Radio Operation:
To power up the radio, press the power button briefly. The radio will initiate an automatic station scan powered by BestTuneTM. After scanning, the radio will tune into the first station found. The station list is saved in memory, so it won’t rescan each time it’s turned on.

Charging the Battery:
If the battery is completely exhausted, charge it for a short while to display battery status information.

Precautions

• Power connection and accessibility
  Do not handle the power cord with wet hands. Switch off the unit completely before unplugging it. Ensure that the power plug is always easily accessible.

• Child safety
  Always follow basic safety precautions when using this product, especially when children are present. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the product.

• Heat and operating temperature
  Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight.

  Please inspect the unit for damage after unpacking. If it is damaged in any way do not operate the unit and consult your dealer.

• Maintenance
  Unplug the power cable from the power source before cleaning the product. Use a soft and clean cloth to clean the outside of the unit. Never clean it with chemicals or detergent.

• Service and Repair
  This product does not contain any parts that are serviceable by the user. Exposing the internal parts inside the device may endanger your life. In case of a fault, contact the manufacturer or authorised service department. The manufacturers guarantee does not extend to faults caused by repairs carried out by unauthorized third parties.

Built-in lithium-ion battery care

• Your product is powered by a built-in lithium-ion rechargeable battery.
• The battery can be charged and discharged hundreds of times, but will eventually wear out.
• Unplug the product when not in use.
• Do not leave a fully charged battery connected to a power outlet, it may shorten its lifetime.
• If left unused, a fully charged battery will lose its charge over time.
• Leaving the product in hot or cold places, such as in a closed car in the summer and winter conditions, will reduce the capacity and lifetime of the battery.
• Always try to store your device in a cool, moisture-free environment that’s less than 32°C.
• If you plan to store your device for longer than six months, charge the battery to 50% every six months to keep it fresh. Store the device at temperatures between 5 °C and 20 °C.

• The battery used in this product may present a risk of fire or chemical burn if mistreated.
• Do not attempt to open the product to replace the battery, it is not designed to be changed by the user.
• Batteries may explode if damaged.
• Do not expose batteries to high temperatures or excessive radiant heat.
• Do not drop the product or subject to strong physical shock.
• Please dispose of battery pack correctly by following the guidance in this manual (see section “Disposal of this equipment and batteries”).
• Do not throw them into fire, do not disassemble them, they could leak or explode.

Disposal of this equipment and batteries

• This product does not contain any parts that are serviceable by the user.
• Electronic products and batteries should not be mixed with general household waste. Household users should contact either the retailer where they purchased this product, or their local government office for details of where and how they can take these items for environmentally safe recycling.
• The batteries should be removed by an authorized Sharp service centre and disposed according to local regulations.
• Do not dispose as household waste or in a fire as they may explode.

   • When switched off, short press: Power on.
   • When switched on, short press: View current mode. Press again to change the mode.
   • With BestTune™ “On”: BestTune/Bluetooth.
   • With BestTune™ “Off”: DAB/FM/Bluetooth.
   • When switched on, long press: Standby.
   • When in standby, long press: Power off.
     Note : Power off to extend battery life when unit is not in use for a long period of time and not connected to a power source.

4. Preset (40 BestTune™/40 DAB/40 FM)

   • Long press : Store a preset.
   • Short press: Recall a preset.
5. • Short press: Fine tune FM stations/move through the DAB station list or menu options/previous track in Bluetooth mode.
   • Long press: Fast scan down the FM frequency band/fast rewind in Bluetooth mode.
6. • Short press: Fine tune FM stations/move through the DAB station list or menu options/next track in Bluetooth mode.
   • Long press: Fast scan up the FM frequency band/fast forward in Bluetooth mode.

Charging the built-in battery

• Before you use your radio for the first time, you need to charge the battery, which will take approximately 4 hours. From a full charge, you will be able to listen to your radio continuously for approximately 15 hours at 50% volume.
• Risk of product damage!
  • Ensure that the power supply voltage corresponds to the voltage printed on the back of the radio.
  • Connect the included USB-C cable to the USB-C charging socket of the speaker and then insert the USB-C cable into a 5V 2A USB-C adapter or socket. The display will read, <SHARP, sharp consumer.eu> and then your radio will go into Standby mode  with a clock display.

NOTE: If the battery is completely exhausted, you will need to charge it a short while to display the battery status information.

Initial set-up

Fully extend the radio’s telescopic antenna. This maximizes signal strength during the station scan.

Briefly press the button. The radio will power up and initiate an automatic station scan. A progress bar will display the scan’s progress. The number of stations found will also appear on the screen. The automatic scan will be powered by BestTune™, which is the radio’s default mode. After the scan, the radio will automatically tune into the first station it finds and start playing. Stations are sorted by number first, then alphabetically by default.

NOTE: The list of radio stations is saved in the device’s memory. Therefore, the radio won’t scan for stations each time you turn it on.

BestTune™ radio mode

Your radio’s ‘BestTune™’ feature scans both DAB and FM stations, storing them in a single list while removing duplicates. Upon station selection, it chooses DAB or FM based on signal availability or strength for the best listening experience.

The BestTune™ feature has been set to ON at the factory, but you can easily change this in the menu by following the steps below:

1. Long press the button to enter the menu options.
2. Use to highlight . Press the button.
3. Use to highlight <BestTune™>. Press the button.
4. Use buttons to highlight or . Press the button.
5. Short press the button until you exit the menu options.

