Hardware requirements
Below are the requirements for the specification of the computer unit for the N Control 4000 software:
- Intel Pentium4 3.0@3.0 GHz CPUor higher.
- RAM memory 4GB DDR4 ECC or higher.
- OS: Microsoft Windows 7/8.1/10 (32/64 bit)/ Windows Server 2008 (64 bit) / MacOS 11.6 or higher .
- 100/1000 Mb/s network card.
- RADEON X700 Series 256MB Graphics Card or better.
- Minimum 500 GB SATA hard drive.
INSTALLATION AND LAUNCHING OF THE SOFTWARE
Installation of the software
Download N Comtrol 4000 from www.novuscctv.com and save it on the local drive. Run the software to begin the installation. Setup windows is displayed (as shown below). In the next installation steps, the following windows will appear:

INSTALLATION AND LAUNCHING OF THE SOFTWARE
After the operation is completed, the following window will appear confirming
successful installation. If the Launch N Control 4000 option is selected, the
program will startomatically just after Finish button is clicked.
First launch
The first time the N Control 4000 software is launched, you must define a supervisor password
Enter the password in the Password field. It can contain uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and special characters. The Password Strength line shows information about the password strength while typing. It is displayed in the form of a color:
- red – the password is weak
- yellow – the password is medium
- green – the password is strong
The password must contain at least 8 characters
To confirm, enter the password again in the Confirm Password field.
If the Auto Login After Registration checkbox is marked, the software
will not require password
authentication when starting up
After pressing the Next button, a window appears where you must select 2
security questions and define the answers – knowing these answers will allow
you to define new password if you lose the old one.
The Finish button will complete the first login process and the login window
will appear. This
window also appears every time you start the software.
Running the software.
The N Control 4000 software can be launched by clicking on the N Control 4000 icon on the desktop, in the Menu bar, in the place defined during installation in the Start Menu or in the installation directory (the default path is C:\Program Files (x86)\NOVUS\N Control 4000)
Login window
After launching the software, a login window will appeal
In the left part of the window, you can select the login mode. The Account Login mode is shown by default, which allows users defined on the computer to log in (only admin at the beginning), which can manage multiple devices
In the upper part of the window, select a user and enter his password. If you check the member Password box, the user’s password will be remembered on the computer, you will not have to type it the next time you log in. By checking the Auto Login box, the login window will not appear at the next startup – the login process for this user will be automatic. The Login button will log the user in.
At the bottom, the Forgot Password? allows to redefine the administrator password using security questions defined at the first launch (see chapter 2.2).
Device Login mode allows to log in to a single device. In this mode, you
do not need to set up an account on the computer. You just log in to the
account set up on the camera or recorder, you want to connect.
It is required to provide the IP address of the device or P2P ID code, HTTP
port set on the recorder (by default port 80), username and password. If you
check the Remember Password box, the user’s password will be remembered on the
computer, you will not have to enter it the next time
This mode has limited functionality. The next part of this manual describes the full functionality menu after logging in the Device Login mode.
Main menu
After starting the software and logging in to the user account, the main menu
appears.
The following parts can be distinguished on the screen:
- Icons of open software tabs for quick navigation between them. The first „house” icon is responsible for the main menu.
- Icons of window resolution, switching between users, video player launch, and the standard minimize, maximize, and close window icons.
- Current time, date and PC CPU load level.
- Operation icons activating the relevant tabs – live view, remote playback, local playback, log search, AI event search, AI data analysis.
- Configuration icons enabling the relevant tabs – devices management, alarmonfiguration, cruise settings, user accounts, recording locations, file management, systeconfiguration, map, AI configuration.
- Alarm bar displaying of alarm events
Language change
In order to change the software language, enter the system configuration. Press the System config icon in the main menu.
The settings window will open (the appropriate icon will be visible in the
upper bar), theeneral tab. The default language is English. After pressing
this field, a list of languages is displayed. Select the language you are
interested in and save the change using the Save button in the lower right

Note! The language of the software will change on software restart. Close
the program with a
cross in the upper right corner of the window and restart it.
BASIC FUNCTIONS
Adding devices
To add a device, select Device Management in the Main Menu. A menu opens where
we can add or remove devices.
In the upper right corner there are icons that allow to perform basic actions:
- exporting the list of devices to an .xml file.
- importing a list of devices from an .xml file.
- adding devices
- delete selected devices
After pressing the icon, the device adding window will appear.
Fill the specified fields:
- device name helpful for the operator;
- login type – IP address or P2P ID;
- IP address or ID number – according to the type selected in the previous field;
- connection protocol – Private for Novus 4000 series cameras and recorders, Onvif for other devices;
- device http port number;
- username on the device;
- user’s password.
Press the Add button to confirm the data and the device appears on the list of devices.
After adding all devices, the table shows a list of devices with their names,
IP addresses, device type (IP ca era, NHDR or NVR), connection protocol,
device firmware version, connection status (green mark means correct
connection, gray means no connection), number prenumber, number of channels,
P2P ID number.
There are checkboxes on the left side that allow to select group of devices. There are icons on the right side to make operations on single device:
- changing connection parameters with the device.
- device configuration. It allows to configure all device parameters in the same way as connecting to the device via a web browser.

