Colour coding

  • The operating elements for the cleaning process are yellow.

Proper use

Use this high pressure cleaner exclusively for:

  • Cleaning machines, vehicles, buildings, tools.
  • with accessories and spare parts approved by Kircher.

Danger

Risk of injury! Follow the respective safety regulations when operating at gas stations or other dangerous areas.

Symbols on the machine

High pressure jets can be dangerous if improperly used. The jet must not be directed at persons, animals, live electrical equipment or at the appliance itself.

Danger of damage to the machine on account of frozen water! Store the appliance in a headroom during winter or empty it.

Icon Risk of hearing impairment. Always use proper ear-protection aids while working with the appliance. Risk of injury! Wear safety goggles.

Risk of poisoning! Do not breathe in the exhaust fumes.

Risk of burns! Beware of hot components.

According to the applicable regulations, the appliance must never be used on the drinking water supply without a system separator. Use a suitable system separator manufactured by KÄRCHER; or, as an alternative, a system separator as per EN 12729 Type BA. Water flowing through a system separator is considered non-drinkable.

CAUTION

Always connect the system separator to the water supply, never directly to the appliance!

Safety instructions

Motor

DANGER

  • Do not use high pressure cleaners when there has been an oil spill; move the appliance to another spot and avoid any sort of spark formation.
  • Wipe spilled fuel off the appliance.
  • Soak up fuel spilled on the floor using binding agents.
  • Do not store, spill or use fuel in the vicinity of open flames or appliances such as ovens, boilers, water heaters, etc. that have an ignition flame or can generate sparks.
  • Keep even mildly inflammable objects and materials away from the silencer (at least 2 m).
  • Do not start the engine without the silencer; check, clean and replace, if required, the silencer at regular intervals.
  • Do not use the engine in forest, bushes or grassy areas without fitting a spark receiver at the exhaust.
  • Except for setting jobs, do not run the engine when the air filter is removed or there is no cover over the suction support.
  • Do not make any adjustments to the regulator springs, regulator bars or other parts that can bring forth an increase in the engine speed.
  • Risk of burns! Do not touch hot silencers, cylinders or radiator ribs.
  • Do not put hands or feet close to moving or rotating parts.
  • Risk of poisoning! The appliance should not be operated in closed rooms.

High pressure hose

Danger

Risk of injury!

  • Only use original high-pressure hoses.
  • The high-pressure hose and the injection system must be suitable for the maximum operating pressure given in the Technical Data.
  • Avoid contact with chemicals.
  • Check the high-pressure hose daily. Do not use hoses with kinks. Stop using the high-pressure hose if the external wire layer is visible.
  • Do not use the high-pressure hose anymore if the winding is damaged.
  • Lay the high-pressure hoses in such a way that no vehicle can drive over it.
  • Do not use high-pressure hoses that have been driven over, kinked, pressed or bent even if there is no externally visible damage.
  • Store the high-pressure hoses in such a way that they are not subject to any mechanical load.

Safety Devices

Safety devices serve to protect the user and must not be rendered in operational or their functions bypassed.

Safety catch

The safety catch on the trigger gun prevents the appliance from being switched on unintentionally.

Overflow valve

  • While reducing the water supply/quantity regulation at the pump head, the overflow valve opens and part of the water flows back to the pump suck side.
  • If the hand spray gun is closed, the overflow valve opens and the entire water volume will flow back to the pump suction side.

The overflow valve and pressure switch are set and sealed at the factory. Setting only by customer service.

Safety valve

The safety valve opens when the overflow valve is defective.

The safety valve is set by the manufacturer and sealed. Setting only by customer service.

Thermostat valve

The thermal valve protects the high-pressure pump from unacceptable heating during circuit operation.

Attachment set lack of water fuse (option)

The lack of water fuse shuts off the engine when the water supply is scarce (water pressure too low).

Start up

Danger

Risk of injury! Device, tubes, high pressure hose and connections must be in faultless condition. Otherwise, the appliance must not be used.

Check oil level of the high pressure pump

  • Cut off tip of oil container cover

  • Check oil level of the high pressure pump.
    The oil level must be at the centre of the oil level display.

  • Add oil if required (see technical specifications).

Check oil level in the gears.

  • The oil level must be at the centre of the oil level display.
  • Add oil if required (see technical specifications).

