IMPORTANT:

  • In order to avoid overheating, do not cover the heater.
  • The heater itself is marked with the standard “Do not cover” symbol.
  • You must not sit on the emitter.
  • This appliance is not intended for outdoor use.
  • If the power cord is damaged, it must be changed by the manufacturer, its after-sales service or persons qualified to do so, to avoid possible danger.
  • The emitter should not be located underneath an electrical connection. The electric supply line should be protected with a high sensitivity differential device.
  • The emitter must be installed so that around it there is sufficient space for proper circulation of hot air, always respecting the minimum distances indicated in the LOCATION section. Anyone who is in the bathtub or shower should not have access to the switches and other power operation devices, respecting 0.6 m distance between the emitter and the bath or shower.
  • Mounting is an important part of safety. To perform the cor-rect installation, go to MOUNTING section.
  • This heating apparatus holds a specific amount of special oil. Repairs where it is necessary to open the oil tank must only be made by the manufacturer or your service aftermarket, which should be normally contacted in case of any oil leakage.
  • This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities or lack of experience and knowledge, if they have been given supervision or appropriate training regarding the use of the device in a safe way and they understand the dangers involved. Children should not play with the appli-ance. Cleaning and maintenance should not be performed by unsupervised children.
  • Children under 3 years should be kept out of reach of the appliance unless they are constantly supervised.
  • Children between age 3 and younger than 8 years old should only turn on / off the device whenever it has been placed or installed at its normal operating position provided they are supervised or have received instructions concerned using the appliance safely and understand the risks associated with the device. Children from 3 years and under 8 years old should not plug in, regulate, clean the appliance or perform maintenance.
  • CAUTION – Some parts of this product can become hot and cause burns. Pay particular attention when children and vulnerable people are present.
  • If the emitter is discarded, ensure it is recycled responsibly and follow any local provisions concerning the recycling of oil.
  • Do not use this heater in the immediate surroundings of a bath, a shower or a swimming pool.
  • Do not use this heater if it has been dropped or if there are visible signs of damage to it.
  • Do not use this heater in small rooms when they are occupied by persons not capable of leaving the room on their own, unless constant supervision is provided.
  • To reduce the risk of fire, keep textiles, curtains or any oth-er flammable material a minimum distance of 1 m from the air outlet.

This product is in conformity with the Directive 2012/19/EU.

The symbol of the “crossed-out wheelie bin” shown on the appliance indicates that, at the end of its working life, the product must be treated separately from domestic waste and must be disposed of in a selective collection centre for electrical and electronic appliances or must be returned to the distributor upon purchasing an equivalent new appliance. Users are responsible for disposing of appliances at the end of their working life in established collection centres. The correct collection of the appliance, allowing for the appliance to be recycled at the end of its working life, its treatment and its environment-friendly dismantling help prevent any negative effects on the environment and on public health and favour the recycling of the product components.

PROGRAMMABLE DIGITAL FLUID ELECTRIC THERMAL EMITTER

PRESENTATION

Dear customer:
Thank you for choosing RIMINI DP electric thermal emitters, with their sophisticated design, state-of-the-art electronics (touch keys), and high reliability (TRIAC), smart control for maximum efficiency and high build quality. They comply with the Ecodesign Directive and are designed and made in Spain.
The RIMINI DP thermal emitters of FERROLI, as well as all their materials and components have passed strict controls to ensure their quality.
Before switching the emitter on, you must carefully read these instructions which will help you to ensure correct operation of the device with maximum performance and complete satisfaction. Keep them close by in case of any doubts.

LOCATION

The ideal place to locate the emitter is as close as possible to the coldest wall in the room. It is not recommended to install the emitter on external walls without any insulation, however, in this case, the section of wall behind the thermal emitter must be insulated. In bathrooms, the electric thermal emitter must be installed outside the protective area, according to the regulations in force (zone 3 in the picture).

Under no circumstances may the thermal emitter be located under an electrical outlet.