BASIC FUNCTIONS
Another way to add devices is to choose the Auto Search tab.
Select the protocol type and press the Search button. All devices in the LAN
will be displayed. In case of a large number of devices, you can limit the
range of IP addresses using the Filter button.
The table in which the devices are displayed has the same columns as the list
of added devices described on the previous page. The Operation column is added
at the end, which allows to add a device using the + icon (in this case, enter
the username and password) or using the pencil icon (you can also edit the
device’s network parameters there). The last column contaickboxes, which allow
to select a group of devices, and then use the Add button to connect them all
at once (typing a common username and password)
Creating user accounts
If the N Control 4000 software is used by more than one person, it is recommended to create separate user accounts. Select the Account Management icon in the main menu,
A window with a list of users will open. Initially, there is only the admin
user.
Additional users can be added using the + icon in the upper right corner.
BASIC FUNCTIONS
Enter the username and define its password in the user adding window. Then, define its Basic Rights (concerning software functions), Channels to which it is to have access (devices must be added before) and Channel Rights (e.g. rights to watch “live”, play records, download records, PTZ control, etc.). After creating the user, it will appear in the list of users
Main view
To watch the live view of connected channels, select the Main View icon in the main menu.
A window with a division will appear, to which you can freely assign a channel
view. In the left part there is a tree of connected devices. By expanding each
of them, you can get a lie iostreams that can be assigned to the right place
by dragging onto the view window
In the lower right corner there are auxiliary fields:
- aspect selection box – original image, stretched, 4:3, 16:9
- screen split selection – you can choose one or define your own divisions
- floppy disk icon to save the defined view
- enable full screen view. To exit it, press the Esc button on the keyboard or press the right mouse button and turn off full-screen mode.
- icon to enable the display of intelligent video analysis events configured in connected devices
Views saved using the floppy disk icon can be quickly activated by switching
to the next tab using the icon located in the upper left corner.
NOTE! The N Control 4000 software allows to enable multiple views at
once. The icon in the
upper bar has a number and a small + sign that allows to open another window.
Having several
views open, you can grab them with the left mouse button and move them to
another monitor as a separate window. Each of these windows can be
individually configured, switched telescreen mode, etc.
The icon next to it enables the PTZ camera control panel.
By hovering over the image from individual channels, a bar with icons appears
at the bottom of the window, allowing you to perform operations for a selected
channel. The number and types of icons depend on the connected camera.
In the example above, there are icons that allow to make a snapshot, enable video recording on the computer, digital zoom, enable conversation (only if the camera has an audio output), mark the place with a tag, play the last 10 minutes of recording from the camera (only if it is urgently being recorded
BASIC FUNCTIONS
Remote playback
The N Control 4000 software enables playback of video recordings made on recorders. To do this, select the Remote playback icon in the main menu.
A window will open where you can distinguished the following parts:
- Recordings search mode – the first icon is responsible for playing video recordings, the second one for browsing photos, the third one for browsing recordings marked with tags.
- Tree of connected devices. All connected devices are here, whether they have recordings or not (e.g. directly connected cameras). Select the channels you want to play records.
- Device search field – in the case of a large system, you can search for individual channels using their names.
- Defining the video stream (main or secondary), recording type (all, alarm, triggered by the intelligent analysis function – using the button, you can indicate a specific event) and the time period. After defining these parameters, press the Search button.
- Windows for displaying records from selected channels.
- Navigation buttons to control playback.
- Timeline displaying the time and type of recordings, allowing to jump to the appropriate time of records.
In order to find the appropriate event and play the record, use the procedure below:
- Select the channels of interest for playback in the tree of connected devices (part 2 of the window).
- Select the stream type, recordings and time period (part 4 of the window).
- Press the Search button.
- On the timeline, click on the axis of recordings of a particular channel (part 7 of the window). In the upper right corner of the timeline there are + and – icons that allow to change the time range on the axis.
- Use the navigation buttons to control the playback, download the appropriate record
Downloading recording files from the recorder for the selected channel
Synchronization of playing channels (to do this, you must first stop all playing channels)
Pause. When pressed, the icon changes to the play icon.
Marking the selected fragment of recordings for download. In place of this icon, a floppy disk icon appears that saves the selected recording interval on the disk.
Stop playback.
Reverse playback. Pressing again will increase the reverse speed
Slow playback. Pressing again will decrease the playback speed
Quick play. Pressing again will increase the playback speed.
Moves the recording forward one frame
Enables audio playback.
Smart Search
Plays all channels
Stops all channels from playing
Opens the panel for fisheye cameras.
Changing the division of the playback screen.
Enable full screen view. To exit it, press the Esc button on the keyboard or press the right mouse button and turn off full-screen mode