SlideShow
SlideShow displays images and information from the radio station (when broadcast). The content displayed will vary between broadcasters, but it could include images of the artist currently being played to details about any advertisements. Short press the radio playback to cycle between different image and text display modes. SlideShow data is only broadcast via DAB/ DAB+ signals. When using BestTune™ mode, any stations that are tuned using FM signals will not display any SlideShow data. Similarly, some DAB stations do not broadcast SlideShow data.

Changing radio stations
Short press the or buttons to scroll through the available stations. When you see the station you want, press the button.

Radio station scanning
Regular manual scans are advised to maintain an updated station list, especially when new stations are introduced, or if your radio is moved to a new location. For optimal performance, BestTune™ should be set to ‘On’.

1. Long press the button to enter the menu options.
2. Use to highlight <BestTune™ Scan>. Press the button. The display will read <Scanning…>.

NOTE : The station list includes available DAB and FM stations in your area, removing any duplicates. When you choose a station, the radio plays the one with the strongest signal.

Storing a station preset

• Using the BestTune™ feature, radio station presets are stored by station, not by DAB or FM mode. You don’t need to switch between DAB or FM modes to select a preset.
• Your radio can store up to 40 BestTune™ stations in its preset memory for quick access to your favourite stations.

1. Tune the radio to the station you wish to preset.
2. Long press the button. The display will read and a list of numbered preset locations (1-40).
3. Use to select the preset location where you want to save the station (1-40).
4. Press the button. The display will read , where ‘X’ is the preset number (1-40).

NOTE : If a station is already saved under a preset, storing a new station will overwrite the existing one.

Recall a station preset
You can easily access your stored preset stations when in BestTune™ mode.

1. Short press the button. This reveals a list of preset locations (1-40), showing either stored stations’ names or frequencies or if no station is stored.
2. Use to move to the station preset that you would like to listen to (1-40).
3. Press the button to select the station. The radio will tune into that station based on the best available DAB or FM signal if available.

NOTE: If no station has been stored in the preset and it is selected, the display will read and the radio will return to the last selected station.

DAB radio mode

You can deactivate BestTune™ by following the steps in the BestTune™ section. This will allow you to tune into DAB and FM stations independently. Ensure the radio is in DAB mode. If not, press the button until the display confirms DAB mode. If it’s your first time using the radio or if the station list is empty, the radio will auto-scan for DAB stations, displaying a progress bar and a number of found stations. If the radio was last tuned to a DAB station before being switched off, this station will auto-select upon powering on.

DAB radio station scanning
With DAB radio, additional stations and services regularly become available. Carry out a manual scan periodically to make sure that you have the most up- to-date station listing stored within the memory of your radio.

1. Long press the button to enter the menu options.
2. Use to highlight . Press the button. The display will read <Scanning…>.

Changing DAB stations
Short press or to scroll through the available stations. When you see the station you want, press the button.

Prune DAB stations
You can remove the DAB stations in the station list that cannot be received in your area. These are listed with a <?> prefix.

1. Enter the menu options and select .
2. The display will read <Proceed to prune the invalid stations. Yes, >. Use to highlight . Press the button. Stations with a ‘?’ prefix will no longer be displayed. Short press the button to exit the menu.

Storing a DAB station preset

• Your radio can store up to 40 DAB stations in its preset memory for quick access to your favourite stations. These presets to not affect your BestTune™ or FM presets.
• The process is the same as storing a BestTune preset.

NOTE: If a station is already saved under a preset, storing a new station will overwrite the existing one.

Recall a DAB station preset

• You can easily access your stored preset stations when in DAB mode.
• The process is the same as recalling a BestTune preset.

NOTE : If no station has been stored in the preset and it is selected, the display will read and the radio will return to the last selected station.

DAB display information
When listening to a DAB station, you can change the information that will appear on the display. There are several different types of information that are sent by the broadcaster. Repeatedly short press to cycle through the different information options:

• Dynamic Label Segment (DLS) – This is scrolling text information as supplied by the broadcaster. This could include artist names, song titles, contact details for the radio station, etc.
• Signal strength – An empty will appear on the display to indicate the minimum signal strength for acceptable listening. The row of solid squares indicates the actual signal strength that you are receiving.
• Program type (PTY) – e.g., ‘Rock’, ‘Pop’, ‘Talk’ or ‘News’
• Channel and frequency – e.g. 12B 225.648 MHz (Channel=12B, Frequency=225.648 MHz).
• Bitrate – The data rate at which the signal is being transmitted.
• Signal
• Power Status – e.g. Battery 95

NOTE : DAB display information operates in both BestTune™ and DAB modes.

FM radio mode

• You can deactivate BestTune™ by following the steps in the BestTune™ section. This will allow you to tune into DAB and FM stations independently,
• Ensure the radio is in FM mode. If not, press the button until the display confirms FM mode.
• If the radio was last tuned to an FM station before being switched off, this station will auto-select upon powering on.

Changing FM stations
Long press the or buttons to scan up or down the frequency band. The radio will search for and stop at the next available station. Short press or to fine-tune each frequency in 0.05MHz steps.

Change the scan setting
In FM mode:
Enter the menu options and select .

There are two different options to choose from:

• The scan will only stop when a strong signal strength is received, resulting in better audio quality. It is possible that the station you are scanning for may be missed using this option.
• The scan will stop at every station it receives, even if the signal strength is poor.