Choose the location of the thermal emitter following the minimum distances indicated below:

Note: If the windowsill protrudes less than 20 mm, the gap above the emitter could be disregarded.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTION

The electric thermal emitter must be connected to the mains supply (230 V ~ 50 Hz) through its plug. The maximum permissible impedance of the mains at the connection point will be:

  • Zmax = 0.16 Ω

In addition, the following warnings must be considered:

  • The device must not be located underneath an electrical outlet or switch.
  • The power line should be protected with a high-sensitivity differential device.

MOUNTING

The thermal emitter must be held by its handles, as shown in the following image:

The thermal emitter must be fixed to the wall using the adjustable brackets, screws and wall plugs supplied with the emitter, according to the instructions on the template printed on the box.
If for any reason the template is missing, you can follow the instructions below:

  1. Make sure you keep your eye on where the lower hole on the wall is.

The first number corresponds to the number of plastic brackets on which the emitter hangs, and the second number corresponds to the number of metal locking brackets which fixes the emitter to the wall.

  1. Screw in each of the brackets using the lower hole and mark the upper holes of each wall bracket.ferroli-RIMINI-DP-Electric-Rimini-Digital-Programmable-FIG-5
  2. Drill all the marked locations in the wall and insert the wall plugs, screw the brackets to the wall and hang the emitter.

OPERATION

Control panel

Turning the emitter on and off

To turn on the emitter, it has to be plugged into the power supply (230 V ~ 50 Hz), through its plug; the standby symbol or the current operating mode will appear on the display. It is turned off removing the plug from the socket. If the emitter is in Standby mode, to set it to Operational touch and hold the Standby key; a double beep will sound once the emitter is Operational. The screen lights up quickly, changing from the standby screen to the previous operation mode. From Operational, to set it to Standby, touch and hold the Standby key; a long beep will sound, appearing the standby symbol on the screen (the light fades after 1.5 seconds). When the emitter is in Standby mode, if you touch any key the standby screen will appear for 10 seconds. From Standby, the emitter can be locked (see section 5.9 of this manual).

In case of any power failure or disconnection the emitter will always remember the previous mode of operation, the temperature, and the state (Standby / Operational and locked / un-locked). If it is the first time that it is plugged in or has been disconnected for more than 4 days, it will be necessary to edit the day and time according to section 5.5 of this manual. If the dis- connection has been for less than 4 days, the time and day of the week are saved. Daily and weekly programs are never lost even when disconnected from power for long periods.

Operating modes

By successively touching the mode key the emitter is changed from one mode to another. To identify the mode a screen is initially displayed for 2 seconds.

The emitter heating will be indicated on the TFT screen in two ways, in any heating mode:

  1. With the backlight Evanescent function. This function can be manually activated or deactivated by the user. To do this, touch the sun key .
    The evanescent function will be switched on and off, appearing on the display:
    When activated, the display indicates the heating of the emitter with the light, changing its luminosity from the minimum to the maximum and vice versa continuously, in a cycle of 6 seconds. By default it is deactivated.

  2. With the icon of the thermometer being filled as follows:

When the room temperature is below the temperature set point the emitter will turn the element on to raise the room temperature.

Temperature display

The room temperature is normally displayed on the TFT display. The set-point temperature is only displayed when the user attempts to change it; after the setting has been adjusted the dis-play will revert to the room temperature :ferroli-RIMINI-DP-Electric-Rimini-Digital-Programmable-

The comfort and eco set-point temperatures can be modified both from comfort and economy modes. The comfort and eco mode can be changed within program mode if they are active at the time (the anti-frost set-point can never be modified).

Edit day, time and program

To edit the day, time and program, touch and hold the mode key for 2.5 seconds (from any mode) until the clock icon appears on the screen:

  • The edition of the day of the week, time and program starts. This screen will also be automatically displayed when the emitter loses the time after being disconnected from the power supply for more than 4 days.

  • First, the day of the week is selected with the and keys (indicated by a flashing box). To confirm and set the day, touch the OK key and it goes to edit the time; the hour digits are flashing.

  • To change the hour, use the and keys. To confirm and set the hour, touch the OK key. Then the minute’s digits are flashing, which can be also changed with the and keys. To confirm touch the OK key, and it goes to the program edition.
    Note: If the emitter had simply lost the time and day, it does not enter the program edition, but returns to the last active mode.