Motor

Follow the instructions given in the section “Safety Notes”!

  • Read the operating instructions of the engine manufacturer before start-up and follow the safety instructions carefully.
  • Check air filter.
  • Fill the fuel tank with unleaded petrol.
  • Do not use 2-speed mixture.
  • Check oil level of the engine.
  • Do not operate the appliance if the oil level has fallen below “MIN”.
  • If required, top up oil carefully

Risk of explosion! Do not put tools or similar on the battery, i.e. on the terminal poles and cell connectors.

Danger

Risk of injury! Ensure that wounds never come into contact with lead. Always clean your hands after having worked with batteries.

Installing and connecting the battery

  • Insert battery in battery mount.
  • Fasten the battery.
  • Connect pole terminal (red cable) to positive pole (+).
  • Connect pole terminal to negative pole (-).

Note

Before removing the battery, make sure that the negative pole lead is disconnected.
Check that the battery pole and pole terminals are adequately protected with pole grease.

Charging battery

Danger

Risk of injury! Comply with safety regulations on the handling of batteries. Observe the directions provided by the manufacturer of the charger.

  • Disconnect battery.
  • Connect positive terminal cable from the charger to the positive pole connection on the battery.
  • Connect negative terminal cable from the charger to the negative pole connection on the battery.
  • Plug in mains connector and switch on charger.
  • Charge battery using lowest possible level of charging current.

Check fluid level in the battery and adjust if required

Warning

Regularly check the fluid level in acid-filled batteries.

  • Unscrew all cell caps.
  • Where fluid level is too low, top up cells to the mark provided with distilled water.
  • Charge battery.
  • Screw in cell caps.

Attaching the Accessories

WARNING

Risk of injury on account of unsuitable accessories. Only use accessories approved for the working pressure of the appliance (see “Specifications”).

Only install accessories when the appliance is switched off.

  • The maximum torque for the screw connections of the high pressure hose is 20 Nm.
  • Connect high pressure hose and spray pipe to the hand spray gun.
  • Mount the power nozzle on the spray pipe. Tighten covering nut firmly.
  • Connect the high pressure hose to the high pressure connection point of the machine.

Water connection

WARNING

Observe regulations of water supplier.

According to the applicable regulations, the appliance must never be used on the drinking water supply without a system separator. Use a suitable system separator manufactured by KÄRCHER; or, as an alternative, a system separator as per EN 12729 Type BA. Water flowing through a system separator is considered non-drinkable.

CAUTION

Always connect the system separator to the water supply, never directly to the appliance!

  • Use a fibre-reinforced hose (not included in standard delivery). Diameter should be minimum 1″.
  • Connect the hose to the water connection of the appliance.
  • Connect the hose to the water tap.

Suck in water from vessel

A prepressed pump must be connected in front of the appliance to suction water.

Danger

Never suck in water from a drinking water container.

DANGER

Never draw in fluids containing solvents or undiluted acids and solvents! This includes petrol, paint thinner and heating oil. The spray mist thus generated is highly inflammable, explosive and poisonous. Do not use acetone, undiluted acids and solvents as they are aggressive towards the materials from which the appliance is made.

  • Connect the water connection of the appliance to the prepressed pump (suitable hose: 4.440 270.0).
  • Remove air from appliance before operation

DE aerating the appliance

  • Open the water supply.
  • Unscrew the nozzle.
  • Press the lever on the hand spray gun.
  • Start the engine according to the operating instructions of the engine manufacturer.
  • Switch on the appliance and let it run until the water exiting from the spray pipe is bubble-free.
  • Switch off the appliance and fit the nozzle again.

Operation

DANGER

  • The appliance may not be used in areas where a risk of explosion is present.
  • Place the appliance on firm, even surface.
  • The high pressure cleaner must not be used by children. (Risk of accident on account of improper use of the appliance).
  • The water jet coming out of the high pressure nozzle causes the gun to recoil. Further, an angular spray pipe can cause additional torque. Hence hold the spray pipe and gun firmly.
  • Never direct the water jet on to persons, animals, the appliance itself or electrical components.
  • Risk of injury on account of high pressure water jet and mobilised dust. Wear protective glasses, protective gloves, a protective suit, special safety boots and a middle foot protection.
  • The jet must not be directed by the user at him/herself or at other persons to clean clothing or footwear.
  • Do not use the appliance while other people are present.
  • Risk of hearing impairment. Always use proper ear-protection aids while working with the appliance.
  • Vehicle tyres/ tyre valves may not be cleaned with this appliance due the high water pressure.
  • Do not spray materials contains asbestos or other health-hazardous substances.
  • Pay attention to ensure that all screws of all connecting hoses are tightened properly.
  • The lever of the hand spray gun must not be locked during the operation.
  • Do not drive over the main cable or the high pressure hose.
  • Work only with adequate lighting.

