Safety Precautions
Before using the product, please take note of the following safety
precautions:
- A regulated power supply is required for the camera. The power supply is not included in the package.
- Using a non-regulated or non-conforming power supply can damage the product and void the warranty.
- Follow all instructions for safe use and handling of the product.
- Use the camera within given temperature, humidity and voltage levels noted in the camera specifications.
- Do not disassemble the camera.
- Do not point the camera directly at the sun or a source of intense light.
- Periodic cleaning may be required. Use a damp cloth only. Do not use any harsh, chemical-based cleaners.
- The supplied cable is rated for surface mounting only (Non-UL). Cables for in-wall and floor-to-floor installations are sold separately (CMR type). These and other cables are available at lorex.com.
- It is recommended to connect the camera to the NVR or an external PoE switch. If using a power adapter with this camera, a REGULATED power supply is REQUIRED (not included). Use of a non-regulated, non-conforming power supply can damage this product and voids the warranty.

- Not intended for submersion in water. Installation in a sheltered location is recommended.
- This camera includes an Auto Mechanical IR Cut Filter. When the camera changes between Day/Night viewing modes, an audible clicking noise may be heard from the camera. This clicking is normal, and indicates that the camera filter is working.
- Audio recording and/or face recording without consent is illegal in certain jurisdictions. Lorex Corporation assumes no liability for the use of its products that do not conform with local laws.
What’s Included

Dome / E842CD, E842CDB
To mount the dome camera, follow these steps:
- Use the provided Mounting Template to mark holes for screws, then drill holes for the mounting screws.
- Optional: Insert the provided drywall anchors if you are installing the camera in drywall.
- Feed the cable through the mounting surface or cable notch and mount the camera’s bracket to the surface using the provided screws.
- Connect cables as shown on page 12 of the user manual.
- Loosen the adjustment screw and position your camera as needed, then tighten to secure it in place.
- Remove the vinyl film from the camera lens when your installation is complete.
Bullet / E842CA, E842CAB
To mount the bullet camera, follow these steps:
- Use the included Mounting Template to mark holes for screws, then drill holes for the mounting screws.
- Optional: Insert the provided drywall anchors if you are installing the camera in drywall.
- Using a Phillips-head screwdriver and the provided screws, secure the Mounting Bracket to the surface.
- Feed the cable through the mounting surface or cable notch and mount the camera’s bracket to the surface using the provided screws.
- Connect cables as shown on page 12 of the user manual.
- Press the camera into the Mounting Bracket until you hear a ‘click’.
- Loosen the adjustment screw and position your camera as needed, then tighten to secure it in place.
- Remove the vinyl film from the camera lens when your installation is complete.
Camera Placement Tips
- Take into consideration what you want to monitor and where is the best coverage area.
- Point the camera where there is the least amount of obstructions (i.e. tree branches).
- Install the camera in a location that is difficult for thieves and vandals to reach.
- Secure cabling so that it is not exposed or easily cut.
- Place your camera close to the area of interest.
- The best position is 10 ft (3 m) above ground. Bullet cameras should be angled 15° down.
Camera Mounting
Test your camera before selecting a permanent mounting location.
Camera Connection
Connect your camera directly to your recorder using the camera’s Ethernet
extension cable.
Weather-resistant Cap
Twist the Ethernet extension cable’s pre-attached weather-resistant cap
securely onto your camera’s Ethernet connector. If exposed to regular
precipitation, seal the cap with silicone and electrical tape.

Ethernet Extension Cable
To securely connect your camera’s Ethernet connector with the extension
cable, follow these steps:
- Twist the Ethernet extension cable’s pre-attached weather-resistant cap securely onto your camera’s Ethernet connector.
- If exposed to regular precipitation, seal the cap with silicone and electrical tape.