  • In the program edition screen, the day of the week selected with a box is displayed on the left; the first day to edit is 1 (Monday). In the center of the screen there is a circle representing a clock, which displays the 12 hour program, divided into 24 half-hours.

Each half hour is indicated with 2 rectangles:

  • 2 black rectangles = Comfort
  • 1 black rectangle + 1 white rectangle = Economy
  • 2 white rectangles = Anti-frost

Inside the circle the selected half hour and the set point temperature of that half hour are

  • displayed. In the upper right corner, the symbol corresponding to the selected mode for the half hour active interval is displayed.

For example:

  • 00-00:30 indicates from 00:00 to 00:30
  • 00:30-01 indicates from 00:30 to 01:00.

To change the mode of each interval, touch the mode key; it switches between comfort, eco and anti-frost. To move to the next or previous interval, touch or respectively. The time, circle interval and mode symbol are flashing on the screen. By touching the OK key, the current program is saved and it goes forward to the next day. By touching and holding the OK key the program of the current day is copied to the next day or days. After Day 7, when confirming with OK key, it exits the program edition, returning to the mode in which it was. To finish editing the program edition at any time you can touch and hold the mode key for 2.5 seconds.

Manual mode

The manual mode allows the user to manually operate the emitter and override the current set-ting. It can boost the emitter to heat or not for a set amount of time. After the time expires, the emitter will return to the previous mode of operation.

  • The manual mode is designed to allow a user to override the Program mode without having to change the program itself. For example, if you arrive when the emitter is normally unheated, you can heat the space to a comfortable temperature, and then have the emitter return to its normal mode without changing the program. To enter Manual mode, touch the hand key.
  • Then using the and keys enter the amount of time you want to force the emitter to heat or not. The edition is circular, from half an hour to 365 days. The steps are:
    • Half an hour — from 00:30 to 12:00
    • 1 hour — from 12:00 to 1 d
    • 1 day — from 1 d to 365 d

To confirm the time required, the OK key will be touched.

The desired temperature can then be set using the and keys; any tem-perature between 7 °C to 30 °C (in steps of 0.5 °C) can be entered. Unheated mode can be en-tered from either 7°C or 30°C by entering or keys once from each extreme. Unheated is indicated by the standby symbol and 4 dashes on the screen (—-).

  • If no key is touched within 30 seconds before final confirmation, the emitter will return to the previous mode of operation. When the desired temperature is entered confirm with the OK key. ON will be displayed.
  • The selected time will remain on the display and count down until it is finished, and with the standby or sun symbol depending on whether temperature set point or unheated mode has been selected, as well as the temperature itself in case of forced heating Although you cannot change the set time, it is possible to change the set point temperature during the operation of manual mode using the and keys. Once the set time has elapsed, the emitter will automatically return to the previous mode of op-eration. To exit manual mode at any time, the OK key should be touched. OFF will be displayed.

Open Window function

When the Open Window mode is enabled in the configuration menu the emitter automatically stops heating when it detects a sudden drop in temperature (4 °C in 20 minutes). This is nor-mally caused when a window or door is opened to the outside without turning off the emitter.  When the Open Window mode has activated it is indicated on the display by a single screen with an open window. To enable the heating again the user must touch the Standby key. The emitter will then return to the previous mode of operation.
Note: In installations where this function is activated very frequently, it may be appropriate to keep it disabled.

This function is considered by Directive 2009/125/EC regulations and will give the unit more efficiency during operation.

Adaptive start control function

When the adaptive start function mode is enabled in the configuration menu, the emitter auto-matically starts the heating, with a maximum of 2 hours before, to ensure that the next on set-point is reached efficiently. The emitter analyses the next two hours, and if there is a set point higher than the current room temperature within that period, and know-ing the heating speed of the unit, the software calculates when it needs to start heating. This calculation is made each 5 minutes. This function only runs when the emitter is in Program mode. When Adaptive Start is running a flashing clock icon is displayed next to the thermometer symbol. The mode will only function on temperature rise e.g., from anti-frost to eco / comfort, or from eco to comfort.

