded caps (F) to secure fixture to wall.
-
Pass hole in top of outer shade (K) over socket.
Pass hole in top of inner shade (M) over socket.
Using socket ring tool (N), thread socket ring (L) onto socket. Tighten socket ring (L) to secure shades (K/M) in place. DO NOT over tighten. -
Screw recommended bulb (E26 Edison bulb type, not included) into socket. Verify correct bulb wattage marked on socket of fixture. WARNING:
DO NOT exceed maximum bulb wattage. -
Insert plug into electrical outlet. On/Off switch is on backplate (D).
-
To adjust position of arm: Loosen key at bottom and/or middle of arm. Adjust arm to desired position. Tighten keys to secure arm in place. DO NOT over tighten.
HARDWIRE INSTALLATION
- Use round mounting bracket. Position mounting bracket (A) so threaded ends of attached fixture mounting screws (E) are facing out.
- Carefully pull house wires through large hole in mounting bracket (A). Align holes in mounting bracket (A) with holes in junction box. Make sure fixture mounting screws (E) are level.
- Thread each junction box screw (B) into appropriate slots in mounting bracket (A) and into holes in junction box. Tighten junction box screws (B) to secure mounting bracket (A) to junction box. CAUTION: Make sure house wires are pulled completely through hole in mounting bracket. DO NOT pinch wires between mounting bracket and wall.
To remove cord:
-
Loosen coupling (L) from bottom of backplate (D). In backplate (D), pull approximately eight inches of the cord up into the backplate (D). At the hole in backplate (D) where the cord enters the backplate (D), cut off the rest of the cord. Slide the strain relief (N) off the cord. Remove the cut-off portion of cord.
-
Screw finial (P) onto threaded pipe on bottom of backplate (D)
-
Split the SPT wires 3 inches (76.2mm) and strip the ends of the wires .50 inch (12.7mm).
-
Slightly loosen ground screw on mounting bracket (A). Do not completely remove ground screw. Wrap house ground wire (copper) around ground screw, leaving enough ground wire to attach to fixture ground wire. Twist end of fixture ground wire and end of house ground wire (copper) together. Twist wire nut (C) onto ends of wires. Completely tighten wire nut (C). Reference chart below for correct wire connections.
Connect Supply (House) Ground Copper Wire to:
Bare Copper Wire or,
Bare Silver Wire or,
Green Insulated Wire.
- Twist end of house lead wire (black) and end of fixture lead wire together. Twist wire nut (C) onto ends of wires. Completely tighten wire nut (C). Twist end of house neutral wire (white) and end of fixture neutral wire together. Twist wire nut (C) onto ends of wires. Completely tighten wire nut (C). Reference chart to the right for correct wire connections.
- Wrap electrical tape (not included) around wire nuts (C) and wires. Ensure wires are securely fastened into wire nuts.
- Carefully push all wires and wire nuts into junction box.
- Place backplate (D) over mounting bracket (A).