Turning on the Appliance

  • Open the water supply.
  • Unlock the safety lock at the hands pray gun by pressing it.
  • Press the lever on the hand spray gun.
  • Start the engine according to the operating instructions of the engine manufacturer.

High pressure operation

Warning

The handgun is subjected to a recoil force when the water jet is discharged. Make sure that you have a firm footing. Hold the handgun and spray lance firmly.

Power nozzle

The appliance is equipped with the following nozzles:

  • Power nozzle, 15° spray angle
    • High pressure flat spray (15°) for large dirt areas

Note

To prevent damage due to too much pressure, always position high pressure ray first from a greater distance towards object to be cleaned.

Set working pressure and flow rate

  • Pull the lever on the handgun.
  • Set the working pressure and quantity by turning the pressure/ quantity regulation mechanism at the pump unit. The working pressure can be read from the manometer.

Interrupting operation

  • Release the lever on the trigger gun.
  • Use the safety catch to secure the handgun lever.
  • Store the hand spray gun and spray pipe in the accessory mount.
  • In case of extended interruptions (several minutes), switch off the engine.

NOTICE
When the lever of the hand spray gun is released, the engine continues to run at decreased speed. The water thus circulates

within the pump and gets heated. When the cylinder head at the pump has reached the maximum permissible temperature (80 °C), the term-valve on the pump opens and lets out the hot water into the open.

Finish operation

  • After operating the water using saline water (sea water), open the hand spray gun and rinse the appliance for at least 2 – 3 minutes using tap water.
  • Release the lever on the trigger gun.
  • Set the appliance switch at the engine to OFF and close the fuel supply valve.
  • Shut off water supply.
  • Activate hand spray gun until device is pressure less.
  • Use the safety catch to secure the handgun lever.
  • Remove the water inlet hose from the appliance.
  • Store the hand spray gun and spray pipe in the accessory mount.
  • Stow away the high-pressure hose and accessory at the machine.

Frost protection

Warning
Risk of damage! Freezing water in the appliance can destroy parts of the appliance. Store the appliance in a heated room during winter or empty it. During longer breaks in operation, it is advisable to pump in antifrost agents into the appliance.

Drain water

  • Screw off water supply hose and high pressure hose.
  • Blow through machine with compressed air

Flush device with anti-freeze agent

Note
Observe handling instructions of the antifreeze agent manufacturer.

  • Pump in conventional frost protection agents through the appliance.

A certain corrosion protection is achieved
with this as well.

Transport

CAUTION
Risk of injury and damage! Observe the weight of the appliance when you transport it.

Driving

  • Push the push handle down and push the appliance.
  • When transporting in vehicles, secure the appliance according to the guidelines from slipping and tipping over.

Transport by crane

  • Connect the lifting device in the center of the strut to load by crane.

DANGER
Risk of injury due to machine dropping.

  • Adhere to the local accident prevention guidelines and safety notes.
  • Check the appliance for crane loading for damage prior to each transport by crane.
  • Check the lifting unit for damage prior to each transport by crane.
  • Only lift up the appliance by this mechanism when loading by crane.
  • Do not use stop chains.
  • Protect the lifting device from inadvertent load release.
  • Remove the spray pipe with hand spray gun as well as loose articles prior to transporting by crane.
  • Do not transport any articles on the appliance during the lifting process.
  • The appliance must only be transported by properly trained crane personnel.
  • Do not stand below the load.
  • Ensure that no persons are present in the immediate vicinity of the crane.
  • Do not leave the appliance on the crane unattended.

Storage

CAUTION
Risk of injury and damage! Note the weight of the appliance in case of storage. This appliance must only be stored in interior rooms.

Care and maintenance

DANGER
Observe the safety notes in the engine operating instructions prior to any care and maintenance work.