When Adaptive Start is running the emitter progressively increases the set- point temperature until the next programmed set point is reached. This function is considered by Directive 2009/125/EC regulations and will give the unit more efficiency during operation.

Keyboard lock

The user can lock the keyboard by touching and holding the and keys for 2.5 seconds. The unlock is performed in the same way. When the touchpad is unlocked or locked, the screens are displayed:

This is possible in all modes of operation except in Configuration. The emitter can be also locked when is on Standby. When the emitter is locked, the padlock icon will appear in the upper left area of the screen:

Remote control

Optionally you can purchase the Remote control for easy management of the emitter.
With it you can perform the common functions: switch the emitter between Standby and Opera-tional, select the operating mode, set temperatures (it supports increasing or decreasing press ing and holding the button), exit the open windows function, edit day, time, and program, and configure, set and remove the manual mode. You cannot lock / unlock the touchpad, activate / deactivate the evanescent function, enable / disable the evanescent function, access the date, time, and program edition nor (once accessed the edition from the emitter panel) copy the program from one day to the next or exit the edition in the middle of programming with the remote control.

ERRORS TABLE

There are 3 types of errors that the electronics can detect; if an error is detected one of the codes below will be displayed on the screen until it is resolved.

When recovering from an error, the emitter will always return to Standby mode and will not re-tain any previous mode or state. If the emitter goes to Standby without any specific reason, it may have recovered from an error.

MAINTENANCE AND CARE

The RIMINI DP emitters require very little maintenance. The surfaces of the emitter must not be cleaned with an abrasive product or those containing granular substances. We recommend regular cleaning with PH neutral products. In order to clean the emitter, it is recommended that the electric power is switched off. Failure to keep the emitters clean may result in dust becoming burnt and depositing on the wall above the emitter in the form of dark streaks or patches. This type of marking is expressly due to failure to keep the emitter and surrounding area clean. FERROLI is not responsible for such damages.

Warranty Certificate

This warranty is only valid for equipment to be marketed, sold and installed in Spanish territory.

FERROLI ESPAÑA, S.L., with registered office at Pol. Ind. Villayuda, C/ Alcalde Martín Cobos, 4, 09007 Burgos, guarantees the products listed in this instruction manual in accordance with the modification of 1 January 2022 of Royal Legislative Decree 1/2007 of 16 November, which approves the revised text of the General Law for the Defence of Consumers and Users and other complementary laws.
The 3-year warranty period indicated in the aforementioned Royal Decree shall start from the date of installation or, failing that, from the date of purchase.
Unless proven otherwise, it shall be presumed that any lack of conformity that is shown 2 years after delivery was not apparent when the good was delivered.

The warranty does not cover incidents caused by:

  • Power supply with generator sets or any other system that is not a stable electrical network.
  • Transport not carried out at the company’s expense (to be claimed directly from the carrier).
  • Handling of the product by personnel unconnected to FERROLI ESPAÑA, S.L. during the warranty period.
  • If mounting does not comply with the instructions supplied with the machine.
  • Installation of the machine does not comply with the Laws and Regulations in force (electricity, hydraulics, fuels, etc.).
  • Faulty hydraulic or electrical installation, faults in fuel supply systems, combustion exhaust outlets, chimneys or drainage systems.
  • Faults due to incorrect feed water treatment, due to limescale deposits, due to incorrectly carried out descaling treatment, etc.
  • Faults caused by condensation or atmospheric conditions (ice, lightning, floods, etc.), as well as erratic currents.
  • Inadequate maintenance, neglect or misuse.
  • Corrosions caused by inadequate storage.

Important

  • To be entitled to the warranty claim stated herein, it will be an essential requirement that the equipment is intended for domestic use.
  • This warranty is valid provided that the standard maintenance operations described in the technical instructions supplied with the equipment are carried out.
  • Prior to any technical assistance, FERROLI’s technical staff must be shown the invoice or purchase receipt of the equipment, together with the corresponding delivery note, if this were of a later date.
  • The spare parts which are necessary to replace, will be those determined by our Official T.A.S., and in all cases they will be originals from FERROLI.

The material replaced under warranty shall become the property of FERROLI ESPAÑA, S.L. Any complaints shall be lodged with the competent body in this matter.
