OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

To begin grooving, tire must be placed on holding arms. To activate hydraulic system, push start button.
(to stop machine push in stop button).

Hold tire in position and activate expanding holding arms by stepping on left foot pedal, marked “Spread Tire”. Position tire to the left side of holding arm next to the stop arm.

To rotate tire, step on right pedal. To groove the tire, it must rotate toward the operator. Slowly rotate tire, and using a tire pick, remove all stones and any other foreign material. Stones can break the groover cutter blade.

To adjust rotation speed, adjust foot pedal speed control. To slow down rotation, turn speed control clockwise or to the right. To speed up rotation, turn speed control counter clockwise.

Open ball valve approximately 1/8 to ¼ turn to allow a small airflow. The air flows through the cord sheath to the grooving gun and keeps  the cord and tool cool.

The grooving tool control unit has four heat settings. The left button is the coolest and the right button is the hottest. Use your judgment when setting the control unit. A small blade will require less heat than a large wide blade.

Grasp the grooving tool with cable and roller attached. Step on right pedal to rotate tire. With the air valve on and one button of control unit depressed, position tool and follow existing zigzag pattern. Remove waste as tire rotates. Cross grooves can be cut manually with the grooving tool.

After tire is grooved, it can be removed from grooving stand by releasing the tire holding arms. To release arms lift up left pedal with the toe of operator’s shoe. This will release the tire – Shut off air and electric motor until operator is ready to groove another tire.