DANGER
Risk of injury if the machine is left running in an unattended state. Remove the spark plug before doing any work on the appliance. Risk of burns! Do not touch hot silencers, cylinders or radiator ribs. Carry out maintenance tasks to the engine  according to the specifications provided in the operating instructions of the engine manufacturer

Maintenance

Safety inspection/ maintenance contract

You can sign with your dealer a contract for regular safety inspection or even sign a maintenance contract. Please take advice on this matter

Before each use

  • Check oil level of the engine.
  • Check oil level from the oil level display of the gears.
  • Check oil level from the oil level display of the high pressure pump. Please contact Customer Service immediately if the oil is milky (water in oil).
  • Check the high pressure hose for damages (risk of bursting). Please arrange for the immediate exchange of a damaged high-pressure hose.
  • Check appliance (pump) for leaks. 3 drops per minute are permitted and can come out from the lower side of the appliance. Call Customer Service if there is heavy leakage.

Weekly

  • Clean filter at the water connection.
  • Check tire pressure of wheels (refer to “Specifications”).

In the first month or after 20 operating hours

  • Replace engine oil.

After 50 operating hours

  • Change oil in the pump.

Every 50 operating hours

  • Clean air filter in the engine.

Every 100 operating hours

  • Replace engine oil.
  • Check and clean the spark plug.
  • Check fuel filter.

Every 200 operating hours

  • Replace engine oil filter.

Every 300 operating hours

  • Check/adjust the tappet clearance.

Annually or every 500 operating hours

  • Replace the spark plug.
  • Replace engine oil filter insert.
  • Change fuel filter.

Change the oil and high pressure pump:

  • For oil type refer to technical specifications.
  • Turn out the oil drain screw.
  • Drain the oil in a collection basin.
  • Screw in oil drain plug.
  • Fill in new oil slowly until the center of the oil level display.

Note
Air pockets must be able to leak out. Change gear oil:

  • For oil type refer to technical specifications.
    Turn out the oil drain screw.

  • Drain the oil in a collection basin.

  • Screw in oil drain plug.

  • Fill in new oil slowly until the center of the oil level display.

Every 2 years

  • Clean fuel tank.
  • Check the fuel hose

Troubleshooting

You can rectify minor faults yourself with the help of the following overview. If in doubt, please consult the authorized customer service.

DANGER
Observe the safety notes in the engine operating instructions prior to any care and maintenance work.

DANGER
Risk of injury if the machine is left running in an unattended state. Remove the spark plug before doing any work on the appliance. Risk of burns! Do not touch hot silencers, cylinders or radiator ribs.

WARNING
Repair work on the appliance may only be performed by the authorized customer service.

Appliance is not running

  • Follow operating instructions of the engine manufacturer!
    • The water shortage fuse (option) was triggered due to low water inlet pressure.
  • Check water inlet pressure, minimum value see “Specifications”

Device is not building up pressure

  • * Operating speed of the engine is too low
  • Check operating speed of the engine (refer to technical data).
    • Wrong nozzle
  • Check nozzle for correct size (see technical specifications).
    • Flushed the nozzle.
  • Clean/ replace nozzle.
    • Filter is dirty.
  • Clean filter at the water connection. Unscrew the filter casing, remove the filter, clean it and replace it.
    • Air within the system
  • Appliance ventilation: Unscrew the nozzle. Switch on the appliance and let it run until the water exiting from the spray pipe is bubble-free. Switch off the appliance and fit the nozzle again.
    • Pipe inlets to pump are leaky or blocked
  • Check all supply lines to the pump for leaks or blockages.

High pressure side is leaky

  • Pump leaky

Note
3 drops/minute are allowed.

  • With stronger leak, have device checked by customer service.

High pressure pump is vibrating

  • Check all supply lines to the high-pressure pump for leaks or blockages.
  • Appliance ventilation: Unscrew the nozzle. Switch on the appliance and let it run until the water exiting from the spray pipe is bubble-free. Switch off the appliance and fit the nozzle again.

Warranty

The warranty terms published by our competent sales company are applicable in each country. We will repair potential failures of the appliance within the warranty period free of charge, provided that such failure is caused by faulty material or defects in fabrication. In the event of a warranty claim please contact your dealer or the nearest authorized Customer Service center. Please submit the appliance, including all accessories, and the proof of purchase.
